Let the Joel storyline continue to bore us 😞

I needed a clock in the corner of the screen so I could see where the time had gone - the bistro magically turned from the ceremony layout to dining room, as mentioned they all travelled to the police station quickly and also where is this 'downstairs' where they stuck all of the children? I was wondering who the dark haired child was who appeared on the sofa then I realised it was Harry.

I would have preferred a bigger exit for Gail. Half a century she was there! But maybe Helen Worth wanted a low key end.

Shellingbynight · 25/12/2024 21:00

Not a bad final episode for Gail - at last she acted like Gail, rather than as if she'd been sedated. I'm sure Helen could have done more if they'd bothered to give her something to do in the past two months.

Some lovely lines from David as always, and it seemed like Helen hadn't seen some of those videos from Sally et al, the way she was reacting. It was very disappointing though that Gail never had a scene with Sally in person to reminisce and say goodbye.

I loved the Hillman scenes. Camp, daft, but brilliant. Jack said on his podcast he thought Brian Capron was Gail's favourite husband and it was lovely to see them back together again.

Surely David now realises it was Kit who slept with Shona.

Daisy up the duff, no surprises there. The fact Daniel proposed to Bethany means it's Daniel's so that wedding is never going to happen.

Yes, I was just thinking that as well about the ending. It didn’t seem very Gail but I did like the wedding and the video that she was watching on her own was lovely

It wasn't DeeDee who gave her that advice about pleading guilty was it, did I miss a scene? It was her own solicitor. She might get away with manslaughter, but that would still be a few years in jail.

There was no proof he injured Lauren, and the charge re Frankie never got to court so I'm not sure they could even mention it? The viewers know he was evil, but a jury wouldn't.

Has Max actually been charged with perverting the cause of justice? Angela Harris got 8 years for that yet Max is parading around outside fostering babies.

No but when Max told Dee Dee that Lauren was going to plead not guilty that’s what she said to him

Eastie77Returns · 25/12/2024 21:38

Could be wrong but I got the impression that Gail/Helen hadn’t seen those videos with Sally, Rita, Ken etc before so we were seeing her watching them for the first time and the tears were real. Very low key ending but I think in keeping with the actress who I understand is extremely private and likes minimal fuss.

MrsGrimshaw · 25/12/2024 21:56

I loved David's speech. He seemed genuinely emotional but if it was purely acting he did a grand job 🙂

TellingBone · 25/12/2024 22:43

I only watch two soaps but that Richard Hillman shocker was the highlight of the soap year for me. Did those of you who look at spoilers know about it or was it a surprise for everyone?

Also appreciated the mentions of Ena Sharples, Elsie Tanner and Mavis.

Ta-ra luv to Gayle. I've never been a big fan of the character but she's earned her place in the annals. Still not clear about the David/Jesse money that appears to have funded the villa renovation and David's purchase of the house?

I sometimes see spoilers but I knew nothing about Hillman turning up. It worked so well as a surprise!

I think Jesse just told David he’d washed the cash to use himself, and he gave D a cheque?

JewelleryCat · 25/12/2024 23:50

I read that the actor who played Hillman was rumoured to come back and be part of Gail’s final storyline but how, I didn’t know but I still think it should have been Martin who she went off to France with

Does everyone who leaves a soap go off abroad as their final storyline?

Deadringer · 25/12/2024 23:50

I actually really enjoyed those episodes, I was thrilled when Richard turned up, I loved him! I was hoping all of her exs might appear, but I think overall Gail got a nice send off. And I was delighted that Nick and Toyah realised what Leanne was up to, I think I am probably quite easily pleased.

eggandonion · 26/12/2024 00:26

I just wanted Martin to appear and sweep Gail off her feet. Or even Brian.
Jesse should go back to Cold Feet.

CellophaneFlower · 26/12/2024 07:43

I loved Gail's send off, especially as she looked so beautiful and went off in style. She finally got her happy ending ❤️. Also loved that she told them all they were her favourite 😂

Freysimo · 26/12/2024 07:52

Jesse didn't have any friends/relatives at the wedding. Did he say why?

Yes it was lovely.
Not sure where all the ill/ frail comments are coming from , she looked cracking!
Oh god Daisy 🙄
Why are/Daniel and Bethany getting married?
They fall out every 5 minutes

Good point and it was rather odd but until you mentioned it I hadn't thought about it. 🫤

EachandEveryone · 26/12/2024 08:19

What’s the age gap there I wonder?

Shellingbynight · 26/12/2024 08:28

Helen is 73, John Thomson is 55.

But Gail is only 66.
To be fair they didn't look much adrift.

AmusedMaker · 26/12/2024 09:38

I really enjoyed last nights episode, lovely send off for Gail.

helgel · 26/12/2024 09:42

I've just caught up with the Christmas day episode. I really enjoyed it, DH is still asleep, so that might have helped.

I bloody loved the punch up, the best bit for sure.

Policemen every where, but no Swain. Happy days.

Intheoldendays · 26/12/2024 09:56

Wait what? Did I miss a pregnancy with daisy bit?

helgel · 26/12/2024 10:03

@Intheoldendays Daisy sitting on the stairs with a positive test in her hand. Near the end.

eggandonion · 26/12/2024 10:05

Gail seemed to do a lot of scenes sitting down recently. I hope people go to visit her.
I'm fed up with Nick and the love triangle.

AmusedMaker · 26/12/2024 10:07

Oh the fight was brilliant, made me laugh 😆

Intheoldendays · 26/12/2024 10:07

Thanks! Must have missed that
