Starting this thread (as I did this time last year) as the comments on the episodes on telly addicts are always so funny it makes it worth while sitting through the totally unconvincing plots, characters, so called relationships and ...

But who knows maybe this year will be different!

BBC One - Silent Witness, Series 28, Exodus 20:17 - Part 1

The body of an elderly woman found in a cave presents a disturbing mystery for the Lyell.

SPOILER ALERT. So Nicki dealt with a fatally ill passenger, another two who were showing the same symptoms, performed CPR and used a defibrillator, climbed into the hold, did a living post mortem, managed to be in contact with London, had an unscheduled stopover in Azabhajan and STILL managed to get off a nine hour flight looking better than I do when I land at Heathrow 😍

😂 She emerged from her Jodie Foster Flightplan movie remake looking better than I look when I'm ready for a night out - which is neither difficult nor often.

I love Kit. Think she's a great character & a very watchable actress.

Crazy storyline this week. As soon as we saw the actress playing the nurse I was like, "ah, famous person, she'll be integral to the story!"

Jack is expendable, let's move him on please.

Star of the show was undoubtedly Nikki’s red blouse 👌🏻

Got to be Wyse or Me + Em naturally

What a wacko story. Are the producers sniffing glue when they choose the scripts?

I mean, what are the chances?

IwantToRetire · 29/01/2025 00:37

It's strange that this series is knitting in many recent actual political incidents into their story lines.

Is it genuine interest / concern (flying under BBC radar) or is it a desperate attempt to be taken seriously?!

Although I think they have in the past ventured into politics but usually in an other country which allows Nikki to be stuck in a tomb or was it a coffin for hours, and to conveniently get rid of then current boss of Lyle by having him blown up.

As a PP said, get rid of Jack and let the women get to work.

Its just as surreal as previous series but in a different way.

Maybe next storyline they will solve the great pot hole conspiracy theory ...

It makes sense to venture into the political when the whole four staff at the Lyle single handedly resolved an international political incident, that potentially involved chemical terrorism. No wonder Sunetra Sarker didn't feel the need to hang around!

TheHillsIsLonely · 29/01/2025 01:32

I had to watch tonight's episode late tonight and so have just finished it. So that's the dog a pp mentioned! It put me off ever flying with a pet if they have to go in the hold in conditions like that. I slightly hoped that Nikki would run off at the end in a sudden plot twist with Ade, (played by Gershwyn Eustache Jr).

The last two episodes are next week, called I Believe In Love. I think I've just spotted a huge spoiler about that but I'll keep firmly schtum.

When you're making small talk and someone asks you "how was your flight?" Well... we were diverted via Azerbaijan and man was vomiting blood.

Poor Niki was just sat there hoping to catch up on some new release movies and enjoy 1st class perks

Must admit I was wondering whether the airline gave her a refund as she was working her socks off for most of the flight.

LittleMonks11 · 29/01/2025 08:02

Ade and Nikki had more chemistry during an actual chemical attack than Nikki and Jack.

FizzingAda · 29/01/2025 09:08

I quite enjoyed it. It's now like Midsomer Murders, totally bizarre and ludicrous plots that takes itself oh so seriously. That's why it's entertaining. As long as you don't expect it to make sense.

Zombella · 29/01/2025 10:51

I really enjoyed it. I was gripped and liked the moments of humour ("this is my gee gees phone"). Bonkers storyline but I was entertained through both episodes.

After all she went through, Nikki looked better than I do after a 20 min power nap on the sofa!

Harriet reminds me of Carolyn in the Radio 4 sitcom, Cabin Pressure (played by Stephanie Cole). Both in voice and mannerisms. I'm warming to her character very much.

@TheHillsIsLonely I said the same to my dd when we saw the dog in the crate in the hold 🥺

Ha ha I said same to dh. Couldn't imagine any of my dogs being ok to be in a cage in a dark place. Of course I know they most likely do fly like that. If it was just for a holiday I'd leave them at home with family. I think my girls would be traumatised 😢 I know there was a serious issue going on but I was hoping Nikki would at least pat the dog 😂

kerstina · 29/01/2025 12:32

I thought the episodes were very good. They really built the tension up on the plane made worse by the claustrophobic feeling of the plane. I also felt sorry for the poor dogs flying in the dark. Best episode so far !

LittleMonks11 · 29/01/2025 12:48

I think it would have been 👌to see the dog being reunited with its passenger owner as they deplaned onto the tarmac.

TBH I was more worried about the dog than than any of the humans!

IwantToRetire · 29/01/2025 16:53

Lots of owners pay the extra to have their pet fly in the passenger cabin with them.

Not sure if you book a seat for them. Or whatever travel container they are in is stored at the back of the cabin and you can pop along and talk to them.

For years I thought pets didn't fly in the hold because it wasn't pressurised.

PS is it Lyle or Lisle?

Why didn't the plane divert to the nearest city? Very Sick patient onboard?

I think because it was in Afghanistan (?) so that's why they went to Azerbaijan.

Probably something to do with treaties? Or something.

A lot of their story lines are reflecting recent political incidents.

Cricket??!!

Oh yes I've just got to that but! I'd written the post while still watching it.

Love the tall bearded crew member. 😊

Bixterret · 29/01/2025 19:06

Nicki and the nurse should have worn face masks?
