Fraser on channel 4

I would love to know how many times Fraser has looped on channel 4 mornings, its got to be over 20 years of being shown now. I love seeing the first series with Frasers hair down to his his shoulders and Marty Cranes bad attitude, which suits his character so much better than the soft agreeable Marty we end up with , I still laugh even though I've seen them a few times, I've never actually seen them all the way through to the end.
If anyone actually knows how many times the series has restarted I would like to know lol

Those Maris stories were brilliant.
The time a disgruntled servant put a whoopee cushion on Maris' chair but she was too light to trigger it!

And when Niles tried to chase after her in the snow but couldn't as she left no footprints.

Or when Frasier puts a ramekin on the head of Niles's Italian whippet to show how much she looks like Maris in a pill-box hat.

Healingsfall · 14/09/2024 21:39

Yes and

"Do you see the coat rack?"
"Yes"
"Is it moving?"
"Oh my god"

Or she couldn't help lick the envelopes for the Congressman's campaign because she produced no saliva. However, she sent a servant.

Maris didn't pay her parking fine-
"Could they put my Maris in jail?"
"Only if they put the bars closer together".

They are incredibly well-written. I particularly love the episode ‘Out with Dad’. So clever.

My favourite too! Daphne bursting out laughing in the kitchen when Frasier tells her what's going on 😆

Healingsfall · 14/09/2024 21:52

One of my favourite daphne lines was when Martins foam thing went off in the bathroom and sounded like a gunshot... "he was detective you know..." 🤣

I adore Frasier. I could not NOT have it in my life. Sounds extreme, but true! I must have watched every episode hundreds of times over, and yet I still find new things to appreciate, even just a gesture. It was a masterpiece in writing and acting. It is my absolute comfort watch, especially if I’m feeling down.

CarmelaBrunella · 14/09/2024 22:02

I like it because often the episodes were like a play, none of the quick cutting between short scenes.

murasaki · 14/09/2024 22:07

When Gil tells them that Deb isn't his cat but his wife (albeit a Sarah Lawrence graduate with her own garage and a sideline in the TA) and he says that Gil is the only person ever to have 'inned' himself.

HauntedBungalow · 14/09/2024 22:21

@thatone I love the one when Daphne's old boyfriend comes to visit and she and Roz compete over him. omg that's one of my favourites for them all just bouncing off each other, you can tell they're very in synch and have a great working relationship. The lies become more and more convoluted then Martin joins in with "I was an astronaut" and it moves up yet another gear.

I would love to go to Seattle to pay my own homage like a pp did - I know none of it's really there, but I'd like to create it with my steps.

I have found my tribe...love Frasier! And whoever said Friday nights...Frasier/Cheers, Roseanne, Golden Girls...that was my childhood!

Me too! Eating M&S crisps!

I can watch it over and over, absolutely love it. Must admit the later episodes when Daphne and Niles are a couple are nowhere near as good as the earlier ones though. The writing is so so good and all of the characters are fantastic.

So hard to choose a favourite episode, but I do love the ski chalet one, the one mentioned upthread by @Twistybranch where Martin introduces Sherry, and any episode featuring Lilith

"So hard to choose a favourite episode, but I do love the ski chalet one."

Wait, wait, wait. Let me see if I've got this straight. All the lust coursing through this lodge tonight, all the hormones virtually ricocheting off the walls, and no one... was chasing me?

hexsnidgett · 14/09/2024 22:37

Frasier: Have you ever had an unexpressed thought?
Niles: I'm having one now.

We have the box set and rewatch the whole thing every couple of years.

lavenderlou · 14/09/2024 22:40

I'm on mat leave and it has been our little routine to watch every morning whilst having breakfast / feeding etc.

This makes me nostalgic as I used to have exactly the same mat leave routine with DD1. She is now 14!

GellerYeller · 14/09/2024 22:56

I love the Ski Lodge: ‘I’m not gay, Guy’!
And all the Lilith episodes.
It tickles me that Daphne’s brothers were multinational but I do love the episodes surrounding her wedding.
I even liked the reboot although you have to give it a couple of rewatches.
I agree that Niles is the best thing in it.

DillDanding · 15/09/2024 01:41

I loved the ski lodge farce. And so many episodes but I loathed anything with Daphne’s family. I thought they ruined it.

Radicalpumkin90 · 15/09/2024 02:18

Frasier never gets old, love Eddie the dog too.

CarmelaBrunella · 15/09/2024 03:04

Eddie - remember the episode with the adorable baby Eddies that Frasier had to get rid of?

PuppyMonkey · 15/09/2024 07:23

just watching now - it’s the one where Frasier gets his case stolen and the thief impersonates him. Grin

PuppyMonkey · 15/09/2024 07:27

… and now it’s Dr Honey Snow! Grin

This for us too! We were watching the episode where they are trying to save their prep school and even tho we have watched it loads there was still a joke in there that we hadn't picked up on previously.
My absolute favourite one but is never shown on Ch 4 is the one where Marty gets high on a pot brownie. Marty is excellent in that. Also the one where Marty takes part in the Christmas pageant where Eddie grabs the baby Jesus and runs away with half the town of Bethlehem chasing after him. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sweet Mother 🤣🤣🤣

CarmelaBrunella · 15/09/2024 07:47

It's so clever because Niles thinks he's high, the reverse comedy is brilliant.
