The White Lotus - series three - starts February 17th

The Emmy-award winning HBO original series, which offers an inside look at the powerful and wealthy as they navigate complex personal dynamics and face potentially dangerous experiences while on vacation, returns for its third season this month.

"Seeking peace can be a trip," reads the tagline for this season, which was created, written and directed by former "Survivor" contestant Mike White.
This time around, viewers will be whisked away to an "exclusive" resort in Thailand, where an eclectic group of guests and resort employees will play, and likely misbehave, over the span of a week. "The White Lotus" Season 3 guests include a wealthy businessman and his family, three longtime friends who haven't seen each other in a while on a girls' trip and "rugged man with a chip on his shoulder" and his girlfriend, among others.

Anyone else looking forward to this? Starts on Monday and will be shown on Now and Sky. No watching on demand as all episodes will be dropped weekly.

Thing is - this show doesn’t really do that sort of deep undercover stuff, @RosaMoline. Generally they parade the villains in front of us - and then bad stuff happens partly by happenstance or accident.

I mean, it’s pretty obvious Valentin was involved in the robbery. I suspect it’s more likely sweet, inoffensive people like Mook or Lochlan will, through fatal misunderstanding of a situation, cause utter mayhem - even death.

Anyway, if it’s not the monkeys with the gun, it’ll be the snakes killing someone - and the gunshots will be people trying to kill the snakes …

I am wondering if I ought to know a little more about the Thai political scene, though …

I think Valentin is trolling the ladies a) by sending them to the oldies hotel and then b) to the street where they get soaked with water guns.

I think Walter Goggins meets the hotel owner and he inadvertently brings his hitmen back to the White Lotus where they try to finish him off the way they did with his father.

I really really hope Greg gets his comeuppance.

Ok I've noticed some interesting things in Ep 4

On the boat when Saxon greets the Thai ladies rather than say Sawadee Ka he mumbles (really don't want to offend anyone) an offensive German symbol under his breath. Horrible man.

When Mook is in traditional costume she follows Gaitok out of his office smiles sweetly to him and behind his back looks unimpressed and gives off a bored can't be bothered look.

Greg finds Belinda on Instagram. How did he know her full name! Was this a set up and she and her son were lured to the island.

Was Belinda in the will? If she dies her son will inherit so both must die!!

Mook is the first person we see in Ep1 isn’t she? I may have to watch those first scenes again …

@GratitudeGoddess - do you remember when Belinda saw Greg in the hotel reception he was talking to one of the receptionists? I’m assuming he got all her details from them - probably with the help of a hefty bribe.

I always learn so much from the discussion threads, I can't believe I only just found this one.

I loved the first two series', but agree with PPs that this one is so far rather slow and lacking in humour. I find the obnoxious characters easier to take when there are laugh out loud moments to balance them out, but I don't think we've had one so far. I miss Jennifer Coolidge - she stole every scene she was in and was so absurd and self-absorbed.

I dunno who is going to shoot who. They all have a motive so far!
