The Emmy-award winning HBO original series, which offers an inside look at the powerful and wealthy as they navigate complex personal dynamics and face potentially dangerous experiences while on vacation, returns for its third season this month.

"Seeking peace can be a trip," reads the tagline for this season, which was created, written and directed by former "Survivor" contestant Mike White.
This time around, viewers will be whisked away to an "exclusive" resort in Thailand, where an eclectic group of guests and resort employees will play, and likely misbehave, over the span of a week. "The White Lotus" Season 3 guests include a wealthy businessman and his family, three longtime friends who haven't seen each other in a while on a girls' trip and "rugged man with a chip on his shoulder" and his girlfriend, among others.

Anyone else looking forward to this? Starts on Monday and will be shown on Now and Sky. No watching on demand as all episodes will be dropped weekly.

Well, that was a big slice of cruelty …

Definitely 5 stars!

Crushed23 · 07/04/2025 03:40

Yes, very cruel. Although the bodyguards who bullied Gaitok got their comeuppance, I suppose.

Anyone looking on this thread before 10pm, well it's on them.

@Crushed23 I agree.

Damn you Mike White!

Hyperfish808 · 07/04/2025 08:11

Aggggh! I am desperate to watch but can’t yet.

curiositykilledthiscat · 07/04/2025 08:30

Disappointing. I felt oddly unmoved and just wasn’t drawn in. I thought Mike White would pull it out of the bag for the final episode but nope - I didn’t give a shit that those two characters died and Lachlan almost did.

I’m surprised Gary didn’t get his comeuppance.

I hope Mike White brings in some writers for the fourth season.

I wish someone could have told him to go back and try again with the writing of the small revelation we all guessed a couple of weeks ago. I’m sure there could have been weightier, less melodramatic ways of conveying the information - and showing the recipient’s reaction. In a sense all that Drama made it undramatic and lacking in any but the most obvious depth.

So maybe, on reflection, four and a half stars!

Nowmum43 · 07/04/2025 09:33

I thought it was a brilliant ending 🤩

cordelia16 · 07/04/2025 09:35

Are we allowed to post spoilers here? Can we assume whoever comes to the thread now has seen it? I have a few thoughts but really don't want to spoil anyone.

curiositykilledthiscat · 07/04/2025 09:46

Post what you want @cordelia16 , I’m sure people are capable of avoiding this thread until they’ve seen the episode.

I loved this series. So much food for thought. What struck me the most was how Belinda, as soon as she became rich, did the exact same thing to Pornchai that Tanya did to her. Took all of a few hours of being rich to start fucking people over.

TheGlamour · 07/04/2025 10:24

Belinda was - gobsmacking, wasn’t she? Learnt from the best … I wonder if she ‘consciously’ imitated her deceased life mentor - or whether we’re supposed to take away the lesson that this is inevitably what money does to a human soul?

What, though, would Tanya really have wanted? Her death avenged, or a new life for Belinda?

An extra fifty stars for that magnificent story arc.

XiCi · 07/04/2025 10:40

Yes I think what you see from all of the white lotus is how having so much money pollutes the soul and degrades people. In contrast, this episode we have Timothy Ratliff realising that money is meaningless and family is everything and the girls finding meaning in a life affirming friendship. It's really sad that the one who had it all sussed from the beginning, Chelsea, is the one that didn't make it. I thought maybe Rick would get killed and she would end up with Saxon

XiCi · 07/04/2025 10:54

When Chelsea said a few episodes ago that her and rick are yin and yang and they're floating in the water the same shape as the yin/yang with bullet holes in the same places. Everything is just so brilliantly written. I'm going to have to rewatch now I think.

Thanks!

I really liked the final episode (and the season), but I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get to see any reactions to the deaths. Surely Saxon and Chloe would have been affected? Or was it just meant to show that these friendships don't matter once you're back to your "real life"? Amrita seeing how her "sorry, I know you have a lot of mental issues, but you'll have to wait for an hour" played out would have been nice, too.

And not seeing the Ratliffs' reaction to their new lives was disappointing, though I think we can all guess :) Piper will be in for a shock, given she left the monastery for more material comforts. And what was Timothy thinking with his pina colada plot - leave Lochlan to deal with that aftermath alone?

I loved Laurie's speech, but that all felt unresolved, as did the Russians.

youngestisapsycho · 07/04/2025 11:33

As I watched Brenda and Zion go off on the boat I was expecting it to explode!

MagAmberson · 07/04/2025 11:36

The shot of Chloe in the pool smiling back at Greg at the end really jarred, her friend was shot dead and she just carries on unfazed? Or is that the point? Even a mass shooting in the resort doesn't get in the way of other guests still enjoying themselves?

The only people who appeared shaken by what happened were Jaclyn etc. as they appeared to comfort each other on the boat.

TheGlamour · 07/04/2025 11:40

Chloe’s paying a high price for her ‘good position’, isn’t she?

TheGlamour · 07/04/2025 11:47

In one of the news articles it was reported that Mike White told Walton Goggins that Rick was the coolest character ever in the show. I don’t know about that - but on reflection it was a smart move to introduce a character suffering with anhedonia to a location where every possible pleasure was on offer. And to pair him with someone so unusually open to sheer happiness.

XiCi · 07/04/2025 12:02

I think Chloe, the whole season, was portrayed as completely cold hearted, someone that will do anything for money. I don't think Chelseas death would have fazed her in the slightest.

Best lines of each season for me would be
S1:Treat the guests like they are sensitive children
S2: Do you know these gays?
S3 You're a Libra rising for god's sake

I inadvertently called it, well rather @Twiglets1 did and now I'm truly gutted. I honestly did not see that coming 😩 ..

Would love to know about the behind the scenes drama!
