Another ch 5 drama

We love a ch 5 😂

The feud is a new 6 part drama - airing for 3 nights a week x 2 weeks

What can happen when a neighbourly dispute gets out of hand

Jill and Rupert play a couple - Emma and John who fall out with their neighbours Sonja and Alan over extending their kitchen and an extension

The Feud, an upcoming domestic thriller, takes the tension of "nightmare neighbours" and raises it to a whole new level, blending gripping drama with a cast of familiar faces that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Starring Jill Halfpenny and Rupert Penry-Jones, this Channel 5 drama (https://www.yours.co.uk/leisure/celebrity-tv/channel-5-dramas/) is "full of paranoia“ and promises to pull viewers into a world where trust is scarc
e, and every interaction feels like it could ignite a powder keg.

'Emma and John Barnett, who, along with their teenage daughter Beth, appear to live an idyllic life on Shelbury Drive.

They’re close friends with their neighbours, Sonia and Alan, and despite their foibles, are also fond of older couple, Derek and Barbara.

'The close friendships in this seemingly peaceful street prove to be not quite as harmonious as they seem', teases the synopsis.

'When Emma and John decide to add a kitchen extension to their house, things quickly start to spin drastically out of control.

As objections to the plans are raised, unexpected skeletons and life-threatening secrets begin to rise to the surface.

Laced with menace, The Feud reveals how Emma’s aspirational dream turns sharply into obsession, paranoia, and fear. One decision sets in motion events that have unforeseeable consequences for both her and the people living on her street.'

Forget about the blaring jazz, it's the plinky-plonk piano incidental music that I'm finding hilarious throughout. The series wouldn't seem half as low-rent if they'd have just taken that out 🤣

Also: identical hallway panelling in at least 3 of the houses.

Despite naffness, I am enjoying this and genuinely felt gutted for Beth tonight. Surrounded by selfish bastards.

It’s like comedic music isn’t so incongruous - the whole thing is absolute rubbish 🤣

MichaelandKirk · 21/04/2025 22:36

I loved Rupert PJ in both Whitechapel and Silks. Is it me or has he done something to his face? I can’t pin my finger on it. He is certainly a bit of a wet character in this.

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 21/04/2025 22:37

@MichaelandKirk its just probably him trying not to laugh at how ridiculous it is.

MichaelandKirk · 21/04/2025 22:40

I like it. It has a comedic feel to it. Cannot wait for next few episodes!

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 21/04/2025 22:41

I agree but I don’t think it is meant to be a comedy ! 🤣

Emoleno · 21/04/2025 22:46

I'm enjoying it. Tessa P-J's ageing makes me feel sad though. I just think of her as young, beautiful Raquel. I saw her in the street in Oxford, over 25 years ago, and she looked lovely.

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 21/04/2025 22:56

I didnt think nice husband Rupert PJ was actually having an affair with Mrs bad actor

foxlover47 · 21/04/2025 23:30

I don’t know if this is meant to be funny but it is having a few moments where I’m chuckling … I’m waiting for Pauline to reappear for a “behind the curtain” moment @blondesthen I’ll be in my element

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 22/04/2025 02:19

genuine question…..can you actually take professional photographs with a phone camera ? As I have not seen ‘obligatory in all made for TV dramas grumpy teenage child’ with a camera

the80sweregreat · 22/04/2025 07:24

Lee is very intimidating. I like the way they just keep on fobbing him off over money though! He doesn’t look the sort you’d mess with easily or the other one doing the sawing in a menacing manner. His obviously in cahoots with Alan too.

the80sweregreat · 22/04/2025 07:25

Sonia is pregnant by John. They actually seem a nice couple tbh! Certainly better than the ones they are actually with!

the80sweregreat · 22/04/2025 07:35

Barbara would make a good Pauline! Maybe she’ll appear through that bit of tarpaulin they have up ,
mash up both ‘ the teacher ‘ and ‘ love rat’ as a homage to really bad channel five dramas.
Although this also has elements of a black comedy as well.

Gloriia · 22/04/2025 07:37

I think it is meant to be a dark comedy rather than a serious crime drama but even so it did get a bit farcical last night.

She's a solicitor, why doesn't she see constantly banging on Derek's door is harassment.

As soon as he was on the floor why didn't they just ring 999 and say he slipped.

What a long winded way to reveal pics of the cheating dad to the daughter.

You just would not hire such a hopeless builder demanding cash payments here and there.

Strangely watchable though!

I can imagine his face when his agent got him this gig. But I'm an ACTOR! Needs must, Rupert.

Freysimo · 22/04/2025 08:00

Also, hot shot solicitor has only one coat?

MichaelandKirk · 22/04/2025 08:37

Definitely watching tonight (and tomororow!). Agree re those photos of John cheating. John comes across as a bit dim and that is not the Rupert PJ I know!

TBH its nice to have a drama that has its tongue in its cheek rather than something deadly serious or depressing (i,e Adolenense)

PS: I know he is just acting....

the80sweregreat · 22/04/2025 09:22

I loved how fed up she was! Can’t wonder at it though Dead birds, a broken car back window , her daughter off out all the time , a threatening pair of builders , trying to get Derek to confess to his crimes ( and that awful jazz music) , no sign of the kitchen ever being done , her husband has got another woman pregnant ( although she isn’t aware of that one yet) suspended from her job and the police woman is out to get them all and a nasty dad and a mad security obsessed neighbour.
It’s pretty full on isn’t it! Lol

Who was the person we caught a glimpse of last week with the skeleton mask on? what became of him or her ?

NewAgeNewMe · 22/04/2025 16:49

I’m not sure if I’m thinking it’s so bad it’s good or it’s just bad!

We don't know

the80sweregreat · 22/04/2025 16:52

It’s not great, but it’s oddly watchable! ..
If only to see what they will do with Derek
they should just ring 999 and say he fell over ( as mentioned below) but they probably won’t and make it all worse for themselves I suppose !
