Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Wiki doesn’t say what Teddy does. I thought it was still mysterious?

I’ve got no idea why Sharon is bothered about Teddy finding out about Grant, she doesn’t seem to care about him. Just doesn’t want to admit defeat to Nicola?

Zack’s behaviour is baffling. He always seemed reasonably level headed.

Harvey and Jean - I’m team Jean.

the80sweregreat · 06/03/2025 21:35

Shelling , why team Jean?
She was so horrible to Harv today.
How many times has she messed up and spent all his money once and obviously hates him.
I know he isn't the brightest sometimes, but he means well and she speaks to him like dirt on her shoes! Not sure why they carry on being together really !

storminabuttercup · 06/03/2025 22:31

Sharon isn't bothered too much about jumpers finding out about her and grunt, it's Phil she's worried about

I'm the same 😄 couldn't give a damn about him but don't want phil to suffer more

the80sweregreat · 07/03/2025 06:48

I suppose that Sharon is trying to spare Phil's feelings. She has been most of her life tbh when she's with anyone new or whatever

Shellingbynight · 07/03/2025 08:09

If Sharon thinks that secret is not going to get out she is crazy.

80s as the saying goes, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Harvey has no emotional intelligence and doesn't listen. He knows everyone is annoyed at him but doesn't really see why. Cutting up the shirt of a dead man is just so completely wrong, it shouldn't even need saying.

It was the same with Maya. He discussed it with Jean, she told him why it was wrong to keep giving her money (money he didn't have), he agreed - then went on doing it and lied to her. I would have binned him off at that point.

Southeastdweller · 07/03/2025 08:22

The blanket was a kind gesture and was for Charli, but he should have asked first. Even Kathy didn't think he did anything too bad.

Completely agree with this - you're totally right about the saying 'the road to hell being paved with good intentions' being apt for Harvey.

the80sweregreat · 07/03/2025 09:27

Yeah, I do agree that Harvey can be dim etc , but I just become wound up by how Jean speaks to him ( which I know is only a plot line so he'll have an affair with Kathy !)
He messed up at a bad time , but so has Jean historically and he was very understanding about it all.
The shirt wasn't done maliciously , but he should have asked around first
He is probably just scared of them all especially now Lily is turning into her mum too

Shellingbynight · 07/03/2025 09:53

When Jean messes up it's generally because she's off her meds. In the recent scam when she was being daft for public service announcement reasons it was her own money she lost. But I agree Harvey needs to get out of there for everyone's sake. Although, poor Kathy.

Southeastdweller · 07/03/2025 10:00

Jean can be such an annoying harridan. Her and Harvey aren't prizes and I can see why they got together.

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 07/03/2025 10:38

Anyway, I wouldn't miss Harv if he was written out of it and Kathy needs a new man who isn't him , but I just feel he is unjustifiably made a scape goat sometimes.
It'll probably blow up when he does have this affair with Kathy and I hope he can move out with some dignity and it's not too much of a slanging match ( although it probably will be !)

the80sweregreat · 07/03/2025 10:41

Jean was great with Daniel
That was a partnership I could get behind, but he died;(
She is a good actress though , one of the better ones.

Shellingbynight · 07/03/2025 13:05

I agree, Jean and Daniel were great. I think he was he one true love.

Who would have thought boring Harvey would cause controversy on here 😆

the80sweregreat · 07/03/2025 13:13

Shelling ! I was definitely overthinking my allegiance to Harvey.
A fictional cabbie who hasn't had a decent storyline in ages and did absolutely nothing during the 40th anniversary episodes either.
I sometimes wonder at myself sometimes
😆
I did like Daniel for Jean , they did have chemistry

Southeastdweller · 07/03/2025 13:27

I could never be with someone like Harvey, but I think his dimness / lack of emotional intelligence combined with his kindness (too kind?) and his believable relationship with Jean makes him one of the more credible characters in EE. I was appalled he gave an alibi for Aaron, but again I thought that was believable. Ross Boatman (who went to RADA) plays him really well.

Shellingbynight · 07/03/2025 13:36

80s, I think we all over-identify with one character or another! I know I do.

There is definitely a place for characters like Harvey. You could say he is a bit like Martin - boring, often kind, but sometimes very wrongheaded (and won't be told).

Harvey is the kind of man who does not do well on his own, he's adrift and clueless. I couldn't be with someone I was constantly having to put back on the right track!

I can't think of anyone I'd want to pair him with on EE but it's clearly going to be poor Kathy.

the80sweregreat · 07/03/2025 13:53

Ahh! Thanks ladies.
I do agree with people who are on Jean's side as I do also like her character, but she has been harsh lately.
It's a shame they just put people together because they happen to live opposite.
You rarely see anyone else ' from outside ' do you. Normally ( if you do ) they turn out to be 'wrong uns'!
Kathy was good with Rocky , but not sure about Harvey for her. I feel it'll be short lived or he'll end up leaving through guilt.

Southeastdweller · 07/03/2025 14:15

Is there life outside Albert Square for the residents and therefore outside characters? When I lived in London I never knew anyone who worked within five minutes of their home! I know it’s just a silly soap convention. One reason I found the Aaron story interesting was because he had a life outside the square (some of it horrible).

Shellingbynight · 07/03/2025 14:25

I lived in London for a long time and never had a relationship with a neighbour, and got the tube to work! (I didn't kill anyone either 😆)

placemats · 07/03/2025 14:43

I knew my neighbours when I lived in East Ham, I was 28 newly single divorced woman. They gave me an Xmas present because I played with their little boys - I was the goalie and they took penalty kicks - over the short garden fence. Also gave them permission to retrieve the ball if they wanted. Sweet family.

Eastie77Returns · 07/03/2025 18:06

I’m in East London (lived in East London ‘proper’ in Hackney and now just about still here in a leafier part that was once Essex) and have always known my neighbours. Never had an affair, robbed or killed one though!

Agree Harvey is clueless but very believable and relatable. I think Billy is too, when he had to give that impromptu speech about Martin in the bar it was the kind of bumbling, awkward speech people give in these situations and felt very authentic.

Zac/Nicola/Barney story is ridiculous and boring. I hope this doesn’t drag on until a Christmas big reveal. We don’t care enough about any of them so I doubt viewers are invested in what happens.

I had no idea Jumpers worked in construction either. Wasn’t there some big secret about why they left Dartford in a hurry? Seems that has been forgotten along with Harry’s missing, presumed dead girlfriend.

Kat needs to call social services and have them collect Tommy. She’s terrified of him and Alfie is completely useless.

the80sweregreat · 07/03/2025 18:52

Yes, Billy's bumbling speech was authentic!
Also Horrible Harry's ex girlfriend who may ( or not ) be dead has been forgotten about.
For someone who lives in her ex's basement, Nicola is always well turned out!
( jumpers said it didn't have running water once !)

Eastie77Returns · 07/03/2025 20:54

I’m surprised someone like Nicola, a business owner who apparently likes the finer things in life, is content to live in a dingy basement flat but there you go. I don’t think we’ve ever seen the place on screen. She seems to be permanently wandering around Teddy’s house anyway.

Daisypod · 07/03/2025 21:44

We used to see the flat when Kim used to live in the house with her husband played by Richard Blackwood and his mum lived in the flat.
