Another ch 5 drama

We love a ch 5 😂

The feud is a new 6 part drama - airing for 3 nights a week x 2 weeks

What can happen when a neighbourly dispute gets out of hand

Jill and Rupert play a couple - Emma and John who fall out with their neighbours Sonja and Alan over extending their kitchen and an extension

The Feud, an upcoming domestic thriller, takes the tension of "nightmare neighbours" and raises it to a whole new level, blending gripping drama with a cast of familiar faces that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Starring Jill Halfpenny and Rupert Penry-Jones, this Channel 5 drama (https://www.yours.co.uk/leisure/celebrity-tv/channel-5-dramas/) is "full of paranoia“ and promises to pull viewers into a world where trust is scarc
e, and every interaction feels like it could ignite a powder keg.

'Emma and John Barnett, who, along with their teenage daughter Beth, appear to live an idyllic life on Shelbury Drive.

They’re close friends with their neighbours, Sonia and Alan, and despite their foibles, are also fond of older couple, Derek and Barbara.

'The close friendships in this seemingly peaceful street prove to be not quite as harmonious as they seem', teases the synopsis.

'When Emma and John decide to add a kitchen extension to their house, things quickly start to spin drastically out of control.

As objections to the plans are raised, unexpected skeletons and life-threatening secrets begin to rise to the surface.

Laced with menace, The Feud reveals how Emma’s aspirational dream turns sharply into obsession, paranoia, and fear. One decision sets in motion events that have unforeseeable consequences for both her and the people living on her street.'

I stuck with it due to the early teasers; I wanted to know who was murdered and why. So many plot holes and who would market their house with blood stains on the wall?
Nosey Nick was the best character but I wished I’d spent my time watching something better.
The police woman was vile, Beth was lovely but unbelievable.
Probably worth watching for Rupert Penry-Jones but he played a wet dishcloth unfortunately.

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 09:30

Surely any estate agent would suggest they got some cleaners in and tried to make it a bit more presentable!
The place wasn’t finished because of the extension either , so even more reason to show the rest off clean and tidy. Show its potential with a decent builder and proper planning granted and so on.

Random exec at Channel 5 to junior writer: "Have you seen that stupid programme on Channel 4 'Love It or List It?' The couples are never happy. I reckon we could turn into a terribly cheesy crime drama. Get on it now!"

Writer: "Yeah, sounds good. How about we get Sally Lindsay and Neil Morrissey to play the lead characters?"

Exec: "Nah, we've got them lined up for a re-boot of Dempsey and Makepeace."

Writer: "How about Jill Halfpenny and Rupert Penry-Jones? I've still got them in my Whatsapp group chat from The Drowning."

Exec: "Nice. I think we're on to a winner."

It was ludicrous but I was still hooked.

When Emma saw that Beth’s tracking on the phone was live… surely any Mum would be straight in the car to follow where the tracking was moving to.

Nah, Emma decided to go and view the CCTV again and rifle through her neighbours drawers instead 😂😂😂😂😂

I thought that too! 😀

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 11:50

They advertise all the J halfpenny dramas !
She seems popular over at channel five.

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 12:04

You can ( apparently) have house sitters for your pets on an app. That might make a good drama around these type of people who do this for a living moving around!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/04/2025 12:40

Maybe life insurance from dead dad ?

I think she saw Emma was on way home

@AlecTrevelyan006. Think you’ve nailed it 😂

Didn't the police ask who nail gunned Nick? Or did Sonia just say oh I nail gunned him because he was strangling Emma. And they said oh ok that's OK then.
Laughing at the bolt croppers just laying on the garden chair.
Absolutely crazy but I enjoyed it!

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 12:59

Dempsey and makepiece ! Lol
The love rat was a real low. At least this latest drama had a bit of intrigue and wasn’t set in a great big grand old house ( as mentioned below )

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 13:00

I think Sonia got away with the nail gunning episode.
As you wouldn’t do in real life.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/04/2025 13:23

Maybe cctv man wouldn’t press charges

he’s going to jail anyway for killing

The police will still be investigating Alan's murder so will probably catch up with Nick at some point. Will he then blow the whistle on Derek's accident?
Also can anyone pull planning permission immediately on a build? Doesn't it have to go to the planning committee monthly meeting?
Although probably just as far-fetched as Emma's dad immediately getting it in the first place.
The fact that quite a few important things happened because Emma didn't read her emails was also far-fetched.
As for the time line, estate agents for all three house, Andi re- instated etc all while Beth was chained up, yes, well...
But it did reel me in and wanting to see how it ended.

We are still waiting for the tree and why so important

I need to know this too. Why was that tree so important?

Did we get an answer?

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/04/2025 13:47

Marcus planted it

Has does Beth use the bathroom?

I also need to know how/when Beth had a wee or a poo. 😬

So many questions!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/04/2025 13:47

Ah ha, so it was so precious to her because he planted it, and he disappeared?

Yeah, despite all the OTT things that may have been exaggerated, it was still a good watch/quite gripping.

I have turned from this to Glass dome dead magpies to dead blue tits.🤢
I wanted to see the copper get her comeuppance. Could Beth have ripped off the oven door?

Is The Glass Dome worth a watch?

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2025 14:04

I just loved how she was sleuthing in heels
id have to dig out my comfy sketchers

It is ok so far. It is quite dark. Not as easy as this.

Blackbirdsinthgarden · 24/04/2025 14:53

I’m glad I came across this thread, as I was going to start one of my own, asking for an explanation. I watched the first episode and it looked promising, so continued to see it through. I think many previous posters have clarified a lot for me, but all in all, I thought the plot and the ending was ludicrous. The characters were unlikeable and not very believable. So many loose ends too, as many previous posters have pointed out. And the sale of the houses? That part was totally unbelievable, they were quickly on sale whilst the poor young daughter was still handcuffed to an oven door?!!! Having her mother’s name listed in her ‘phone as “Emma” not mum - that was an oversight of the writers/producers.

My question is - why did Nick (the guy with the CCTV footage) kill Alan? Was it because of the magpie killings? I know he was an keen ornithologist, but why couldn’t he just use his footage to get him prosecuted by the RSPB? Everything just seemed so far fetched.

I like Jill Halfpenny as an actress, but why, if she is such such a good actress, does she have the same North-East accent (which I love by the way) when she is playing different characters? Surely, a sign of a good actor is to play different roles with different accents? Sally Lindsay is the same. I like her too, but she also plays characters with a regional North-West accent. Nothing wrong with that (I am from the North-West too) but these actors using the same accent all the time (and I can name several - Sarah Lancashire comes to mind) doesn’t seem like character acting to me. Take Alison Steadman, for example. She is a brilliant actress, playing a part with a Yorkshire accent in ‘Fat friends’ to Pam in ‘Gavin and Stacey’ playing a part with a strong London/Essex accent, and playing Mrs Bennett in ‘Pride and Prejudice’ with a very “posh” accent.

’Peter Barlow’ in the series was, well playing ‘Peter Barlow’! (can’t remember his real name).

I suppose famous names attract viewing figures, but maybe it’s time to have some new/fresh actors and give them a chance? The viewers will never know if they like them if they don’t get a chance to watch them.

butterpuffed · 24/04/2025 15:23

This was quite good until the last episode , so full of plot holes and things that wouldn't happen !

Barbara never need to water the tree , all her tears would've been enough to keep it going . And why did Marcus come home , maybe to prove he wasn't under the tree .

These Channel 5 dramas are so over the top that I enjoy watching them!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/04/2025 15:50

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 24/04/2025 13:48

Well I’m guessing he was in contact

as daughter beth knew who he was

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/04/2025 15:58
