New drama series starts wed and thur for 3w

Patience Evans (Ella Maisy Purvis) works in the criminal records department of Yorkshire Police, cataloguing and filing the evidence produced during major cases.

A young autistic woman, she craves routine and order, relishing the solitude and structure her job provides but she yearns for more.

A brilliant, self-taught criminologist, Patience has an instinctive eye for crime scenes and a passion for problem-solving.

Detective Bea Metcalf (Laura Fraser) is the first person to spot and utilize her talent, which opens a door into a whole new world for Patience.

Patience attends a regular support group for autistic adults where they discuss the barriers in operating in a neuro-typical world and how best to navigate it.

All neuro-divergent characters within the series will be played by neuro-diverse actors, including the title role of Patience.

Patience has a special interest in solving puzzles and a secret interest and talent for criminology as she can read a case file or a crime scene and make connections that others can’t.

Detective Bea recognises Patience’s unique insight and takes her under her wing.

She wants her to work with her team on the frontline of policing.

As they start to become more closely involved professionally, however, it becomes clear that they may have a more profound and lasting impact on each other’s lives.

Why I’m guessing sister said she would tell /report then once off the boat so she got bumped off

I’m trying to remember properly about the how she killed them.
The substance Patience talked about makes people very open to suggestion. The killer introduced the substance and then suggested they do a money drop before committing suicide.
The last murder - the killer was admitted to the flat by the victim. Not sure if the safe was booby trapped or if she puffed it in his face.
Probably got that all wrong but it makes some sense to me.

Sorry @Blondeshavemorefun and @purpleme12 couldn't help 😅😅

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/01/2025 20:44

scopolamine Too little did nothing. A drop too much and death

takes 20m to work so she literally dosed them then they did it

patience did the deduction in little drawers

Right. I really need to pay attention more 😂

after rewatching it. I have it sussed

Then they go and see mr cooper

October 2016 he did a conference with the other men and was on file for prostitution as that’s illegal out there

he lured the sister onto the boat. Prob wanted sex. She said no and got killed

amazing cooper survived the fall but critical and will be prosecuted as sister under 18

he knew they had hacked him as had alerts in his status so he knew they were after him

How he got killed - he had a knock at his door and said sorry forgot they were coming

opened it to say his cleaner (we know she was his cleaner as cleaned in the hotel) in a hoodie who follows him into his kitchen

so yes @caramac04your reply makes sense below

guessing she blew it into his face as traces on the floor of his living room and put it on his safe which he opened as she knew he would run and grab money and passports

hence the dash to roof to see him fall coz he knew he had been alerted that he had been hacked

her sister the dead one applied for a visa in March 2016 but the killer sister Yamaha used it after she died oct 2016

they saw her altar she made to arrange revenge

we didn’t see her confession but the blood was on the boat and the matches

Her sister - she was 17 and serving drinks on the boat but wasn’t in the sex trade

she didn’t return on the boat so her sister knew she had been killed

blonde bows

@JewelleryCat it's a lovely hotel. Beautiful inside. We live in York and although we've never stayed, have been there a couple of times for drinks and dinner.

JimHalpertsWife · 14/01/2025 21:31

Just caught up on eps 1 & 2. Not really sure what to make of it. Episode one felt very clunky and like the script was way longer than it needed to be because nothing was suggested or subtle, everything was verbally explained in great detail.

Ep 2 it calmed down a lot.

Baffled by the info upthread that they also filmed some in Belgium, seems a crazy set up - why not use a nearby town or something for the internals.

JimHalpertsWife · 14/01/2025 21:33

Also, dh and I found the flashbacks weird, like they were set in the 50s or something, yet Patience was said to be 12 "in the 90s" - would a doctor genuinely think schizophrenia rather than Autism in the mid 90s?

And then if its set now, that would make Patience at about 30, which seems older. And I can't take my eyes off the actress who plays Beas wig.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/01/2025 21:37

That’s true @JimHalpertsWife

one wouid expect more support 20yrs ago ish is meant to be 2005 ish

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2025 15:00

I will have to concentrate and not mn

when I watched e2 again it made sense hence mg explanation

OP posts:
OrsolaRosso · 15/01/2025 15:35

I have watched the whole series. Apart from the first two, the remaining episodes are all standalone storylines.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2025 15:37

Oh that’s interesting. Thanks @OrsolaRosso

Puppupandaway · 15/01/2025 19:34

I've really enjoyed the first two episodes and will definitely stick with it. I thought the girl playing Patience was very good. They have used some stereotypical autistic traits, but I think as the series goes on they will seem less clunky.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2025 19:59

She is a actually Autistic

TitusMoan · 15/01/2025 21:51

This is an appallingly bad programme. No one can act. The script is terrible. It’s really slow. The autism aspects are laboured. Dire.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2025 21:56

She just wandered into the school playground with other kids there

Would Never happen at my dd school

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 15/01/2025 21:58

She was picking him up

JewelleryCat · 15/01/2025 22:17

Yeah I’m finding it a bit slow and clunky but will perserve with it. I saw a trailer for Astrid: Murder in Paris that said coming soon on More4 so I’m pleased about that

duc748 · 15/01/2025 22:29

Ah, so a new season of Astrid, then. I think I'll hang on for that.
