New drama series starts wed and thur for 3w

Patience Evans (Ella Maisy Purvis) works in the criminal records department of Yorkshire Police, cataloguing and filing the evidence produced during major cases.

A young autistic woman, she craves routine and order, relishing the solitude and structure her job provides but she yearns for more.

A brilliant, self-taught criminologist, Patience has an instinctive eye for crime scenes and a passion for problem-solving.

Detective Bea Metcalf (Laura Fraser) is the first person to spot and utilize her talent, which opens a door into a whole new world for Patience.

Patience attends a regular support group for autistic adults where they discuss the barriers in operating in a neuro-typical world and how best to navigate it.

All neuro-divergent characters within the series will be played by neuro-diverse actors, including the title role of Patience.

Patience has a special interest in solving puzzles and a secret interest and talent for criminology as she can read a case file or a crime scene and make connections that others can’t.

Detective Bea recognises Patience’s unique insight and takes her under her wing.

She wants her to work with her team on the frontline of policing.

As they start to become more closely involved professionally, however, it becomes clear that they may have a more profound and lasting impact on each other’s lives.

@JewelleryCat so the only astrid version there is - is French but English subtitles

is that right ?

Yeah, that’s correct 🙂

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2025 15:49

Thanks both. I will have to watch in silence

i always have subtitles on as deaf but can’t listen in French but see in English as brain will explode

In ep 3 , the manager of the museum said he ran off when the victim was pushed by him and fell in the river [can't remember her name] so how did she make her way back to the dinosaur display where the cleaner found her dead .
Did I miss something ?

It really wasn't clear.
Sometimes the writers, directors and actors have it all clear in their minds but it's not clear to audiences .
I think the taxi driver mentioned, who name changed and had a previous conviction for some sex crime might have brought her back to he museum in his taxi and she collapsed and died later.
That was episode 3.
Episode 4's denouement was equally rushed.

Piggywaspushed · 17/01/2025 19:59

I thought I was right and have just checked. No dinosaurs in York Castle Museum.

Rictasmorticia · 17/01/2025 20:28

You can. Watch Astrid Murder in Paris back seasons. New series coming g on More4. So much better than Patience.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2025 20:47

So was it secondary Drowning

Tigresswoods · 18/01/2025 04:16

Peter Venkman. There was a character called Peter Venkman. And no one said, "what like the ghostbusters character?"

Piggywaspushed · 18/01/2025 07:40

I know! I thought it was deliberate but it seems not. That sounds a Flemish sort of name so maybe it's pinched form the original source without much thought.

It really distracted me!

I bet you did - as did I. Who you gonna call?

cakeorwine · 18/01/2025 17:20

I live in York so it's nice to see York on the screen.
Bit surprised to see the dinosaur exhibition at the Castle Museum. Maybe I missed it!

I was trying to work out where the car park at the start was - maybe it's in Antwerp?

I've found the "bus stop" though - in Bishophill

DearestItIsSnowing · 19/01/2025 19:49

This is one of the articles I’ve found about the Patience locations, but I’ve enjoyed reading several more.

I live in a small city which is often used as a film location, and get used to the programmes showing improbable journeys, when the hero goes from A to B via Z, which is nowhere near A or B but which photographs well. It must be far worse if you live in London.

I walk past there quite a lot - and didn't recognise it until I Googled it.

Yeah. Patience is just the English Astrid. It’s adapted from the French tv series so I think it’s the same storylines in Patience. I can’t remember if the museum storyline is the same regarding the dinosaurs but I think it is

bibliomania · 19/01/2025 22:15

The French e2 is different (unless they changed the order). I'm developing a girl crush on the French detective.

Astrid is more of a build up to me with how she connects to the different characters which I know we haven’t seen that with Patience yet but Raph is just amazing I think, she’s very no nonsense which Bea is trying to be but I don’t think that is coming across at the moment

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2025 22:34

French speak so quick

That storyline is v. familiar. Sure there was a Netflix series, French, I think, with the woman's name in the title...

[short delay]

Astrid! that's the puppy! I like Mark Benton, but not keen on these re-makes if I've already seen the original.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11950864/

It is Astrid from Walter Presents that came our years and years ago, re-done. Series 2 of Astrid is out on WP from Fri BTW. Weird timing for this one to begin tbh! They are so similar it's like watching it again and annoying because they've not changed anything at all to keep viewers who watched the original.

duc748 · 19/01/2025 23:58

There's been three seasons of Astrid already, though. S3 is available now online, and as you say, the next is due out in a few days

My exact, and really distracting, thoughts!

coffeeandteav · 20/01/2025 18:12

@MolkosTeenageAngst

I came onto say that. I feel they are somewhat portraying ger with boy ASD. Not people pleasing maskers like myself and my dd. Which brings its own struggles.

coffeeandteav · 20/01/2025 18:37

I practice what I want to say when on the phone.
Don't write it down though.
