Another ch 5 drama

We love a ch 5 😂

The feud is a new 6 part drama - airing for 3 nights a week x 2 weeks

What can happen when a neighbourly dispute gets out of hand

Jill and Rupert play a couple - Emma and John who fall out with their neighbours Sonja and Alan over extending their kitchen and an extension

The Feud, an upcoming domestic thriller, takes the tension of "nightmare neighbours" and raises it to a whole new level, blending gripping drama with a cast of familiar faces that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Starring Jill Halfpenny and Rupert Penry-Jones, this Channel 5 drama (https://www.yours.co.uk/leisure/celebrity-tv/channel-5-dramas/) is "full of paranoia“ and promises to pull viewers into a world where trust is scarc
e, and every interaction feels like it could ignite a powder keg.

'Emma and John Barnett, who, along with their teenage daughter Beth, appear to live an idyllic life on Shelbury Drive.

They’re close friends with their neighbours, Sonia and Alan, and despite their foibles, are also fond of older couple, Derek and Barbara.

'The close friendships in this seemingly peaceful street prove to be not quite as harmonious as they seem', teases the synopsis.

'When Emma and John decide to add a kitchen extension to their house, things quickly start to spin drastically out of control.

As objections to the plans are raised, unexpected skeletons and life-threatening secrets begin to rise to the surface.

Laced with menace, The Feud reveals how Emma’s aspirational dream turns sharply into obsession, paranoia, and fear. One decision sets in motion events that have unforeseeable consequences for both her and the people living on her street.'

OMG this was so bad it was great 😂I was hooked.

Biggest issue - a house is up for sale mere days after a bloody murder takes place? The house would be a literal crime scene for weeks!

the80sweregreat · 25/04/2025 10:42

Estate agents are ( mostly ) sharks , so wouldn’t surprise me they would take on a house like that and not suggest a clean up first ( or something at least )
it was bizarre. Why wasn’t it a crime scene ? .. so many questions
i felt sorry for the poor magpies too!

However, for some reason it was really watchable to the extent that I was waiting on tenterhooks for the next episode

I liked that Jill HP appears to have done nothing to her face, and looks like me.
I thought she was a real piece of work in E 1 and was terribly mean to John, but by the end I was like: yeah he deserves it. And feeling sorry for Jill.
They were all really casual about Beth disappearing no? I would have freaked out if my 19 year old went AWOL.

Lentilweaver · 25/04/2025 11:41

Yeah who sells a house with blood stains? batshit. and Nick's motive: cray cray.

FrenchandSaunders · 25/04/2025 12:43

Neither parent really cared much about their daughter or checked in with her much ... too wrapped up in their own problems. The dad in particular.

Did Lee ever get his cash ?
He looked like a man who wouldn’t have let that one go easily.

Not sure why he was made to look so sinister . His act of revenge smashing up the floor tiles was quite funny!

the80sweregreat · 25/04/2025 18:57

The other man sawing away with Lee was funny too!
They were both really aggressive and made me laugh too. The writers did a great job with those two.

Seymour5 · 26/04/2025 18:02

Lee is Peter Barlow from Corrie! I struggled to see him as anyone else. Thought the story was crackers, but I was hooked til the end for all the reasons mentioned by PPs.

I've stopped watching anything with Sally Lindsay in it due to everytyhing she's in being utter rubbish and I think I'm going the same with Jill Halfpenny. She was in some nonsense a few years ago about being convinced some boy was still alive - I think it was set in Ireland.

I nearly gave up on this after episode 4 as it was so dire but decided to finish it off last night - wish I hadn't bothered. None of it made any sense. I was also shouting at the TV about how the policewoman knew it was the daughter who was missing. Killing someone because he's killed some birds - seriously? And they didn't explain how Alan knew the builder. Lots of things just came to nothing.

I think that's me done with C5 "dramas". I honestly can't believe this kind of stuff is commissioned.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/04/2025 12:35

Think you need to reliese ch5 are a bit cheesy

but fun to watch and escape from day to day life

Sally lindsay is the current Sarah Lancashire. Lancashire too used to be in every cheesy drama and then Happy Valley gave her some kudos and credibility, now she's gone all luvvie and talks like the Queen Grin
Lindsay and Halfpenny need Sally Wainwright to write them a drama then all sins will be forgiven.

the80sweregreat · 28/04/2025 19:02

Sarah L does speak differently these days! good actress though. Loved Happy Valley.
I agree that a Sally wainwright drama would be good.
whoever writes the ch 5 ones could do with watching a few of her ones for inspiration!
Kay Mellor ones too.

What was the story about the tree?
it was all such a load of tosh but I watched the lot!

Meredusoleil · 29/04/2025 20:47

I am about half way through these 6 episodes and these are my observations so far:

Would any of these problems have even happened if stubborn, selfish Emma hadn't pushed ahead with the bloody kitchen extension?!?

Lee is giving me Robert de Niro vibes. Just me?

Why do they keep harping on about the bloody tree? Wasn't Marcus the guy who came to view the house at the start of episode 1 when the estate agent was showing him around?

Why did Beth start off all creepy taking photos of people without their consent on her mobile phone?!? If she was so into photography, surely she would have a proper camera? She seemed to have a personality transplant by episode 2 and came across as all sweet rather than a stroppy nightmare.

What's with all the kissing on the lips between the Irish copper and Beth? Is she grooming her?

What job did Emma's husband quit due to stress? He really doesn't make much effort with Beth, does he?

The Raquel aka Barbara actress really hasn't aged well at all. I only recognised her from her voice which is the same as during her Only Fools days.

Are there any likeable characters in this drama? None that I can see so far. Except perhaps the other lawyer that gets Emma suspended.

Emma is relentless in her pursuit of this stupid kitchen extension. Despite getting dodgy planning permission and then owing her dad and her husband being unemployed (not to mention having an affair with her best friend and NDN) and her other neighbours being totally against it.

She really is a totally single minded bitch who won't listen to anyone.

Meredusoleil · 29/04/2025 20:50

Also, which house was Emma in at the start of episode 1 when she walked across to her old house to see Marcus who had been to view the house with the estate agent?

The suggestion was the son had been killed and buried under the tree.

The suggestion was the son had been killed and buried under the tree.

Where all he had done was plant it

OP posts:
RaraRachael · 30/04/2025 06:55

The mother crying every time she watered the tree was obviously a red herring, but very silly - just like the whole programme.

I think I'm done with C5's dramas and "psychological thrillers". I've wasted too many hours watching them.

Lentilweaver · 30/04/2025 08:43

I was baffled why she was so obesssive about the house extension, to the point of risking everything. The kitchen was fine earlier!
Also baffled that Beth was so naive and easily led with conveniently lesbian tendencies. And that she just let the copper go after basically being tortured. WTF.

the80sweregreat · 30/04/2025 09:31

Why didn’t anyone ask Barbara where her son had gone? They had street parties, they all knew each other for years! Why not just ask politely if he was ok?
They seemed to just assume a lot of things without much evidence!

Meredusoleil · 30/04/2025 20:12

I don't understand why Beth isn't trying to smash the kitchen window by standing up and throwing something at it with her right hand. Afterall, it's only her left hand that is cuffed to the oven.

Meredusoleil · 30/04/2025 20:56

Just finished the last episode. The John character really was a loser.

Can't believe Beth didn't want to prosecute that wacko copper Andi. As if 🙄

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 01/05/2025 07:47

Given how much curtain twitching there was in the street how on earth did Barbara not spot Marcus viewing houses before?

Did John and Sonya end up together? Did he ditch that godawful cardigan?

Why did Emma call her dad at the end?

Did Nick really kill Alan over magpies?

So many questions. Finishing it was a labour of love.

SwanOfThoseThings · 02/05/2025 08:00

Personally, I'd have tried to get the oven door off its hinges. She could either have tried to force it from beneath, or possibly unscrewed the hinges over time, closing the door if needed when Andi was around.

flumposie · 05/06/2025 23:44

Just binge watched this over 3 days. It was insane 🤣
