Another ch 5 drama

We love a ch 5 😂

The feud is a new 6 part drama - airing for 3 nights a week x 2 weeks

What can happen when a neighbourly dispute gets out of hand

Jill and Rupert play a couple - Emma and John who fall out with their neighbours Sonja and Alan over extending their kitchen and an extension

The Feud, an upcoming domestic thriller, takes the tension of "nightmare neighbours" and raises it to a whole new level, blending gripping drama with a cast of familiar faces that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Starring Jill Halfpenny and Rupert Penry-Jones, this Channel 5 drama (https://www.yours.co.uk/leisure/celebrity-tv/channel-5-dramas/) is "full of paranoia“ and promises to pull viewers into a world where trust is scarc
e, and every interaction feels like it could ignite a powder keg.

'Emma and John Barnett, who, along with their teenage daughter Beth, appear to live an idyllic life on Shelbury Drive.

They’re close friends with their neighbours, Sonia and Alan, and despite their foibles, are also fond of older couple, Derek and Barbara.

'The close friendships in this seemingly peaceful street prove to be not quite as harmonious as they seem', teases the synopsis.

'When Emma and John decide to add a kitchen extension to their house, things quickly start to spin drastically out of control.

As objections to the plans are raised, unexpected skeletons and life-threatening secrets begin to rise to the surface.

Laced with menace, The Feud reveals how Emma’s aspirational dream turns sharply into obsession, paranoia, and fear. One decision sets in motion events that have unforeseeable consequences for both her and the people living on her street.'

I mean Beth is a bit weedy isn’t she , try yanking the cooker handle for god sake 😅😅
Emma is unlikeable to me although i do love Jill halfpenny ( almost as much as a c5 drama planner does 😅)

I’m enjoying it, though I originally thought it was three parter. If I’d known I would have waited until this weekend and binge watched it. Emma is awful, treats everyone poorly especially the neighbours. The was she speaks to the elderly couple and the creepy video guy! And why was she so desperate fo get an extension anyway, her marriage is still over, her daughter dislikes her, she has fell out with the neighbours.

I wondered if the policewoman was doing the magpies but how would she know Emma’s superstition.

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2025 07:31

Maybe John is the ‘ baddie ‘ or Lee meant to go for John and got the wrong man ?
.. or Sonia killed him and wants to set John up for it all ? She seems too much of wet lettuce though.
if only Emma had listened properly to the security man , he knew who was killing the poor birds so might have been more of a warning for her !

Augustus40 · 23/04/2025 07:49

This is too dragged out. Four episodes would have been better.

I am pleased the awful Derek is now dead! The actor was a lovely character in Unforgotten series though.

PeskyRooks · 23/04/2025 09:26

I think Marcus is the magpie murderer and he's the one who had the skeleton mask on and damaged the camera. I'm only guessing! I'm enjoying it but there's so many threads all jumbled up!

I don't really get all the stuff with the police woman why befriend Beth if she was just going to beat her up and handcuff her in the end? She could have just messaged Beth the photos without all the photo exhibition rigmarole, what was the point?

What about all the dodgy planning how does that add to the story?
Why didn't they just pay Lee? And what was the shady relationship between Alan and Lee?
Hopefully all revealed tonight but can't help thinking the finale will throw up more questions than it answers!

PeskyRooks · 23/04/2025 09:29

Also if Emma was suspended from work why did she carry on wearing her officey clothes all the time? Doesn't she own any casual clothes??
All the styling choices were a bit off tbh, the teenager wearing weird blouses, John's nasty cardigan!
And did we ever find out why John left his job? Had to leave because of stress, but why?!

Gloriia · 23/04/2025 09:45

'And what was the shady relationship between Alan and Lee?'

Think Alan had involved Lee to scam them out of thousands as he knew about the fling.

Agree with pp Barb probably knows how Derek fell but doesn't care as she'll secretly be relieved to be rid of him.

I wonder why someone didn't just ring the planning department and find out what was going on, bit late for that now!

Accents are all a bit of a mix aren't they. Geordie dm, southern sounding dgd, posh sounding df and a dd who sounds like she's from the north west.

Still quite entertaining though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/04/2025 10:27

I did think it was weird that the daughter had Emma on phone rather then mum when the police lady said she’s persistent

TheFifthTellytubby · 23/04/2025 10:33

And did we ever find out why John left his job? Had to leave because of stress, but why?!

Stress brought on by keeping his affair secret and/or his missus constantly banging on about wanting a bigger kitchen? 😁

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2025 10:49

I suppose that when the police lady sent Beth the photos it was obvious by her initial reaction that she hadn’t enhanced them at all and didn’t really know the significance straight away. So she came up with the photo gallery idea as they would be ‘ blown up ‘ a bit more and she told her to ‘ look at them carefully ‘ too. Seems a very round about way of telling her things though..
.. most people would have shown them to her face to face and explained them to her I suppose ? Although nobody acts normally in dramas or soaps
Marcus is bound to be a big reveal ( is my guess too)
Although why he might have killed Alan I haven’t a clue really? Maybe he is Sonia’s son ?

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2025 10:50

Posted too early there! Sonia’s Son , what am I thinking ? 🤔 just musings really

Delphey · 23/04/2025 10:51

Maybe one of the two couples is the magpie killer.

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2025 10:54

Considering how much she wanted this extension , she seems quite laid back about all the set backs around it all! most people would be a total mess by now with all this even prior to finding Alan !
Plus you’d ring the council to see who pulled the planning permission first. I would.
At least get some answers

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 23/04/2025 11:02

I am enjoying this, but am puzzled by John packing a suitcase to run off with pregnant affair partner Sonia. Where the hell were they going to go? She is a teacher and has the commitment of her job, and he isn't even working, so where is the money coming from for them to survive? (And support the baby?) Is he just going to live off her like he's been living off his wife? Going to be a struggle with her on maternity leave, and him unemployed, and them paying rent on a private let property! (As I said, with trying to support a baby too.)

I have to say, I wouldn't find a man who has no job very appealing. He is physically OK (tall, blonde, quite good looking,) but I wouldn't be attracted to a man who was unemployed and living off his wife.

JMO.

I have no idea who has killed Sonia's husband! (Alan.)

I hope Beth is OK!

I wonder who withdrew the planning permission?

What connection does Alan have to the (rogue) builders?

Does Barbara know that John and Emma were there when Derek had his 'fall?'

And yes, Emma's life has turned upside down somewhat. I'd have lost my shit by now! 😬

Last one tonight!

.

NewAgeNewMe · 23/04/2025 11:10

Not read thread
20 minutes in last nights episode
they are all so unlikeable. Don’t know how Larry lamb went from Gavin and Stacey to this shite! The money must have been good!

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2025 11:16

Larry lamb is just playing Archie Mitchell. He met a sticky end too.

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2025 11:17

( not that I know what’ll happen to the dad , he’ll probably be fine )

NewAgeNewMe · 23/04/2025 11:51

Wasn’t expecting that ending!

MichaelandKirk · 23/04/2025 12:42

I love Rupert PJ but that horrible cardigan has put me right off him. He was lush in his earlier years and dated Kylie (who always seemed to date glam, handsome men who ultimately let her down or were unfaithful).

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2025 12:51

John’s behavior is bizarre as mentioned below!
I was thinking the same , why would you want to run off with her when you haven’t any money or a job and your wife would take you to the cleaners with a messy divorce.
It seemed a rash thought out decision and Sonia isn’t even on board with it really either. Not that she had many options open to her really I suppose. She could choose to abort the baby , but maybe that’s even too dark for this drama and she’s only just found out she’s pregnant. She may want the baby.
She isn’t aware of Alan’s demise either yet!
They are all wrapped up in so much drama and deaths. I hope it’s resolved and not left on a ‘cliff hanger. ‘

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2025 12:53

Rupert is lovely ( despite the poor choice in cardigans) .
I didn’t know about Kylie , she has been unlucky in love.
Dated so many men over the years , famous and not so famous , yet never found ‘ the one. ‘

Gloriia · 23/04/2025 12:57

MichaelandKirk · 23/04/2025 12:42

Cardigan is very Starsky and Hutch esque isn't it.

CollaterlieSistersSister · 23/04/2025 13:08

I shan’t hear a word against Rupert P-J. Although I’d be asking him if it was a tad warm for that cardigan, and suggesting he take it off - not for shallow reasons, oh no.

Marcus - got to feature in some form in Ep 6 surely? C’mon Ch5, Chekhov’s gun.

MichaelandKirk · 23/04/2025 13:39

I knew I had seen that cardigan somewhere else!
