And

Sunday 12 and Monday 13

mes Norton (www.digitalspy.com/tv/a63102573/james-norton-bbc-period-drama-2025-release/)'s intense drama follows two couples – Pete Riley (Happy Valley (www.digitalspy.com/happy-valley/)'s Norton) and his partner Maddie Wilson (Niamh Algar (www.digitalspy.com/tv/a60668764/iris-niamh-algar-tom-hollander/)) along with Miles (

When pete and maddie find out that their son Theo was swapped at birth they try and ‘play nice’ with Theo’s birth parents

Not knowing what the other couple are planning

In the flashback, didn't Lucy tell Maddie that her baby might not survive? Maybe she did the swap.

I wondered that too

purpleme12 · 05/01/2025 23:52

Maddie has the measure of Miles

Printedword · 06/01/2025 00:00

Just seen that The Guardian only gave one star

GrandTheftWalrus · 06/01/2025 00:20

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/01/2025 21:30

Dd had one. She's now nearly 8

Think she has two actually. Ankle and wrist

Both of mine had 2 tags, oldest was 8 in November and youngest is 4 in may.

The guardians review of the show was accurate. After finishing the show, I had to agree with it. Absolute garbage

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/01/2025 09:12

I just rewatched and noticed a few things

Mikes is def controlling which we know

When he says his wife Lucy doesn't drink she looks sad as if she wants to

He seems to play happy families and nice in company but ignores Lucy once they have gone

Didn't reliese miles has actually met their friends at the beach yet still pretended it was his sister few weeks later

Persist persist persist what he says when surfing

Lucy says David isn't used to hugs but went straight to maddie

He does look like her

Looking forward to e2 tonight

Clawdy · 06/01/2025 09:21

That was rather a strange line about David not being used to hugs.

DataColour · 06/01/2025 09:28

The book goes more into David's health condition. It is a while since I read it, but I'm pretty sure David is meant to be immunocompromised, hence not used to be being around other people or other kids much.
I love James Norton in most things, but this was not so good, disappointing. It's a shame as it's his production company and he was an executive producer.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/01/2025 10:03

As most tv people know I like most things

But I did enjoy this

So looking forward to e2 tonight

Makes you wonder how a mix up like this happened

I was switched in the hospital, but fortunately the mix up was discovered.

This was back in the days when babies were taken to the nursery and brought to the mothers for feeds.

They handed a baby to my mum, who said "this isn't my baby". The nurses assured her it was but mum was adamant "my baby's prettier than this".

She was only believed because I had been a forceps delivery and had marks from the instrument on the sides of my head, which the other baby didn't have.

I can't understand how it could happen now, with wrist bands being attached to the baby almost before the cord is cut.

HurdyGurdy19 · 06/01/2025 10:26

In the flashback to NICU, I don't think they showed Lucy's full face. So I'm wondering if the Lucy that gave birth, isn't the current Lucy?

I don't know quite where I'm going with this 😅 but it struck me that we didn't see all of Lucy's face

JewelleryCat · 06/01/2025 11:12

I thought we saw Lucy’s full face in NICU but I could be misremembering

MaryGreenhill · 06/01/2025 11:16

I love James Norton and was looking forward to seeing this but it just isn't working for us .

deeahgwitch · 06/01/2025 11:28

It's not being shown on Virgin TV in Ireland yet Sad.
So I shall save this thread and read it once I've seen the series.

Rogerstreasures · 06/01/2025 11:35

A relative of mine lives in Newquay and swims most mornings with a group of women. Earlier last year they were all sat together after their swim enjoying a flask of tea and James Norton wandered over to them. He sat and chatted and had a cup of tea with them.

Wow @HurdyGurdy19 Thank god your mum knew you

Then again as I said above I would know dd and if have. A diff baby would know

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 06/01/2025 11:46

@HurdyGurdy19 tho maddie remembers her

@deeahgwitch Hope Ireland gets it soon

@Rogerstreasures Claim to fame !

I did wonder if Lucy swapped her baby Theo as was told May not survive and swapped to David and then felt guilt as he has sone issues

So she always know he wasn't theirs but assumed her real baby did die /very poorly but liked the power of miles not knowing

purpleme12 · 06/01/2025 12:29

We did see Lucy's full face in NICU

ChessieFL · 06/01/2025 12:45

I’ve just watched the first episode and thought it was very slow. I’m not sure I’m going to bother with the rest. I have read the book and did enjoy it (although can’t now recall how it ended).

Printedword · 06/01/2025 16:52

I've only watched the first segment but I noted that James Norton's character and his wife both have blue eyes. If I remember rightly two brown eyed people can have a blue eyed child but two blue eyed can't have a brown eyed child.

WinterColdBrrrr · 06/01/2025 17:32

It makes you think how many children in the past have been mixed up.
When people do ancestory tests they may believe that their great grandad was adopted into a family when really he could have been swapped at birth.
