Apologies if there is already a thread on this. I've just seen an advert saying this is back on ITV at 9pm tonight. I really enjoyed series 1. I guess this will be difficult as the parents will know that their kids are watching them? I'm interested to see how they change it up.

Vicky and David are just so dull! There's zero fun there.

joolsella · 23/09/2024 07:33

The whole thing is a little dull

They're too sensible, guarded and frankly dull for reality telly

I don't actually care what happens

Yeah. Last year was much better as they at least tried hard to flirt and make connections. I don't see that this year. There could have been some great connections but they're not putting themselves out there. Most of them friend zoned from the off.

It's probably not that easy to meet someone who live opposite end of the country if tney have responsibilities ...job, mortgage, younger kids. Maybe Vicky and David can mske itt work between Brizzle and Wales

What age is David's other child?

Re Steph, I don't see Toni Colette at all. Definitely Kate O'Mara

Many, many people are "dull" though. Sensible, realistic, calm, quiet, pragmatic. Not everyone is funny, wacky, zany, a great conversationalist. Admittedly, this doesn't necessarily work so well for tv.

joolsella · 23/09/2024 07:46

Of course!

Im talking about an entertainment show

No, but they went on this programme knowing their potential sticking points, and shouldn't now be worrying about logistics.

Ohmychristdawn · 23/09/2024 07:48

I'd be well ticked off too if i was given a bit of a 'buck up' talk by someone I'd only just met, the way Vicky did with David. It'd make me re-think pursuing anything further. I'd see someone who 'corrected' me looming in the future and beat a hasty retreat.

joolsella · 23/09/2024 07:48

Perhaps they're not blown away by their options

When you get to 50+, I think being blown away becomes less likely. You have to try and find connections, rather than sheer lust and thunder bolts pushing you together.

Steph reminds me of Kate O'Mara definitely older than 44.

Would liked to have seen lovely Martin back again too.

Thank you! It has been really bugging me who she reminded me of. You've got it!

joolsella · 23/09/2024 07:52

Agree which is why this doesn't make great telly

They could at least give them some decent dates..

I thought the same. They say date but then it's just a blanket on the grass in the garden or roller skating. The dance lesson was either garbage or very badly edited. The kids thing is just pointless this time round. The kids all seem lovely but it adds nothing of value.

Yep, last year, not knowing the kids were there and "meddling" was so much better. But this year there have been a few comments like "I wonder why they chose us for the date"

martinisforeveryone · 23/09/2024 11:32

@Illjusthavethebreadsticks and @Foxybyname YES! Thank you. Definitely Kate O’Mara and that’ll also add to why I think Steph seems older. Kate has a very commanding and self assured persona on screen.

Pavolvaa · 23/09/2024 12:38

I finished it on ITV player, vicky was awful!!! I don’t think the first guy did anything wrong and attachment to David seemed so random!

BIossomtoes · 23/09/2024 12:42

I think Christian had a lucky escape.

deltabluesandpinks · 23/09/2024 13:57

I know it's edited but I really struggled to see how Vicky and David became a couple. She's certainly a beautiful woman and clearly very intelligent as a deputy head. He seems like a cool guy. But they just didn't seem to fit together. It always looked awkward.

I love Jenny and Danny and really hope they run the course, just like Janey and Roger from last year.
I didn't really know what to make of Steph. She's clearly had an awful few years and my heart goes out to her having nursed her dad. I find it difficult to reconcile comments about not thinking of herself from her daughter when looking at her and the aesthetic work she's had done. Maybe that's me for whom it's not normal at all within my social and wider circle for people to have Botox, lip fillers etc.

What's Jungle? (I have tickets to Jungle...)

Ah, just found the thread!!

Littleguggi · 23/09/2024 22:10

I agree Vicky and Dee are an odd couple, they don't match intellectually or emotionally. What do they actually see in each other.

Jenny and Danny are also an odd couple, they just laugh constantly and it's a pretty awkward watch. Their first kiss was mega cringe, no chemistry whatsoever.

It’s not quite the over 40’s Love Island it was initially touted as, that’s for sure 🤣

Romeiswheretheheartis · 23/09/2024 22:25

I enjoyed watching last week, but tonight I felt like the majority of them have given up. I'd completely forgotten that guy Chris was even there until near the end. I too find Jenny and Danny quite awkward to watch, it all feels very self conscious - which I guess they are, but it's not allowing them to act naturally around each other.

browneyes77 · 23/09/2024 22:35

I do love the 80’s tunes they keep playing though 😂
