Another ch 5 drama

We love a ch 5 😂

The feud is a new 6 part drama - airing for 3 nights a week x 2 weeks

What can happen when a neighbourly dispute gets out of hand

Jill and Rupert play a couple - Emma and John who fall out with their neighbours Sonja and Alan over extending their kitchen and an extension

The Feud, an upcoming domestic thriller, takes the tension of "nightmare neighbours" and raises it to a whole new level, blending gripping drama with a cast of familiar faces that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Starring Jill Halfpenny and Rupert Penry-Jones, this Channel 5 drama (https://www.yours.co.uk/leisure/celebrity-tv/channel-5-dramas/) is "full of paranoia“ and promises to pull viewers into a world where trust is scarc
e, and every interaction feels like it could ignite a powder keg.

'Emma and John Barnett, who, along with their teenage daughter Beth, appear to live an idyllic life on Shelbury Drive.

They’re close friends with their neighbours, Sonia and Alan, and despite their foibles, are also fond of older couple, Derek and Barbara.

'The close friendships in this seemingly peaceful street prove to be not quite as harmonious as they seem', teases the synopsis.

'When Emma and John decide to add a kitchen extension to their house, things quickly start to spin drastically out of control.

As objections to the plans are raised, unexpected skeletons and life-threatening secrets begin to rise to the surface.

Laced with menace, The Feud reveals how Emma’s aspirational dream turns sharply into obsession, paranoia, and fear. One decision sets in motion events that have unforeseeable consequences for both her and the people living on her street.'

I think his cosy knitwear was the best thing about the whole series ❤️

(I only managed 3.5 episodes) can anyone enlighten me about the significance of the ‘tree’ ?

Yes, I’d narrow that down to the lovely black and cream cardigan he wore (which that character would Never have irl), was the best thing about this programme. Couldn’t watch more than 1.5. Horrendous.

Umanresources · 24/04/2025 16:12

I still don't get the connection between the builder and Alan. The builder still wants paying surely and can tell the police what he knows about Emma and John going to Derek's house. Emma was blowing hot and cold with her dad. Why was the house not still a crime scene? How would she be able to afford to live there with no income? Daughter must have stunk to high heaven after a few days of not washing/toileting. Let's allow the corrupt copper to get away with kidnapping. (Educated solicitor didn't clock the copper saying "your daughter". I shouted at the TV at that one, and I was watching it on my own!). Where had John been, why no police looking for him as a murder suspect, where was he going to go? So many loose ends!
A typical channel 5 drama though.

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 16:22

To be fair , Emma had run ins with the lady cop previously, so maybe she just thought ‘ she knows I have a daughter because she heard me say it once , or seen it on social media ‘ or something like that?
She wasn’t thinking straight snd the cop was so hostile it probably unnerved her a bit and she didn’t click with what she actually said. it’s a long shot , she was all over the place. I’d have asked for a different police person to deal with it ( conflict of interest )

This was quite good until the last episode , so full of plot holes and things that wouldn't happen !

Barbara never need to water the tree , all her tears would've been enough to keep it going . And why did Marcus come home , maybe to prove he wasn't under the tree .

These Channel 5 dramas are so over the top that I enjoy watching them!

I wondered if he disliked his dad due to the violence. It was odd when Emma told him to go see his mum. Surely he popped in before buying the house!

autisticbookworm · 24/04/2025 17:32

I enjoyed it but the last episode was so far fetched

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 17:35

Don’t know why the security man didn’t confront Alan or tell Sonia about the magpies.
killing him was excessive.

NewAgeNewMe · 24/04/2025 17:53

Well. That was proper channel 5 tv. Over the top and ridiculous. I’d watch it again 🤣

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 17:55

It was oddly compelling wasn’t it!
Better than love rat or Cuckoo at least.

marshmallowmix · 24/04/2025 18:30

what's the scoop with Jill HP and channel 5??

it was so bad it was almost good…so many holes in it …watched as easy viewing but was dire! I like Jill HP and Rupert PJ but that was almost like a comedy!

Camera man stabs Alan over magpie’s …that’s extreme.

he was fab is his Spooks days less so in that programme surely he must watch and think wtf 😬😬

Yes I agree killing him was a bit excessive and I'm still not sure what Alan was doing in next door's house in the first place but think the bolt cutters were relevant. It was hard to keep up.

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 19:04

Didn’t Alan use the bolt cutters to get the gate open ? Although it wasn’t that tall and he could have jumped over it .. 😆

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 19:17

Did Lee ever get his cash ?
He looked like a man who wouldn’t have let that one go easily.

Timeforachange67 · 24/04/2025 21:59

I couldn’t get over how quickly they’d put their houses on the market! Especially the murder scene one complete with blood stained walls and floors!

Lentilweaver · 24/04/2025 22:51

OMG such utter tosh and yet I kept watching! But the last episode made no sense at all.

purpleme12 · 24/04/2025 23:53

It was a good entertaining watch. Which is what it's supposed to be

I think the weirdest thing about it is how both houses were up for sale AND empty AND having viewers round, what? The day after all this happened? Ludicrous how they chose to include that point!

themightysossidge · 25/04/2025 00:01

It was a farce in the old sense of a theatre production. Don't try to make too much sense of it 😂

Review

The Feud ReviewChannel 5 has developed a bad reputation leading to the network’s shows being scorned.

In some cases, the criticisms are accurate but not always. At the minimum, Channel 5 is fairly consistent in terms of series quality.

While these shows are never spectacular, they’re almost always watchable and even brainlessly enjoyable.

The Feud was easily one of the best of the bunch. It was impressive that they managed to get this cast together, especially Rupert Penry-Jones who seems picky about the roles he’ll take. Alex Macqueen, Jill Halfpenny, and the rest of the cast were good as well.

The story was unbelievable and even stupid at times, but it was enjoyable nevertheless.

It’d be easy to pick holes in the plot from daylight to dark. Viewers who do that may not enjoy the series.

Viewers willing to accept things for what they are may very well enjoy The Feud.

The biggest problem was the fact that there were six episodes so things got very repetitive at times.

It seemed like some scenes were replayed in every episode. Again, this is a brainless watch that really requires shutting off one’s brain to enjoy.

If viewers can do that, they may find The Feud worth sticking with until the very end.

Utter bollocks .. just finished it.

house up for sale covered in blood … and it’s a murder scene.

Mum really not that bothered about missing daughter.

Marcus seemed quite young! And that tree looked like it was planted about a year ago!

Nutty cctv man would have got a clump from neighbours long before he actually did. Fecking notebook with timings of visitors 🤣😡, freak

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/04/2025 09:18

It’s just weird they had houses up for sale with blood everywhere tho maybe she didn’t allow anyone into HER house

there were 2 others for sale

but to be up while daughter still missing

The timelines for things were all over the place.

lazymum99 · 25/04/2025 10:23

At first I thought the bloody house was a flash back and the selling it was months later. But no. Seems you can show all and sundry round a murder scene

lazymum99 · 25/04/2025 10:24

However, for some reason it was really watchable to the extent that I was waiting on tenterhooks for the next episode

the80sweregreat · 25/04/2025 10:28

I thought some of it was a flashback ( so beloved of books and films and dramas ) but none of it was really.
When they all fast forwarded the cctv footage , the men running around on screen made me laugh! It always does when I see things like that .. it just looks so funny !
