Welcome one and all to those who are watching series 6 as it is released in the US.

Here's a place to discuss everything we've seen so far, but please don't post spoilers. If they haven't been broadcast, they are spoilers. I don't care if you've read about it online/ in a magazine.

Under his eye.

HaddyAbrams · 20/05/2025 15:05

I can't cope. You know that you flip flop over whether you like or hate characters? I now know firmly how I feel about 2 of them, and its not how I thought I'd feel. 😭

Breeezy · 20/05/2025 15:08

Where are you watching? Prime only has three episodes…

Dailymotion.com has them all up to date, US pace.

Lovelysummerdays · 20/05/2025 15:13

Just watched nine, oh my that was intense. I’m starting to warm to Aunt Lydia. I thought Lawrence was in the testaments clearly not.

LinesAndLinesAndLinesAndLines · 20/05/2025 15:33

What an episode! I was not expecting that at all! So excited for next week now! I’m with you @DidntaskI was never sure how I felt but by golly I do now!

Which two?

Joseph and Nick.

Joseph and Nick.

Ahh OK. I've disliked Nick for a couple of weeks now. I've always liked Joseph, but was never sure how trustworthy he really was or which side he was on. This week's episode made me love him!

The overall tension reminded me of the early series. I was convinced either Janine or Moira would be dead by the end.

Nick got on that plane to save himself. Joseph got on it to save everyone else. 😭😭. I hope he's back with Eleanor now.

Styleseeker65 · 20/05/2025 21:02

They killed him!!! So sad as I wanted him to end up with June but it was quite powerful to end it that way. He chose Gilead.

hattymattie · 20/05/2025 21:04

Devastated about Lawrence although suspected that might happen. What happened to Aunt Lydia?
This can’t dovetail perfectly into The Testaments as Aunt Lydia is already discredited in the eyes of the regime.

I was thinking about this and perhaps the people that saw her speech were mainly rebels, most of the guardians were killed. The commander was killed. Maybe she gets away with it as no one left alive to dob her in when the dust settles.

I’ve not read the books so maybe I’m being stupid here but what was the point in Lawrence’s sacrifice? We’ve seen DC; so many more commanders and handmaids than Boston. And then there is the rest of the country. That plane killed half a dozen… so what? What was the point?

dreamuntilitsyours · 21/05/2025 08:17

Cried my eyes out at episode 9! “Dont let the bastards get you down”

and then the plane scene…

just superb. Can’t believe it’s nearly over, I’ve either been watching this series or waiting for a new one to start for years now! I remember how unbelievable a lot of it seemed before lockdown and suddenly we realised that as humans we comply when we feel scared and threatened. This will forever be the best thing I’ve ever watched.

I know what you mean, it’s like cutting a head off a hydra. They are perfectly capable of bombing Boston without those commanders. I wonder if they’d of pushed for the bombing what with the econofolk rebelling, the handmaidens killing people off. The (former) Martha helping out with sedatives. The people are possibly beyond redemption type stuff.

They will have to institute a new command structure and get a grip of the situation which buys time.

I knew it was Game Over for Nick when I recognised his driver. He smuggled June out of Gilead to the deserted Boston Globe newspaper office in Season 2.

He just worked for Nick. Nick did that; helped get her out, didn’t he? Because he did what Nick asked.
So, he drove Nick to the plane. It wasn’t a rebel plan to get Nick there. Nick chose to go after his wife asked him to go with her dad.

They could have at least waited and blew the plane up once it was in DC and landing, maybe take out a few more people or at least the airport.

If they’d of put a timer on the bomb though it wouldn’t of worked as they left early.

I assumed it was a timer or an altitude monitor. It obviously wasn’t triggered manually as the plan meant there wouldn’t be anyone there to trigger it manually. Or someone was monitoring remotely.

But getting a timer set for landing time would have been risky, as flight time isn’t guaranteed so it does make sense that they couldn’t blow it up in DC.
