Anyone watching?

I’m thinking the gritty clay is not going to be very plastic and will dry and crack easily.

(I used to work in a soils lab so spent a lot of time assessing the plasticity of clay - also known as playing with mud).

AlicePottery · 02/03/2025 20:06

I do wish they'd give them more time.

@SabrinaThwaite yes that clay looks hard work

As an aside I do prefer Princess as a kiln technician

Evening all - didn’t like the bit at the beginning

I’ve ranted to DH about this many times. Why do they need to do these desperately unfunny intros?

Saucery · 02/03/2025 20:09

I was expecting something more impressive as the example. And I’m having trouble seeing James’s work out like the drawing.

Chrysanthemum5 · 02/03/2025 20:09

I sometimes wonder if the things like the intro are cut out for audiences where they have more adverts. So if you see a BBC programme on a channel where they have ads then they either last longer or bits are cut out

Evening! Slightly behind the live but will catch up.

Rich's lovely grinning face when describing the mouth of hell was hilarious.

Is Siobhan wearing irregular people? She wears some quite unusual stuff and always looks great.

There's a potter who specialises in making cups and stuff that looks exactly like ripped up bits of cardboard, I'm guessing this is his inspiration. It should look amazing if he gets it right.

I think it is to do with the adverts, but in the opposite way. The programme is an hour and a quarter, with 5 (?) ad breaks, so they need to pad out the first segment.

stilldumdedumming · 02/03/2025 20:14

Irregular people isn't what I mean. What do I mean? The clothing brand that looks like jammies.

I can think of many more fitting and interesting ways they could pad out the beginning if they have to. The forced and unfunny sketches are just painful. I wonder if the presenters are embarrassed at having to do them? I would be!

Just had a Google, well I never! Grin Not to my taste, but clever. Extremely ambitious for a piece like this.

My favourite morning coffee mug is one of those b/w ones the challenge is based on.

I agree. Bring back the History segments, or longer segments on the Challenge experts.

Yes, I like her too.

Putting stickers on - weird challenge

Fatloss · 02/03/2025 20:24

As regards the design it’s really subjective compared to the application. Can’t imagine it making a difference anyway - just a bit of fun.

Wolfcub · 02/03/2025 20:32

Painting a brown thing brown

AlicePottery · 02/03/2025 20:32

Ooh James might be in danger for not sticking to the brief 😲

CatDogGuineaPig · 02/03/2025 20:32

I really hope James's comes out we'll because he's my fave... Steven's looks great

SabrinaThwaite · 02/03/2025 20:35

Steve has gone Gruffalo.

AlicePottery · 02/03/2025 20:35

I really like Steve's so far. James has been my favourite since since beginning, I'll be gutted if he doesn't win 😅

OP posts:
Fatloss · 02/03/2025 20:42

I suspect James will be safe, unless what he did was much easier to achieve, for example
maybe less small bits like teeth to come off or crack during the firing.

Chrysanthemum5 · 02/03/2025 20:44

I like the concept of James' fireplace so I hope it's ok

AlicePottery · 02/03/2025 20:44

James has nailed it 🎉

OP posts:
Chrysanthemum5 · 02/03/2025 20:45

I prefer Steve's I think it looks more on brief

Wolfcub · 02/03/2025 20:45

Steve's is good
