Is it worth doing a thread on Classic Doctors? We can't really do a watch along given the time though.

This is a very good/fair review of Doctors last episode

Apparently the music in the final Icon scene was the version of "It's Not Unusual" performed by Bear and Luca at the charity do. Several of the potd were named after Production team,

I love this attention to detail.

It's such a shame that over the last years since Covid, it got really poor at times- because this past few weeks has shown how good it could be.

It's like someone at the BBC accounts department caught one of the really bad episodes and thought 'what is this dross- that can go' and that was it.
I still don't get how it cost that much over the years. (But I know nothing about tv production).

I mean- Doctors perfected the art of recycling- actors Grin, sets and buildings for different locations, plots (!), wardrobe, some of the actors directed/wrote episodes. They didn't exactly spend a fortune on extras (i.e patients) either!

Maybe that was what Rosie's sustainability thing was a dig about- they were actually quite a self sustaining programme for a while!Grin

Ladyswhatlunch · 15/11/2024 13:53

Agree @Raahh it annoys me so much especially with the endless new daytime game shows with their fancy sets and presenters that cost a fortune.

Raahh · 15/11/2024 14:03

And Mrs Brown's Boys.

Who watches that rubbish ?? Grin

FuzzyPuffling · 15/11/2024 14:13

I have missed you all. I shall miss docTors too. X

SUBisYodrethwhenLarping · 15/11/2024 15:19

Just seen it will be replaced by SCAM DETECTIVES or some such consumer show with rav wilding

SUBisYodrethwhenLarping · 15/11/2024 15:20

Btw does anyone know why the T is capital?

Probably because they outsourced the marketing to the local primary school.

I don’t wish to be the bearer of bad news but apparently the BBC own the rights to Doctors. This makes it different to Neighbours.

So no hope then 😢

Claymydia · 15/11/2024 17:34

Not unless the BBC can be convinced to give up the rights.

Yes, I posted that yesterday, they recorded it for the 20th anniversary. Jimmi featured heavily in the storylines at that time too. (Jimmi in the Clink).

I'm still annoyed that they weren't at least allowed to make it to the 25th anniversary in March.

lazarusb · 15/11/2024 17:54

I've just caught up with this week's episodes! Loved them, a fitting end I think. I'm only crying because I had some really good unconnected news this afternoon 😃

Newdoggo · 15/11/2024 18:21

Ah, sorry thought it was the old one - this one has Luca singing too

Pretty much everyone has been in DoctorsGrin
One of my favourite things ,was spotting older actors who used to be in 70s/80s sitcoms. Must have made a change from panto or adverts.

And I loved that they didn't care that actors appeared in it 5/6/7 times-and we viewers knew they had been in it before as someone else. It was just a running joke.

I know someone who was in it 7 times as different characters! Shame he never got taken on full time!

Sean Prendergast, who was in it yesterday, had been in it 7 times too. And Ellie Beavan had been in it before too, quite early on.
