Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Link below to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer - these are usually dropped at 6am on broadcast days - and you can read brief synopses of upcoming episodes:

Was wondering why the new head Vicky no longer looks like a teenager. I seem to have forgotten that 20 years have passed.

Fletch / Smithy is in his 50s?!

GuiltyPleasure · 23/02/2025 01:08

They'd have been better doing Martin's funeral off screen, because there isn't a way they could plausibly have Michelle not be there, but if they do an on screen funeral I'd love it if they did it with Sue Tully as a one off cameo appearance.
But, Vicki new head will be interesting & good to see they're not letting the Fowler family go.
I do like Alex Walkenshaw, so I'll give his character a go. He managed the move from Smithy to Fletch, but it might be too soon after the demise of Holby to see him as a new character, but I guess that's the point of soaps, whether you can see past the actor and enjoy the character

Shellingbynight · 23/02/2025 08:15

I haven't watched Holby or Casualty for years (except Charlie's exit) so I don't really know Alex W. It's a good idea to bring Vicki back.

I wonder if Stacey is going to reveal exactly why Martin was in that building for so long. If so she is going to be very unpopular with half the square which could explain her exit.

Porcelainpig · 23/02/2025 09:01

I would have preferred they kept Martin and not brought Vicki back as some weird consolation prize.

Strange and baffling move, but maybe he wanted to move on. We always assume they get booted out, but that might not be the case.

The story doesn't stack up though as something you'd do.

Southeastdweller · 23/02/2025 09:22

I've liked Alex Walkinshaw since The Bill and feel he could fit in really well in EE. Chris Clenshaw's quote implies Ross will be a boring 'everyman' character which confirms my thought they (possibly) got rid of Martin (EE's first born) to make a point about life going on (birth of Julia) even when a person fundamental to the show's history and first episode dies (in the first episode Pauline told her family she was pregnant).

I bet Stacey won't be seen much now after the funeral and she'll just say they became trapped. I doubt she'll mention the long chat prior to him becoming crushed.
The action from the first fire and car crash to the end was probably only a few hours max anyway if it had been in real time.
Sonia went from 1 to 10 centimeters dilated quickly too!

the80sweregreat · 23/02/2025 10:15

Cindy may well try to report Kathy for attempted murder with the shovel, but would they then say how she caused the crash by pushing Ian into the road ? She was attempting to hurt / murder him too. It might be on camera like junior was that time , but it probably isn't knowing how hit and miss that is.

drwitch · 23/02/2025 10:19

Anyone noticed that Chris Crenshaw has Ravi's hair & beard cut

the80sweregreat · 23/02/2025 11:49

I do know the answer to this, but Vicki is Michelle and Den's child ? There wasn't another Vicki was there ? Doubting myself !! ... ( I feel I'm getting her mixed up with Cindy junior lol)
Vicki must be around 39 now and will have family around in Sharon and Albie.
The Vicki that came into the show ages ago had a terrible American accent , hopefully that's not the case this time.
I can't remember too much about her storylines though.
Bringing Michelle back as someone different was a real Turkey. That didn't go down well

Southeastdweller · 23/02/2025 12:06

Vicki is Michelle and Den's child.

Recasting Michelle was another blunder from Sean O'Connor, the then executive producer. He also introduced the story about bins not being emptied often enough which went on for years and axed the Cokers and Ronnie and Roxy. Apparently most of the cast disliked him and he left after a year. Ross Kemp said SoC abused some of the cast.

It's surprising how much influence the EP has on EE.
Reminds me of the stories around the EP of 'Blue Peter ' in the 70s and how much she was disliked too ( reading between the lines during interviews with past presenters)
I guess some are more hands off than others or pick on certain individuals / personality clashes and so on. It must be a tinder box.

the80sweregreat · 23/02/2025 12:31

Vicki and this new family of hers must be rich to consider putting down roots in Walford
Rent or buying isn't cheap , unless she made a mint in Australia running her bar !
( read a bit on facebook about them)

Shellingbynight · 23/02/2025 12:43

Sean O'Connor was a terrible producer. Probably the worst EE had.

I expect Jack&Jack will have a flat for Vicki.

the80sweregreat · 23/02/2025 12:45

Yes. I suppose they will turn up with a few bags between three of them from Australia and live in one of Jacks places.

Which era was he?

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 23/02/2025 12:54

I think cc has been the worst producer for a long time but I did stop watching for a number of years in my 20s

I cannot think of a single storyline he did that I liked. At the time it was said he was asked to leave as so many of the cast complained about him.

Eastie77Returns · 23/02/2025 15:45

I remember the last Vicki’s terrible American accent😂 What was really bizarre was that it vanished after a few weeks and she then had a full on East End accent. I’m sure JackandJack will have a flat for her that she will be able to move into seamlessly with no money issues. I was watching an old EE episode yesterday and Den was renting out a flat to someone…he was charging £25 a week😭

Such a shame Susan Tully couldn’t be persuaded to come back, even if it was a cameo like the one Simon Berry did when Pat died and he had a silent appearance at the end of her funeral episode. It would have been epic if Michelle turned up with Mark Jr while Grant’s still around “Mark meet your dad” doof doof. I can’t remember if Sharon knows about that?

I also just watched the classic two hander with her and Michelle when she finds out Den is Vicky’s dad. She calls Den a bastard and victim blames Michelle, calling her a slag…that would not happen on the BBC today! There was none of the “if you’ve been affected by the storylines..” messaging you get nowadays after controversial episodes. The 1980s was truly a different time lol.

the80sweregreat · 23/02/2025 16:40

No, Sharon was pretty vile to Michelle over it all.
Chelle was groomed by her dad , but yes , it was different times.

heartbroken22 · 23/02/2025 17:19

It's James byes birthday today so happy birthday 😂

I am still traumatised by his death. He should have been there till he was 90 😂 but perhaps he got better offers...

😭😭 2016-2017 says it all

Killing off Ronnie and roxy, what a thing to be known for 😬😬

heartbroken22 · 23/02/2025 17:32

Whatever they have going on between Phil and Linda I hope they keep it they're such good friends didn't think Phil would be like that...didn't think Linda would be friends with someone like Phil

Please no no don't make Linda get with Grant...

Middlemarch123 · 23/02/2025 18:06

I like the Fletch actor, he was in The Bill with Jack. Much better actor, he can do different roles, whereas Jack is just…Jack.

I watched an old episode of The Bill , Scott Marslen character (Phil Hunter) was a sleazy , anything with a pulse chatting up the Laydeez oik.

Jack and Jack is middle aged with DC but still the "Hey , look at me , fancy me" air .

(I;m sure IRL Scott Maslen is lovely but his characters are not)

Middlemarch123 · 23/02/2025 18:30

I read that Grant returns home soon, and that an unnamed character goes with him, which surprises others. I too hope it isn’t Linda!
