mes Norton (www.digitalspy.com/tv/a63102573/james-norton-bbc-period-drama-2025-release/)'s intense drama follows two couples – Pete Riley (Happy Valley (www.digitalspy.com/happy-valley/)'s Norton) and his partner Maddie Wilson (Niamh Algar (www.digitalspy.com/tv/a60668764/iris-niamh-algar-tom-hollander/)) along with Miles (

@HurdyGurdy19 that's quite a story.

dapsnotplimsolls · 06/01/2025 19:19

Honestly, I don't think I can be bothered. I'm just going to predict now that Lucy will turn out to be the instigator - swapped her baby because he might die and now doesn't want a 'defective' (in her eyes) child.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 06/01/2025 19:22

Wow @HurdyGurdy19 your mum was really on the ball thank goodness. I found the episode a bit dull and have deleted from my planned. I’ll watch instead while I’m cooking on ITVX

Interesting

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/01/2025 20:19

@dapsnotplimsolls yes we Said we think Lucy knew /knows David wasn't theirs

Be interesting if our theory is correct

But the son she now has is suffering from his own health problems so she wangles a dna test under the pretext of looking for genetic causes so her husband will find out it's not their child. She knows that her husband will want his own child back and has the resources to make that happen.

Which is why I put 'now' in my post.

I had a baby in PICU for several months. He was moved between hospitals and departments within the hospital several times. Organ failure, ventilation, ECMO, all of the drugs and the symptoms of illness can make a baby look very different. Also, not being able to hold, feed, change, bathe or dress your baby makes it harder to get to know them. I have no concerns about my son being swapped as he is a carbon copy of his Dad. However, I am not confident that I would have known if I was led to a different baby in the ICU.

tonyhawks23 · 06/01/2025 20:41

Just finished it and thought it was excellent, especially the locations.

GrandTheftWalrus · 06/01/2025 20:44

I couldn't recognise my 3yo at nursery as they have them all wearing the same uniforms and her hair was similar to about 3 others!

Oblomov25 · 06/01/2025 20:45

Want to watch this.

Ilovethewild · 06/01/2025 20:52

I found it dull and very predictable. Will watch tonight, but not sure I can put myself through 4 programmes!

who would palm their child off to strangers for childcare esp when just starting a job! That’s bonkers.

also leaving drugs within reach?

agree that the pushy visits would have any of us saying, leave!

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/01/2025 21:03

Theo picked it up

I’ve not read the book but what about this as a plot twist. The women have had enough of Pete and Miles fighting and they take Theo and David and just live somewhere with the children

LegoTherapy · 06/01/2025 21:34

It gets better. I'm on episode 4. Episode 3 got much more interesting.
Swiss cheese of a plot though.

JewelleryCat · 06/01/2025 21:51

I felt so sorry for David sat there
