Joel won't be on Frankie's birth certificate so what rights do his parents have?
Zero. Even Joel wouldn't have had any rights. Not married to Lauren. Not on the birth certificate. ZERO rights.
I also loathe Joel's parents. They are hideous.
I agree with other posters that the storyline about DeeDee having the baby so 'baby Frankie' (Lauren's baby) will have a donor is stupid as f*ck!

A delicate subject but if a baby is given up for adoption does the mother have any rights re knowing where baby has gone?
When me and DH were thinking of adopting a child around 2005-2006 (we had 2 children, and wanted a 3rd when they were around 10 or 11,) we were told that the 'birth' mother would be allowed access to the child, and could write letters to them, and keep in contact as much as she wanted. (And the father too, though it was rare that a father was involved when a baby/child went up for adoption.)
It never used to be like this pre 1990s as far as I know, and all the people I know who were adopted pre 1990s never knew their 'birth' parents. A few met them later on - like when they were in their 20s, but they weren't even allowed to look until they were 18. And I don't think the birth parents were allowed to look for them at all back then. I don't know how it is now regarding birth parents access to their children when they have been adopted by another family. (Sorry.) I think they can search for them when they are 18 or older now though. (They never used to be allowed to.)
I have to say, there had been many obstacles placed in our way up to that point and many things to overcome (in order to adopt) but that one thing put us off hugely, and we withdrew our application. No way were we going to adopt a child, knowing the mother (and father if he's around) can keep on making contact with them. (Some people might be OK with this, but we definitely weren't.)
