I love it!

I actively avoided it when it first came out because I thought it was going to be too geeky and cringe. But I missed a treat. Or maybe I wouldn't have appreciated it at that age anyway, who knows?

Just watched the episode where they get involved with the football fans, and the scene where they are in the pub exchanging worried glances while in amongst a load of footy fans talking nonstop had me absolutely creased up. 😆😆😆 it's just so bloody British and I love it!

Just sharing the love really.

🎵 Hold my hand…
No, that’s not my hand 🎵

I can’t listen to a Fine Young Cannibal song anymore without hearing Moss saying “he was a fine young cannibal.

The trouble with Arsenal is they always try to walk it in.

My fave is the theatre trip.

The theatre episode is my favourite too, but I also love the dinner party and extreme Countdown episodes. Moss is great.

I have a soft spot for Brandy and Crystal at the funfair with their fags hanging out of their mouths.

I'm not a window cleaner!!!!!

Oh man I forgot about this one.
Daft Limmy was the window cleaner that left his ladder.

JaneJeffer · 04/03/2025 14:28

it's just so bloody British
Yet written by an Irish man 🤔

FKAT · 04/03/2025 14:31

One of the best things is the performances by the supporting actors - their absolute deadpan earnestness is what makes it even more hilarious. The career woman in the boardroom, Peter File, the girl with the boss-eyed brother. If they tried to do 'comedy' it would not work. Same with Victoria Wood - she always took the small parts very seriously.

It's a real joy spotting lots of great character actors as well like Benedict Wong who played Prime in the Countdown episode and Dolly Wells who played TWO parts (the Aussie feminist who shags Douglas and the injured model at the dinner party).

And Directed by...., and starring another one!

I'd forgotten the countdown episode. It was so bizarre and hilarious. Moss was excellent.
I think I'm going to have to watch them all again.

Squirrelsnut · 04/03/2025 18:13

The fight between Douglas and his just-dumped girlfriend is genius.
Same episode as the elders of the Internet.

We still call it taypas in our house Smile

We have a restaurant near us that we call Smo-KEY-Jos after the sophisticated restaurant Moss visits Mes -SEE-Jos. 😂

SabreIsMyFave · 04/03/2025 19:31

OMG I can't believe you have waited til now to watch it! 😆 Still, better late than never. It's superb isn't it? 😘 We have all the episodes on DVD along with many other things. (Bought as soon as they became available on DVD.) Glad about this too, as soooooooo many things have been edited/ cancelled/ airbrushed/ whitewashed, some within an inch of their lives, so much so that they're hardly anything like their original selves!

I knew Katherine at university and had no idea until the last couple of years that she was famous! She was great, funny and self deprecating, exactly like she is on TV panel shows (I never watch those normally, but have looked her up on YT).

It's strange, I've occasionally wondered what she was up to, and all that time she was on a sitcom that everybody apart from me was watching.

I recommend Her We Go with Katherine Parkinson. Read Jenny Eclair’s autobiography recently - Katherine’s mum taught her daughter and encouraged her to go to university.

This episode (series 3 episode 4) has been removed from Channel 4 and Netflix.

Oh wow! It is missing on Netflix - I hate this censorship bullshit 😠

CrossPurposes · 04/03/2025 19:58

purpleme12 · 04/03/2025 19:47

Why?

The premise: "No, not Iran, a man! I said I used to be a man!"

MajorBryantIsAnArse · 04/03/2025 20:00

Love The IT crowd. I discovered it last year when DS1 started watching it. It took me a good fair while to get into it but I am now devoted.

And I love Glinner's substack and his contributions on MN as well. Big fan. Huge.

purpleme12 · 04/03/2025 20:02

Oh wow I didn't know it had been pulled

I do actually have the DVDs I just tend to watch on streaming if it's available on there. But good to know so I can watch on there

Garth Marenghi's Dark Place is brilliant.

I'm one of the few people you'll meet who's written more books than they've read.

DitzyDerbyBabe86 · 04/03/2025 20:36

I am so glad there are many more IT Crowd fans out there! I remember watching it when it came out and I watch it religiously every few months. Graham L is an absolute genius! He also appears in a few episodes as different characters.
I agree that the musical one is amazing, but I also love the one where the convince Jen that the black box is he internet.
Agree that Black Books is great too.
As is Toast of London.

DitzyDerbyBabe86 · 04/03/2025 20:37

purpleme12 · 04/03/2025 20:37

purpleme12 · 04/03/2025 20:38

I've got a cold and wheezing so it won't be good to laugh but I might put it on when I get home
