New drama series starts wed and thur for 3w

Patience Evans (Ella Maisy Purvis) works in the criminal records department of Yorkshire Police, cataloguing and filing the evidence produced during major cases.

A young autistic woman, she craves routine and order, relishing the solitude and structure her job provides but she yearns for more.

A brilliant, self-taught criminologist, Patience has an instinctive eye for crime scenes and a passion for problem-solving.

Detective Bea Metcalf (Laura Fraser) is the first person to spot and utilize her talent, which opens a door into a whole new world for Patience.

Patience attends a regular support group for autistic adults where they discuss the barriers in operating in a neuro-typical world and how best to navigate it.

All neuro-divergent characters within the series will be played by neuro-diverse actors, including the title role of Patience.

Patience has a special interest in solving puzzles and a secret interest and talent for criminology as she can read a case file or a crime scene and make connections that others can’t.

Detective Bea recognises Patience’s unique insight and takes her under her wing.

She wants her to work with her team on the frontline of policing.

As they start to become more closely involved professionally, however, it becomes clear that they may have a more profound and lasting impact on each other’s lives.

I watched it, and thought it was good! I agree that she was rude to follow Patience into her group. But she then obviously realises that her son is possibly autistic too.
Looking forward to the next episode.

@JewelleryCat I just assumed she had her phone set to 12hrs

My friend does this where mine is 24 so would have said 19.04

I did not think of that, the phone thing really annoyed me lol. Mine is set to 24 hours too

caramac04 · 08/01/2025 23:14

Really enjoyed this. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses.
I’m nt but have worked a lot with nd children and can see how many kids have valuable skill sets.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2025 23:24

😂@JewelleryCat the simplest answers the obvious

I wonder why her ex got custody and her 2nights

Rare for a mum to not get least 50/50

I think Bea shows autistic traits, which would makes sense ref son I guess.

I'm hoping that it warms up a bit.

JewelleryCat · 09/01/2025 00:21

@Blondeshavemorefun its hard for me because I have also watched Astrid: Murder in Paris so I shouldn’t but I am comparing also lol. Like the custody thing with their son, that happened in the French version so I’d say at the moment, Patience is similar but different at the same time

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2025 08:11

I haven't seen either @JewelleryCat so this is new to me

I thought it was really good.
I haven't seen the Astrid one.

And it's making York look grey and dreary!

I actually thought York looked lovely and am thinking of a weekend there (I'm from Dublin, never been to York)!!

JewelleryCat · 09/01/2025 11:19

What did annoy me though is Beatrice knows Patience is autistic so why she didn’t say that to Mark Benton’s character, I don’t know

It is better in real life:-)

bibliomania · 09/01/2025 13:30

I thought it was very clunky, but I enjoyed seeing York. I hadn't realized it was based on a French series - might give that a go.

Sparkletastic · 09/01/2025 13:40

For the people that have watched Astrid - is this a direct copy? If so I'm unsure whether to watch as I love Astrid so much I'm doubtful that anything can match up. I felt the same about Call My Agent - fun but essentially a poor imitation of Dix pour cent.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2025 13:51

E2 is tonight

I would say some aspects are similar and some are different but good in its own way. I don’t want to give too much away for people who haven’t seen Astrid because at the moment, I can tell what bits are similar and what bits they have changed but you should definitely try it, even if it’s just for the scenery

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2025 13:59

I've found on ch 4 so will download e1 but watch after this has finished

There are 3 series so in each one is there a diff puzzle /murder to solve

I too thought York looked lovely and am from Dublin @Wishimaywishimight and hope to visit York some weekend this year.

Bankholidayhelp · 09/01/2025 16:28

Filmed in Antwerp as well as York apparently

kerstina · 09/01/2025 16:51

Really enjoyed this as it’s a bit different. I can see a lot of dramas based on neurodivergence in the future . In fact I might have a go at writing one !

I saw that at the end of last nights episode when C4 show the map and filmed in bit. I wonder why it was filmed in Belgium too

Mairzydotes · 09/01/2025 20:54

It reminds me a bit of Steve Pemberton's character in Whitechapel.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2025 20:58

Hope e2 is as good
