mes Norton (www.digitalspy.com/tv/a63102573/james-norton-bbc-period-drama-2025-release/)'s intense drama follows two couples – Pete Riley (Happy Valley (www.digitalspy.com/happy-valley/)'s Norton) and his partner Maddie Wilson (Niamh Algar (www.digitalspy.com/tv/a60668764/iris-niamh-algar-tom-hollander/)) along with Miles (

Jessica Brown Findlay (www.digitalspy.com/tv/a26376159/downton-abbey-jessica-brown-findlay-show-success-unexpected/)
) – as they make one of the most heartbreaking discoveries any parent could make: that their 3-year-old sons, Theo and David, were switched at birth.

When pete and maddie find out that their son Theo was swapped at birth they try and ‘play nice’ with Theo’s birth parents

Not knowing what the other couple are planning

Oops, I meant to say also - if I'm right and Miles is bribing everybody, he could also have bribed the woman at preschool, as I agree kids don't normally get kicked out for hitting someone once.

JewelleryCat · 07/01/2025 09:59

Why would Miles bribe everyone though, what would be the point? Unless Miles and Pete knew each other as children and Pete did something to Miles and this is payback but that theory is farfetched lol

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2025 10:02

Obv I hope that both kids go with pete and maddy

Miles doesn't want David now he knows he isn't his and has delay

Or

Even better miles dies , and between the 3 of them they share the boys as think Lucy obv loves davjd

Who is such a cute boy bless him

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2025 10:03

Or Lucy divorces miles and takes all his money

Evil cackle

Last scene the other 3 pete Lucy and maddy all toast each other with posh bubbly which Lucy drinks

Looks a very cold outdoor pool

The main pool is! But the small part that Maddie and Theo were in, with all the other mums and tots, is geothermally heated nowadays.

crumblingschools · 07/01/2025 10:36

Where is the pool?

JSMill · 07/01/2025 10:42

It's sometimes hard to believe James Norton played Tommy Lee. He seems like a naturally nice guy in real life. It shows what an amazing actor he is. That scene at Tommy's mum's funeral when he goes mental at Catherine - my god.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2025 10:58

@KingfisherBlues the outside temp and cloudy looked freezing - October /November maybe

I noticed when they were talking to lawyer the trees outside her window were twigs so bare of leaves so must have been winter time

Tho the pool itself looked lovely

Nice to know who the drugs were really for.

Do you mean Pete's dad or am I missing something? On that note, I wonder if Phil Davis will have more of a role - he's a well known actor and has barely been in any scenes. Maybe this is all he can get these days!

crumblingschools · 07/01/2025 10:36

Where is the pool?

Edited

It's the Jubilee Pool in Penzance.

KingfisherBlues · 07/01/2025 11:12

@Blondeshavemorefun yes - I think it must have been winter given they found out/met in August/September. When Maddie was talking to Lucy in just her costume and a towel I did think she must have been absolutely freezing!

MabelMora · 07/01/2025 11:31

It's never once looked sunny 🥶.

Bunionbabe · 07/01/2025 12:45

I just don't understand why either couple thinks they have a right to both boys. In real life the courts would prob say that the birth parents are the rightful 'owners' of each boy. Not sure they could be compelled to give up the child each raised from birth.

James Norton is an incredible actor. His range is unbelievable.

He was absolutely spectacular in "McMafia" and "A Little Life" as well as in "Granchester" and of course in "Happy Valley" - all completely different characters. A really nice guy in real life (chatted to him outside the theatre last year).

crumblingschools · 07/01/2025 13:06

@Bunionbabe in an episode of Long Lost Family there was an episode of swapped babies, there was an example of families (in I think Italy) where children of a similar age to the two here were found out to be swapped, think one of the couples went on to have another child who was the spitting image of a child in nursery. Think there had been a suspicion that there might have been a mistake and this confirmed it. The court ordered that the children had to be returned to the birth parents and for a certain period (a number of months) they weren’t allowed to have contact with the other family. The couple who hadn’t had a second child were encouraged to have one as their birth child was used to having a sibling. The families ended up living near (even possibly next door to each other) so the 2 girls pretty much lived between the 2 houses, went to school together, went to university together and house shared for a while.

crumblingschools · 07/01/2025 13:07

@XelaM he always comes across as a softly spoken, gentle man in interviews, the complete opposite to his character in Happy Valley

Miles the knob thinks as he is rich he is a better parent

I don't think he wants David now he knows he isnt theirs

But obv Lucy loves him

So in miles head he thinks I can provide better for them both

I get MY son Theo

And Lucy can have the learning issues non child David

But agree no judge will take away both to give to the other imo

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2025 13:16

Sure I read somewhere if a baby swapping happened

under 2 they would go back to birth parents

3 they stay with the parents they know

But no man's land 2-3 which is the age I think these boys are

@SabreIsMyFave I agree that people are very critical of most tv now. I like to just enjoy things at face value. I ignore holes because it's not real life and it's entertainment.

This is what I was trying to convey. Smile

That sounds fair and reasonable.

@XelaM did you see him in War and Peace? That was an amazing series.
