Welcome one and all to those who are watching series 6 as it is released in the US.

Here's a place to discuss everything we've seen so far, but please don't post spoilers. If they haven't been broadcast, they are spoilers. I don't care if you've read about it online/ in a magazine.

Under his eye.

The bomb was on an altitude meter thing. So once Lawrence got on the plane there was no going back.

Ive seen so many social media posts from people hoping nick somehow managed to get off the plane. Eww why, the man is a drip. He may have loved June, in some weird kind of way, but he was never against Gilead, not once. He wanted to protect her - occasionally, but never his kid, he barely asked about her, i could count on one hand the amount of time he showed even the vaguest of interest in her. He never had any intention of joining the rebellion, and standing up against Gilead. He was weak and pathetic. When i saw his step out of the car, i literraly said "dont you dare June, let him go" out loud like some kind of weirdo.

Commander Lawrence on the other hand, my have been self serving a lot of the time, but he clearly regretted his choices and the impact it had on all women, not just his Elenor. And when the time came, he was always going to make the right choice. He was in the rebellion before he even met June, he showed genuine remorse multiple times. But i knew he was going to die the second he said coodbye to Angela, he loved that kid and wanted what was best for her.

June shouting "dont let the bastards grind you down" was simply iconic. With luke sneaking through the crowd, with Rita, who is also simply iconic. One of my most favourite few minutes of television ever. Aunt Lydia - also iconic.

Im also, and im very sorry, in camp Serena. Much like commander lawrence, i think she show genuine remorse, but she also brainwashed by a regime. shes done some truly terrible things, and deserved (some) of her punishments. But she also wants a better future for women and children, and the handmaids. I think she is the best character in the show, so complex, so torn all the time, self serving definitely, but she does want the best for society deep down. If the kill her off next episode, i will be genuinely gutted, id rather they killed June tha her - sorry!

Nick is love struck by June but this new witch is far too Gilead strong to even see how destructive it really is for women outside of being a commander's wife, that he just followed her pleas blindly. I'm sad he was killed I'm team Nick all the way. Luke was in Canada for years and got absolutely nowhere until June showed up. Nick has done much more for June than Luke ever could. Serena is delusional if she thinks the New Bethlehem is going to be any better. She needs to wake up and be for the rebels and stop with this power hungry struggle to being some kind of woman leader its never going to happen. Also June is the main character she will never be killed sorry not sorry. There is only one episode left how can they take down all of Gilead and save the rest of their stolen children in just one episode?

Oh im not team Luke either. Luke is her history, her former life. I dont think Luke will ever truly understand her trauma, he tries, but he doesnt get it as he escaped and moped around for years. Im team June is a badass and doesnt need the drip she is trauma bonded to or the "nice man" she had a seemingly lovely life with before Gilead all but broke her.

Nick is all about the power. Wasnt there a scene where he was with someone to help him find a job, or maybe even a parole officer, pre gilead back in an early series? He was a nobody, now he is a somebody. He wants that status, he enjoys the status, thats how he climbed ranks, by being yes sir no sir till it got him what he wanted.

As for taking down Gilead and saving all the children. They wont, they cant. Theres so much more to the story to come. This is the story of one battle within a war, of part of Junes story within that war, it was never going to show the end of it, they were never going to truly "win", its just a chapter.

But i really hope that chapter ends with Angela/Charlotte back with Janine and that poor girl somewhere safe.

How old would Hannah be now? I’m assuming she must be coming upto adult years? there’s not been any mention (unless I’ve missed it) about where she is and Junes plan to get her back?

I don’t think she is an adult. You can judge the timeline of events based on how old Nicole is and she doesn’t seem much more than a year old yet.

She was 12 in the Ep when Serena showed her on screen when she had the purple clothes and they found she was in the school for future wives

The time line is confusing because the child they have playing nichole is too young.

but hannah was 5 when they were seperated

its supposedly 4 years later when june had nichole. So when she saw Hannah at the lakehoise hannah should have been 9.

june was in gilead for 5 years, so nichole should have been 1 she escaped.

June spent 2 years in Canada before she went to Alaska then back to gilead. So nichole should be 3 and hannah now 12.

Oh watching him say goodbye to Angela was so sad he knew he probably wouldn't see her again it's why he gave Naomi the book to read to her 😭

Agree. Everytime I see Nichole, I’m like, has this all really happened in just 12-18 months?

Wow what an episode.

I almost cried several times.

Aunt Lydia changing sides, Lawrence getting on the plane, Lawrence saying goodbye to Charlotte/Angela.

Nick chose his side in the end didn’t he? And imo deserved his fate.

I can’t imagine how the next episode is going to end.

Me. I think it was ok, it sets things up for The Testaments. It wasn’t as exciting as episode 9 , but that’s usually how it goes.

puffinchuffin · 27/05/2025 10:54

I cant believe its over. I only cried 5 times which was good going i think. The ending was absolutely perfect.

how long till the testaments is out

Me! Poor ending, but some good moments. Cried and laughed at the same time when June & Emily met outside the ice cream store.

Oh no i disagree! The ending was beautiful. June starting to document her story of this one battle in the war. The symbolism of her coat and sitting on the window sill reliving her story. Envisaging shes telling it to Hannah. Emily i literally burst in to tears and had to pause the video. Her and Luke had to happen as it happened. Serena with nothing but happy with her baby. June forgiving serena to get closure. Janine got charlotte. I dont think it could have ended differently or better.

dapsnotplimsolls · 27/05/2025 11:03

I cried when Emily appeared too, I wasn't expecting that. I feel a bit annoyed that because of The Testaments, we couldn't have a June/Hannah reunion.

Didntask · 27/05/2025 11:42

I'm glad she forgave Serena. She needed to do that for her own sanity.

I was disappointed. ☹️

Last weeks was one of the best episodes of television I have ever seen, this one just felt like an epilogue to that.

Hard to top the highs and lows of last week I guess.

it felt all over the place. Flash backs, imagined scenes and kind of predictable conversations. I kept waiting for the story to progress but it felt like everyone was standing still.
