What are you talking about? I don’t understand what I have missed.

The last thread. Because of the last episode being so close when the thread was started.

Yes saw it this morning!

I’m amazed with the episodes this week, with how it’s the same week 20 years ago

ExquisiteIyDecorated · 14/11/2024 15:08

Got to go now, hope to catch up with you all again

JoanChitty · 14/11/2024 15:10

Yes@MadisonAvenue and good strong storylines. I’m loving Ronnie and George , Helen and all the gang

Grin Dh always knew not to talk to me when it was on- and he was warned not to sit with me today (he works from home, and he did threaten to watch!).Shock Grin

I was watching the Amazon delivery site thinking- don't you dare deliver now.

My son has always had a knack of having things delivered which arrive during Doctors.

Dogs in Hats!

Dogs in Hats!

An oldie, but a goodie.

Claymydia · 14/11/2024 15:15

The original Rick roll. MN really spoiled that by embedding the YouTube video in the post.

I know it was a favourite of @AnneEyhtMeyer’s.

Raahh · 14/11/2024 15:16

@Claymydia I know- it's not as much fun, now you can see it is there! Grin

Elbow, One Day Like This

Not sung by Guy Garvey though. Was it Jimmi singing along with some of the other cast at the end credits?

Anyway, that was a great ending. Go Zara. It's a shame it took Graham to make them all want to be partners, and I guess with all of them in it won't cost quite as much.

The version at the end certainly sounded different to the one at the beginning

I did wonder if it was the cast singing- and hoped the end shot would be of them all singing in the Icon or something. It did sound like it could have been.

I outed myself on Facebook as being a Doctors fan and that I was sad and many of my friends have all come out of the Doctors Love Closet. 😂

Most of us work shifts.

Ebabllisstggoffor · 14/11/2024 15:24

They ruined a brilliant Elbow song, without the wonderful voice of Guy Garvey.

Great ending though.

I agree, it’s one of those songs which should be untouchable. If buildings can be listed then songs should be too.

When our oldest was taking his A levels he had the girlfriend from hell who didn’t want him to go to university. She dropped out of 6th form two weeks before A levels and we were so worried she’d mess things up for him.
Anyway, on results day he received an email from the university, before he’d even had his results, congratulating and welcoming him.
I then went back into the bedroom and One Day Like This came on the radio and I shut the door and sobbed with relief, so it always gets me emotional now.

A day like this- cast

This is a clip I found of the cast recording the song. Adrian singing lead vocals. it's not recent though.

BBC One - Doctors, Series 21, A Day in the Life..., One Day Like This

Raahh · 14/11/2024 15:32

Apparently, it was recorded when they celebrated their 20th anniversary

longtompot · 14/11/2024 15:33

I just looked it up and it was indeed Dr Clay singing! I love the original but I think it was fitting, given his previous singing bits, to have him sing the final episode in and then out

Ohnonina · 14/11/2024 15:33

Well that was far more emotional than I expected 😢 Feel genuinely bereft now it's actually over, what a massive own goal by the BBC to end it when it's so well loved ☹️

longtompot · 14/11/2024 15:38

I was just listening to Craig Charles and someone contacted his show on 6music to ask for a song to cheer them up as had just finished watching the final episode, and he said he was in it a few years ago as a detective!

Absolutely agree with this, it’s a huge mistake. The BBC seem to waste so much money in other areas and on other shows and end one which operates on a small budget, is a huge starting point for many in the industry and is so well loved.

Pretty much everyone has been in DoctorsGrin
One of my favourite things ,was spotting older actors who used to be in 70s/80s sitcoms. Must have made a change from panto or adverts.

And I loved that they didn't care that actors appeared in it 5/6/7 times-and we viewers knew they had been in it before as someone else. It was just a running joke.

The number of times you sit and wonder what you’ve seen the actor in before (as well as Doctors 😂)
