Apologies if there is already a thread on this. I've just seen an advert saying this is back on ITV at 9pm tonight. I really enjoyed series 1. I guess this will be difficult as the parents will know that their kids are watching them? I'm interested to see how they change it up.

I do love the 80’s tunes they keep playing though 😂

I think that’s the best bit.

they do need to have to a bit more fun. They are only 50 not 500, I’m glad they aren’t alll screaming at each other.

i find the kids watching a bit patronizing.

Yeah it feels a bit slow going

it needs to pick up the pace. Not Love Island pace but a bit faster than this pace

Although maybe that’s just the pace of us 40+ year olds these days 🤣🤣🤣

I tried again and yep, it's just as depressing as it was last week. I've now started watching MAFS in desperation, but at least that's entertaining!

browneyes77 · 24/09/2024 01:19

I like Jenny & Danny. I think they could work.

Vicky & David. Location wise they’re not too bad with him being Bristol and her being South Wales. Easily doable

Hoping Jenny doesn’t let her insecurities get to her too much and she gives things a chance.

Kinda surprised the Hollyoaks Dad Chris hasn’t found a connection.

Hollyoaks?

Hollyoaks?

Well he was meant to be the fittie of the group. He just looks like someone who could be on Hollyoaks 😂

It’s obvious yet hadn’t occurred to me, go in with a strategy: small business, great PR, no revealing clothes if not on brand etc.

If love occurs, great, but privately you know extremely unlikely & you’re not exactly short of offers…So…

Fast forward a few months & if smart you can really capitalise on your telly ‘5 mins’ of fame…esp if a ‘footfall business’.

I’ve seem a private baker with a van that says ‘as seen on Bake Off’ ‘Runner up’. It all helps no doubt.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 24/09/2024 10:33

Jenny's constant laughing is a bit much ! Maybe nerves. Maria and Clare are lovely but don't seem to be getting a look in.

Anjelika · 24/09/2024 13:02

I think it's really slow this year. Last night's focus seemed to be on the 2 already established "couples" apart from the zero chemistry date between Paul and the posh woman whose name I've forgotten. She doesn't seem to give much away and I can't see her having anything in common with any of the men in there other than possibly Chris?

Jenny's constant laughing is starting to grate. I'd like things to be shaken up a bit - maybe a kind of speed dating exercise between the remaining people (and optionally Vicky and D as they seem on the ropes already). I mean what do they do in that house all day?? Surely they could arrange for all the still single ones to spend up to an hour with each of the other single ones to see if there's any spark? Jane is incredibly backwards at coming forwards so this would be a good opportunity for her to speak to each of the other men in turn and see how that goes. Poor Maria - I'm not sure what her role is in all this tbh and think Andy choosing to go an a date with the posh woman after he'd just told her he wanted to spend time with her must have hurt a little.

Choux · 24/09/2024 13:29

They put them in there for two weeks but are only looking for 10 hours of TV and a third of that is footage of the kids. We don't know if there are other dates which have happened which don't lead to a spark so there's no point showing us. Clare and Danny's date was only relevant as it made Jenny reluctant to pursue Danny due to girl code and shows the difference in Danny when he feels a spark v when he doesn't.

Andy could well have had a date with Maria and they decided to just be friends.
Paul could have had a date with Clare but the didn't hit it off.
Christian could have had a date with Steph but she friend zoned him.

We have no idea about all the conversations and dates which don't go anywhere.

bizzey · 24/09/2024 14:31

Poor Chris doesn't seem to have had a look in !

I knew there was another male I couldn't remember...and found him .
Or Christian.....apart from the cooking dinner with flakey Vicky .

Ohh and poor lovely Andy !

Very women centered /focus this year ?

browneyes77 · 24/09/2024 14:40

I can’t really see how two weeks is long enough for any of them to really establish a reasonable connection.

Just seems a very short amount of time to get to know people.

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 24/09/2024 14:45

I binged-watched the last five episodes on ITVX and it was a bit slow. And disappointing.
Last year, you could see Roger and Janey were delighted with each other, and were right to be.
I just have a feeling like all of these shows that after a series some people are genuine, and some just want to get on the telly. Fair enough.
I am not a big JD Williams customer but now want to stick my fingers in my ears every time I see or hear the name.
I absolutely loved Maria - at least she had a real sense of humour and was herself.
Don’t like the kids being involved apart from giving feedback in the bunker.
I do think it’s a very nice, safe, middle class format. Can you imagine a Les and Cilla Battersby-Brown combo?
Also - Jenny. Not usually a fan of mini skirts and ankle boots but she absolutely rocked both. Stick her in front of a camera and she’d give a supermodel a run for their money.
Would I watch another series? Yep, as there aren’t many aimed at my age group.
Do think it’s a shame you can’t apply if you don’t have kids but obviously the title has a theme.
Davina - does the job brilliantly to be fair.

bizzey · 24/09/2024 15:24

I like Maria as well...but they are only using her for the outrageous sexual comments.

Choux · 24/09/2024 21:23

Total set up putting Vicky with Christian for the second part of this session.

Needmymum · 24/09/2024 22:05

Only just catching up on yesterday's episode.

Vicky says "do you know what I mean" every few words, it's so grating!

Fatfreefatball · 24/09/2024 22:16

Vicky has made a mistake choosing David. He's as dull as ditchwater and not even good looking. As her daughter said he's also blowing hot and cold. She was better matched with Christian.

Littleguggi · 24/09/2024 22:17

This is just getting more and more cringe, it just feels so forced. No genuine connections whatsoever. They themselves come across so fake particularly Steph, Vicky, Danny. I am finding the children annoying too. Why am I still watching someone tell me please!!

Edited

I agree, like I said earlier they don't match at all emotionally, physically or intellectually

I agree. Vicki and David talk like they're reciting lines (badly). Jenny looks like she's backing off before they've got started. There are literally no genuine sparks anywhere.

FaiIureToLunch · 24/09/2024 22:40

i have found it really dull

MAFS for me!

SoMentallyDrained · 25/09/2024 00:27

Definitely not enjoying it as much as last year

Fed up of the word gravitating. Makes it feel very Love Island-ey.

Feel that the kids are a bit critical of their parents this year. They also don't have a bond like last year. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it was just lovely to watch at the time.

I don't even know any of the parent names as I'm not sucked in. There's nobody like Roger 🥺

Overall though I just like being able to relate to the parents and their feelings. Makes me feel less alone I suppose.

beachcomber70 · 25/09/2024 14:39

I've found this slow moving and boring this year. I fail to see what the offspring add to the show to take up so much screen time.
I'm finding it fake at the moment as clearly no one genuinely fancies anyone apart from Danny and his obsession with Jenny's lips. Jenny just seems embarrassed and all nervous giggles and panicking about the situation now. He's just embarrassing and a letch.
All dates feel forced and awkward.
I've no idea why Vicky and David are trying desperately to be a couple as clearly not suited and he slops about unmotivated and looking blank, unable to communicate.
Why are most of the others not getting much attention? They must be bored sick.
I like Chris and Clare but they can't seem to get it together.
Paul and Steph both puzzle me, just seem to be there for the cameras and the exposure, not really engaged in the experiment.
I'd call this a flop all round.

bizzey · 25/09/2024 14:43

Definitely doesn't have the excitement of last year .
And the shock twists of last year ...well ...because we know it is all out in the open !
