Continued discussion for series 3 of The Traitors UK.

Frankie and Anna suspect Minah.

Didn't Leanne mention Minah as well?

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 15/01/2025 22:47

That jumping up and down smashing the chair about after Linda left was silly.

Agree - what is it about the male psyche that makes them react so aggressively? I understand that he feels ecstatic at being vindicated, but what did that chair ever do to him? This series also highlights how differently the game is played by men and women, particularly in the case of the Traitors. It also might explain why we feel more on the side of the Traitors this series. Linda to Minah: "Vote for me if you have to, and I hope you go all the way." Kieron to Wilf: "I'm voting for you. Parting gift." Which still almost ended up wasted on the dense bunch remaining...

Lentilweaver · 16/01/2025 11:44

Will be so annoying if Minah leaves and Charlotte wins. As she pointed out, all she has done is fake a Welsh accent!

JaneJeffer · 16/01/2025 11:49

Minah needs to try and turn people onto Leanne because the way she's behaving could easily be taken for traitor moves!

placemats · 16/01/2025 11:59

Linda and Fozia were funny on The Traitors: Uncloaked last night. For the life of me I cannot understand why Alexander reacted the way he did after getting out of the coffin.

Charlotte will make an excellent Traitor. Good choice from Minah. Jumping Jake has to go.

TheFifthTellytubby · 16/01/2025 11:23

That's how the subtitles interpreted the word, too!😂He was saying his own name but it came out like that because of his accent...

Yes I knew that, and it made me laugh.

iwillfollowyou · 16/01/2025 12:17

So when the banished/murdered traitors and faithful go on uncloaked I wonder if they know anything further ahead or if they literally only get to see what we have seen. Are the contestants allowed to talk after they leave/filmings finished?

LindorDoubleChoc · 16/01/2025 12:27

@EdithBond "In the first two seasons they did bury people in coffins."

When was this please? or anyone else who knows.

The marvellous funeral sequence in series 2 was just 3 people lying above ground in open coffins with everyone else and the game continuing around them (and then a wonderfully hammy slamming shut of Diane's coffin lid by Claudia although most of us on the thread at the time thought Diane had probably been allowed out for that shot).

So when else has a traitor been in a coffin, buried under the earth?

They’ve answered one Traitor’s question today, about how the filming of the murders happen.

Sounds like the turret scenes are not a set!

Transcript (AI generated so there may be spelling issues!)

MH “Can I ask you one Traitor's question, please?

RO: Yes, because we're doing a bonus episode with lots of Traitor's questions.

Because the sheer deluge, holding back our metaphorical door. Josephine Bradley says, I can't get my head around how and when the murder is done. We see Claudia leave the letter on the chair once voting has happened, and then the murdered contestant picks it up from the chair.

MH: But people seem to leave and arrive in groups in the Land Rovers, and they arrive in groups to the breakfast room. How do they choreograph the sort of leaving and departures and all of that business then?

RO: Well, everyone lives in their own separate accommodation, and everyone's driven in separate vehicles, just so you can't ever say, it was interesting that John didn't come home last night.

MH: They're like a band that have fallen out of separate limo stages of life.

RO: Exactly, separate limos. And if you're one of the murderers, then your Range Rover simply does a few laps around the block until all the Range Rovers have gone.

MH: The block is quite big in the Highlands though, isn't it?

RO: The block is very big, exactly.

MH: You could be driving by in Venice.

RO: Exactly. And so they will come around and they will then come back to the house, park up, and they will then film the discussions about the murder. You will, right at the end of the whole series, anyone who has been a traitor at any point will go back and film lots of other little shots of them just walking and talking, you know, just establishing shots.

MH: All that interstitial bit with the hoods in the...

RO: Yeah, exactly. So they're not having to do any of that on the time. Yeah, so the cars will all leave as if they're going to where they're going.

Three of the cars, or two of the cars, will then circle back, go back to the turret, film the stuff and then take them back to their place. The actual murders, the one thing you always see the person coming in and looking at the bit of paper with their name on it, that will always be shot afterwards as well.

MH: Well, they're in different clothes for that, so next morning and not. But the great thing about that is, which I'm so relieved as a perennial watcher of reality TV is when they've just come out of, they're still coming down off their round table, you don't have people go in and burst into tears. I really like the fact that on that show, you don't have to watch people just heave through tears and snort and whatever while they're explaining what they've been.

RO: As so often in-game shows, the truth of the story is always there, but occasionally there will be shots that they do afterwards because you cannot do everything at the time, because every single shot you do takes about an hour to set up, and so the actual mechanics of the day have to continue.

Occasionally things are shot out of order just because you have to be making a television show. But we will have loads more Traitors questions on our bonus episode, which will come out tomorrow.

This is interesting! I was wondering how they did it with Charlotte and Minah as surely Charlotte would have left in one of the cars whilst Minah was in the turret choosing who to recruit

They’ve used coffins before but I can’t recall them burying them underneath the earth. Seems a bit of a health and safety risk to me. Grin

No one was in the buried one - they got confused on their Roman numerals!

CaveMum · 16/01/2025 12:45

Here's the buried alive task from S1

CaveMum · 16/01/2025 12:47

I maintain that Alexander could be ex-MI6 - Foreign Office/Diplomat is always used as a cover job for spooks <taps side of nose>

Periodiclabelle · 16/01/2025 12:49

We really saw another side to Leanne last night and it wasn't pretty. She has been very smug from the start.

Frankie and Alex are the only two still below the radar and I don't think either are dumb, so hats off to them. In my dream world they'd be recruited as Tratiors and share the prize with Minah. Charlotte I am indifferent to. The others can all be banished/murdered.

Phthia · 16/01/2025 13:16

The producers ought to introduce a penalty whereby the prize pot goes down by £500 every time someone uses "yourself" incorrectly.

shayri · 16/01/2025 13:18

has leanne been seen without makeup? It must take her about 2 hours to apply it!

happinessischocolate · 16/01/2025 13:19

I love the fact that grave VII had already been dug up in preparation of them getting their numbers wrong 🤦‍♀️

Phthia · 16/01/2025 13:21

Anna really bugs me with her hysterical claims that the traitors have been gunning for her from the start. If that were the case, surely they'd just have murdered her the first night instead of whatsisname, and they certainly wouldn't have invited her to join them.

As for all that hysteria when she came out of the coffin - I suspect she only went into it when the players were on the way. I was seriously annoyed that some people then started holding it against Alexander that he wasn't similarly hysterical.

Agreed. Even DH (who only gives it a cursory watch) said "surely she's going over the top with her reaction? She won't have been in there all night. That's going to look suspicious to everyone"

Then Alexander climbed out smiling and I was sitting there thinking "Nooo, Alexander - don't smile and laugh - that looks so dodgy!"

Then Frankie getting the numbers wrong could easily be interpreted as looking like a deliberate sabotage.

When you remove the fact that you know who the traitors are, you can easily imagine overthinking absolutely anything.

I still don't know why Minah handed her drink to someone to "look after". Or was it to then turn around and say that although it might have looked like she was marking her, the fact that they weren't chosen for the death match must mean she's a faithful?

The producers ought to introduce a penalty whereby the prize pot goes down by £500 every time someone uses "yourself" incorrectly.

I have a theory about why people do this - the longer and gentler-sounding "yourself" fulfils the function of a polite form of "you" that so many other languages have, but which is missing in English. There seems to be a misguided notion that it's somehow rude and/or confrontational to address someone directly as "you", which is why the use of "yourself" has crept in to soften it. Still drives me nuts when people do it though - even Lisa was at it last night, and she really should know better!

CaveMum · 16/01/2025 13:33

But she didn't hand her drink to anyone. She just asked Anna to keep an eye on her drink while she (Minah) was out of the room and asked that if they all moved to a different room before she got back could she take her drink with her.

Both perfectly reasonable things for a woman to ask of another woman - we've all had it drummed into us not to leave drinks unattended.

Bouledeneige · 16/01/2025 13:34

I thought yourself might be a regional idiom - ie as in standard use in Scotland? Any Scot's confirm?

Maybe Anna is claustrophobic, but she can't have been in there for long. The production team could have made that mission a lot more exciting (the riddles were ridiculously easy to solve, they didn't even have to run to the destinations, and when they got there the coffins weren't hard to locate). It all seemed a bit lame to me. Like, Alexander's coffin in the middle of the lake should have been way harder to retrieve, maybe involving rowing out to it rather than simply pulling it in with the convenient rope.

I thought the same about Frankie getting the grave number wrong looking like sabotage, however with no shields on offer there was nothing to sabotage!

I think the production team should improve the missions and have some opportunity for sabotage in every mission to give the faithfuls something to go on. Maybe the traitors could be rewarded somehow for sabotage (a secret traitor prize pot?). I just feel it needs a bit more jeopardy but maybe I'm being too picky because, don't get me wrong, I love the show.

whosaidtha · 16/01/2025 13:42

@Turkeyhen I thought this. In previous seasons there was x amount up for grabs I always thought the traitor pot should be made up of any money they don't bank. Eg out of 15k they get 10K so 5k goes to the traitor pot.
But my husband pointed out that this is already a game show called The Mole.
