I've made this a bit early because my dinner is going to be ready just before the end of Strictly and I don't want us to run out of space! Please finish up the other thread first. Glitterball

I thought he would have been safe against Toyah 😢🪩

OccasionalHope · 29/09/2024 20:49

Paul should have gone but he’s going to stay in as long as Tony Adams last year isn’t he?

Poor Tom Was unlucky he did this week and last in the order he did.If it had been the other way round he would have seemed to make a big improvement and perhaps picked up votes. But given that dance-off I think Toyah just had more life and entertainment value.

I am warming to Pete and Chris.

Tess looks so thin.

BehindTheSequinsandStilettos · 29/09/2024 20:54

See, I might have thought rigged, had I not watched Tom's first chacha attempt several times again this afternoon, as I'd read the spoiler. His DO was poorer although not as bad as made out. He goes off in the first verse and slightly towards the end.
I think vote could have gone either way. Motsi changing her vote and giving timing as the reason swung it. I'd have accepted either going but still think it should have been Paul personally.

downthebackofthesettee · 29/09/2024 20:58

What a pity Toyah can't shove off to Barbados. She'll just have to stay and work her arse off to come back and do it all again. Don't unpack just yet thoughToyah because I'm sure you'll only be delayed by a week or so.
Awful, ungrateful woman

ilovesooty · 29/09/2024 20:58

I can't see Paul improving like Tony Adams did. Karen isn't as good a choreographer as Katya for a start.

2Rebecca · 29/09/2024 21:11

I think Toyah was less wooden this week and more musical but the dance content was pants. There should be a minimum time for non dance nonsense, including gymnastics, jumping on tables, dangling from wires etc

2Rebecca · 29/09/2024 21:12

I mean maximum time, like 10 seconds

Yep, she was only her feet for 50 seconds and some of that was standing still to be jumped over. At least Tom was on his feet for the full time and tried a wider ranger of steps/techniques.

Mumtofourandnomore · 29/09/2024 21:27

Urgh, it feels really uncomfortable when a nice person steps out of their comfort zone, puts in a decent effort and gets voted off first. I really thought he would’ve improved too.

My daughter is a swimmer and loved Tom, it’s so much better to watch the journeys of the non-entertainers too 😢

Minimammoth · 29/09/2024 21:32

I wish they’d drop the ‘ last dance’, it’s always cringe worthy and pointless .

EvilRingahBitch · 29/09/2024 21:54

I feel so sorry for Tom and Nadiya but honestly I'd have saved Toyah too. He was really not good, and she gave it absolutely everything with the choreography she was given.

Happy for Luba, Karen and Dr P (can take or leave all three of the men in those partnerships).

RubyDarke · 29/09/2024 22:00

If they do go full Bollywood for Punam - and I would love it - then I pray they break tradition and get proper playback singers for the night or else it will be a massacre.

LetsHopeSo · 29/09/2024 22:00

Well I wasn't expecting that but glad Toyah and Neil are still in. Sad Tom had to go. Neil said on Instagram she was joking about going to Barbados! (It's on his page anyway).
She looks like she's loving every minute there, I know she's had a face lift, she looks fab and she has an amazing figure, I keep forgetting she's 66. I wish I had a 10th of her energy!

I have to say I agree with this.

LetsHopeSo · 29/09/2024 22:03

Would love to see some Ceilidh dancing, Punam and Gorka could do the Gay Gordons or the Canadian barn dance!

Shellingbynight · 29/09/2024 22:12

I found it hard watching Tom first time round, it just looked so awkward. He would have been in my bottom two for that reason. Great swimmer, poor dancer. Hard to choose between them but Toyah is a performer and Tom isn't.

I am not Toyah's biggest fan but she's the same age as me and I find it amazing she has such energy.

AlexaSetATimer · 29/09/2024 22:30

quiteathome · 29/09/2024 20:19

Do you think the couples choice with the Doctor will be Cayleidgh inspired? She has talked about doing Scottish dancing.

Not overly bothered about the result

Ceilidh

AlexaSetATimer · 29/09/2024 22:32

Quarantesix · 29/09/2024 20:33

Poor Tom. He looked so disappointed. I think he had much more potential than Toyah- she's already had a lifetime of performance in the music industry and still couldn't really pull it off.
Tom did so well and is exactly the type of person I enjoy watching on Strictly- someone who does NOT come from a dance or performance background and who learns to dance and you see them improve and progress.

I agree

MouseMinge · 29/09/2024 22:38

Re Tess's arms. She is very slender but I really think the exaggerated puff of the sleeves made her arms look skinnier. I say this as someone who finds myself really scrutinising this sort of this year. I've been seriously ill and within a couple of months lost 17 kilos, maybe a bit more (I've managed to put about 5 kilos back on!) and I use myself as some sort of benchmark. Anyone looking as thin or more thin than me, with sticking out bones and possibly elephant wrinkles, they're some sort of really not well. Tess is thinner than most of us but it's a TV/being on screen thing and she's not alone in that. The dress, beautiful as it was did her arms no favours although she looked stunning overall.

BogRollBOGOF · 29/09/2024 23:12

Being first on the line up then becoming a shock mid-table DO probably didn't do Tom any favours. His DO was poorer, but based on the Saturday performances he shouldn't have been in it in the first place.
Bloody football fan popularity vote. 🙄

Toyah's performance was an improvement on the original. The flat boots didn't help. I'd be interested to see her do something calm and see if not playing her punk rock chick side can get better results and rein her in.

For a week 2, the standard was generally quite pleasing. The sheer scale of the number of dances in the early weeks is overwhelming though. I watched on a delay on catch-up and was too late to vote.

Wynne and Chris were highlights in exceeding expectations. I'm enjoying Montell and am impressed with her range of motion and musical connection which isn't always guarenteed with athletes, although being agile enough to be a gladiator is a good sign.

Paul's not even great at pulling off the comedy side of dad dancing.

I'd love to see some northern soul and ceroc, so many other dance styles they could do

WeightLossGoal2024 · 30/09/2024 00:24

Can someone please tell me what time the show and results show are actually filmed on the Sat? I'm so confused by them pretending the results is filmed the best day! How long is voting actually open?

The results show is filmed straight after the main show on Saturday.
Voting is open for an hour.

ApolloandDaphne · 30/09/2024 06:13

I'm sad Tom has gone so soon and I'm mad that Toyah is still there. She really annoys me.

billysboy · 30/09/2024 06:13

I would love to see the public voting figures but I guess that will never happen in case it damages a few fragile egos
