Starting this thread (as I did this time last year) as the comments on the episodes on telly addicts are always so funny it makes it worth while sitting through the totally unconvincing plots, characters, so called relationships and ...

But who knows maybe this year will be different!

BBC One - Silent Witness, Series 28, Exodus 20:17 - Part 1

The body of an elderly woman found in a cave presents a disturbing mystery for the Lyell.

And now I'll say what I was thinking. It would have been great if she'd called Harry to come and give her away (when they were thinking of a big wedding) and they had both realised there was chemistry and always had been and ran away together.

Yes!!!! Omg yes that would’ve been so much more believable than her with muscly, robotic Jack

BillStickersIsInnocent · 05/02/2025 16:22

Or Michael Landes could have swooped back in, they were great together!

FuzzyPuffling · 05/02/2025 19:09

Jack reminds us of Data, the android in Star Trek.

Mochudubh · 05/02/2025 20:07

But less animated.

gingercat02 · 05/02/2025 20:09

I actually loved yesterday's episode. The awful storyline interspersed with Nicky's spur of the moment wedding planning.
I think they wanted her happy ever after, but Jack just isn't it.
I'll be back again no doubt.

I couldn't understand why they seemed to get married in London but ended up outside Birmingham Town Hall and the Floozie in the Jacuzzi.

Oh was it? I thought it was (or at least meant to be) Trafalgar Square. Admittedly I haven't been to Birmingham in about 20 years and I'm not sure I've ever seen TS in real life but it thought we saw the plinth of Nelson's Column and the shape of the fountain looked like TS while the Floozie's reclining on some steps isn't she?

IwantToRetire · 05/02/2025 20:18

The BBC crime drama Silent Witness filmed the wedding scenes in Trafalgar Square to say goodbye to London. The show will move to the West Midlands from next year.

According to google AI as google seems to think the links it finds aren't real but somehow AI will make them real?!

It was Trafalgar Square right by the base of Nelson's column and as the camera circled them dancing you could see all the landmarks around the square.

It was Trafalgar Square

Pretty sure Me+Em or Wise must have custom made her wedding dress 😍

I cried at the sadness of the ex Commando with schizophrenia caused by traumatic brain injury whilst serving and the devastation it caused

The daughter at the end 😢

The gratuitous unnecessary bedroom scenes 😱

The hair 😍

Kit and Harriet 🥰

The comical dogging couple 😵

IwantToRetire · 05/02/2025 21:05

I thought the young girl playing the daughter was really good.

And her poor mum, showing how women cant rely on those who are meant to keep them safe.

The programme seemed quite keen to point out the damage done to those in the military. This week's political message.

I'm getting remarried in that frock (just don't tell DH)

What have I forgotten?

Phthia · 05/02/2025 23:14

What have I forgotten?

Dogging is still something to snigger about.

Phthia · 05/02/2025 23:18

It seemed all a bit sad that the only people they could get to come to their wedding were their relatively recent work colleagues. Not even Jack's niece or Clarissa, FFS?

Hotafternoon · 04/02/2025 22:06

I've hardly watched any of this latest series it's so awful.

Nicki's dres has been the only highlight.

It used to be so good too. 🙁

I thought this series was an improvement on the previous one. I like the new characters, and at least they were showing the cops chasing and arresting the villains rather than Jack.

Phthia · 05/02/2025 23:26

I guess the people of Birmingham should start worrying about the imminent sharp rise in gory murders in their vicinity. Good news for Londoners, though.

woodenbatandball · 06/02/2025 00:07

I called it that Harriet would be Best Man! I hated the last episode. It was so cringe!

woodenbatandball · 06/02/2025 00:09

@gingercat02 I liked
It when Jack was
Getting it on with all the female
Detectives

Agapornis · 06/02/2025 00:43

Definitely Trafalgar Square. That's the National Gallery in the background (banners NG200, an event on in May last year). They really blew the budget on that final location hire! Wish they'd spent some money on less vom-inducing music.

Felt the murders at the restaurant were rather glossed over. Did they explain anything, beyond that it happend to be a Syrian restaurant?

WellsAndThistles · 06/02/2025 01:01

I've never watched this but need a new thing to binge. Can I start with more revent seasons or would it be best to start from the beginning?

BartokRules · 06/02/2025 06:05

@TheHillsIsLonely it wasn't a real one, it was one of the flat pack piano cases with a v good electronic piano keyboard inside.
Like wedding pianists use to take from one fancy location to another!

I found it last series and wondered how I'd ever missed it. I then went back and watched from the beginning. It was as interesting from a fashion/social perspective as anything else. The changing phones, cars, clothes, haircuts, etc. It took me back. My DC were tinies when the first series came out and it was as fascinating watching the changing styles as it was the plots.

I wondered if I'd missed something about why Syrian restaurant was target. Final scene must surely have been filmed in middle of night in Trafalgar Square. There was no one there apart from convenient guitarist!.

Yes. Definitely Trafalgar Square. You could see the National Gallery x
