Blackpool is a tacky place with cheeky fun, pretty much like the music chosen. You can't blame the 80's for it. I like to keep up with current music mainly, but 80's for me means ' the Cure' , New Order etc- you couldn't get further removed frome that.

sunnylizard · 16/11/2024 20:43

What a naff pile up that was! Nearly everyone got stitched up by the inappropriate music (is it me or is it increasingly not even matching the dances?!) and competing backing dancers. Voted JB because he actually danced (and is a sweetie), Montel and Chris.

PSBs were genius! Did I see Chris crack a very small smile?

theDudesmummy · 16/11/2024 20:43

Ballroom dancing to the Cure might be rather challenging...

I want it to be Wynne versus Pete/Jamie, but I know it will be Montell.

I feel the same!!

I thought the music was fine in itself..It was the slowed down singing and not matched to dances.. Didnt sound like the Communards.

You could do a lovely routine to Just Like Heaven, a nice foxtrot, perhaps, to Close To Me, and you could probably do a good (Halloween) quickstep to The Lovecats.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 16/11/2024 20:46

Love the pet shop boys gutted I didn't get to see their tour this year.

TheShellBeach · 16/11/2024 19:24

Anyone else sick of seeing Sarah's gusset?

🤣🤣

Yes !!

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 16/11/2024 19:26

Sarah didn't really dance, and I'm finding her irritating with her fake surprise at her scores.

Me too. She knows she's good and then the fake shock when she gets high scores v irritating.

I actually would love someone to do a bizarre Halloween routine to Lullaby.

Hate modern drag, there's a very nasty undertone

And if Strictly is going to be taken over by drag queens I will stop watching. It makes me really uncomfortable

Yes. Same here.

Just because they had a couple of drag queens reading the T&C in Blackpool week doesn't mean it's being taken over.

Personally I found Pete's performance far more repellent than a few seconds ' appearance by the drag queens.

Wolfcub · 16/11/2024 19:34

Wynne still very carefully keeping his hands to himself

While having her crotch in his face. I assume they wear some sort of leotard underneath.

Well he didn't choreograph that.

Pete should be in the dance off and he should go. However his fans would obviously rather vote for him to stay at the expense of more competent dancers.

Well....yeah. Of course his fans will vote for him.

RememberRememberTheMonthofNovember · 16/11/2024 20:55

Drag queens may be as much a part of Blackpool as chips and candy floss now. I’m happy with it: it’s not out of place like, for example, story time at a library.

They didn’t have Blackpool accents, though.

RainbowColouredRainbows · 16/11/2024 20:18

I don't dislike it BECAUSE it's from my parents generation. I dislike it because it's shit. It just so happens to be from my parents generation. Interestingly, we never grew up listening to 80s music because my parents also hated it.
The main singer today also couldn't sing. I don't get the hype at all. The voice gave me very budget wedding vibes.

Fair enough.
It just seems odd to damn a whole decade of music - there was a lot of different styles in the 80s just as at any other time. It also seems a shame if your parents hated all the music from their own generation but each to their own.

The voice gave me very budget wedding vibes.
I don't think I've been to any budget weddings, so couldn't really comment on that.

Pumpkincozynights · 16/11/2024 21:03

Haven’t read the thread.
Voted Chris, Sarah & Tasha.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not Montell & Wynne in the final.

It should be Pete leaving he was the worst by far.

Agree. I liked Lily Savage a lot but hate the modern filth and misogyny which passes for drag humour.
BBC crams them in everywhere. Got to have a cock in a frock on a show or it’s not cool enough.

Has this been the worst Blackpool week ever?

Just catching up and yes, definitely the worst. Standard of music, costumes and props are so poor this year.

CinnamonSpiceAndAllThingsNice · 16/11/2024 21:19

I gave 3 votes to Chris. Think he has improved so so much since week 1 - don't know how he does it.

I like Sarah and Vito too, but must admit I just watched Vito tonight 🥵

LyndaSnellsSniff · 16/11/2024 21:21

I didn't understand what Jamie meant about the "paso reference for Anton" in their jive?

RedToothBrush · 16/11/2024 21:24

Did they deliberately decide to tell the celebrities this week,

"And nudge your left ball slightly to the right, brace 1 - 2 and then nudge your right ball to the right."
