Fraser on channel 4

I would love to know how many times Fraser has looped on channel 4 mornings, its got to be over 20 years of being shown now. I love seeing the first series with Frasers hair down to his his shoulders and Marty Cranes bad attitude, which suits his character so much better than the soft agreeable Marty we end up with , I still laugh even though I've seen them a few times, I've never actually seen them all the way through to the end.
If anyone actually knows how many times the series has restarted I would like to know lol

Random trivia: I read somewhere once that it was Prince William's favourite series at one point. I wonder which brother he most identified with?😆

I love Frasier and it's my favourite comfort watch. I've seen all of them loads of times. Agree that there's loads to it, so many references. And now that we know how many of the cast and writers were gay a lot of it resonates on a deeper level again. Some episodes are just standalone comic masterpieces - Niles and the trousers, and also The Ski Lodge - the first half of that episode doesn't have a single spare line of dialogue. It all sets up for the second half, which is the most glorious farce.

swizzlemix · 14/09/2024 16:08

Whenever my brothers and I are even slightly put out by something, we pull a snooty face and declare: "I am WOUND-ED!!!!"

EsmaCannonball · 14/09/2024 16:11

I've just remembered the one with the fencing instructor with all the translations from English into Spanish and into German.

Kelsey Grammer had some really awful things happen early in life so it's not surprising he's had his issues.

Lentilweaver · 14/09/2024 16:11

It's my favourite show of all time.

The reboot is incredibly awful. As you might expect with no Niles or Roz or Bebe or Lilith.

EllieQ · 14/09/2024 16:17

A brilliant series. I think the episode where Frasier has to replace his dad’s ugly chair after accidentally destroying it is my favourite, especially the line about getting the factory to admit they actually made the fabric 😀

I prefer the later episodes , so many great episodes and moments though. I’m not keen on the ones with Daphnes brothers . I’ve not watched the sequel because a) there is no Niles and he’s the best character and b) I cannot watch anything with Nicholas Lyndhurst in

That could have been me writing that!

Lentilweaver · 14/09/2024 16:20

One of my faves is the one where Frasier comes up with a theme tune for his show. And the one where Niles and Frasier throw a dinner party and veto each other's choices.
The dynamic between Niles and Frasier was just the purest TV chemistry.

RampantIvy · 14/09/2024 16:26

I loved Frasier, and still do. IMO it dates well.
I also used to love watching Cheers.

Friday night's were Cheers followed by Roseanne and/or The Golden Girls. Cheers then got replaced by Frasier.

Niles was my favourite character.

fluffiphlox · 14/09/2024 16:30

They are incredibly well-written. I particularly love the episode ‘Out with Dad’. So clever.

Releasethebat · 14/09/2024 16:49

I love that bit when Niles is telling Frasier how he has gotten Maris a gift of an antique riding saddle and Frasier says "How does it look on you?" You can tell they're both trying to keep a straight face.
Also the one where Frasier and his dad put a leash on a gecko to try get it to catch the cricket. It's so funny but there's something about it that always makes me wonder if they'd had a bit to drink when they were filming it.

MissMarplesNiece · 14/09/2024 17:04

I love Frasier, just reading through this thread had me laughing out loud. IMO it "went off" a bit when Niles and Daphne got together but even those episodes are funny.

I was off work ill for a long time and one of my co-workers used to randomly send me youtube clips from various Frasier episodes. It cheered me up so much when I received them.

Cynic17 · 14/09/2024 17:13

I adore Niles, and David Hyde Pierce is a genius. My greatest wish is that we could have - just once - seen Maris. But, of course, that would have ruined the whole thing. I do agree that the quality dropped after Niles and Daphne became a couple, tho.

grafittiartist · 14/09/2024 17:33

I could watch it forever. Never get tired of it.

Bloom15 · 14/09/2024 20:29

I love Frasier.

Favourite episodes are Ham Radio, Ski Lodge, Out with Dad and Three Valentines. I like Everybody Loves Raymond too

CarmelaBrunella · 14/09/2024 20:40

I liked Voyage of the Damned, where they're on that awful cruise. You see the outline of Maris as she prepares to romance The Barracuda.
Such funny lines!

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 14/09/2024 20:46

I love it too. It’s the only programme that has me actually laughing out loud. It’s so clever. My winter plan is to watch it all from the beginning.

Years ago, before smart TVs, catch up and streaming, Channel 4 had a whole weekend dedicated to Frasier. It must have been the late 90s. Does anyone else remember it? They showed the top 10 episodes voted by viewers on the Saturday evening I think.

Crunched · 14/09/2024 20:48

I adore Frasier. It gets so little attention compared to Friends. Don't know why, but when Bulldog appears I spontaneously weep - the characterisation is spot on.
I visited to Seattle purely because of Frasier. I know it wasn't filmed there, but I visited the apartments that provide the view and that coffee shop lifestyle is my ultimate dream that I am still trying to emulate.

AlexanderArnold · 14/09/2024 20:56

I have found my tribe...love Frasier! And whoever said Friday nights...Frasier/Cheers, Roseanne, Golden Girls...that was my childhood!

CarmelaBrunella · 14/09/2024 21:12

So many great characters. The KACL crew as well - Gil, Noel, Kenny, Kate - brilliant.

RampantIvy · 14/09/2024 21:15

When we went to Boston we went to the street where the outside of Cheers was filmed. I even bought a Cheers sweatshirt Grin

Healingsfall · 14/09/2024 21:16

They were very clever in not ever making maris a real life character, and instead making the audience use their imagination from their descriptions!

The Seal Who Came To Dinner"

"Do you recall what she used to do when one of our dogs needed a shampoo?"
"Yes, she'd fill the bathtub with Evian!"
"Half the time she'd just get a new dog!"

CarmelaBrunella · 14/09/2024 21:20

Those Maris stories were brilliant.
The time a disgruntled servant put a whoopee cushion on Maris' chair but she was too light to trigger it!

thatone · 14/09/2024 21:25

This is the most watched show in my family - there isn't a bad episode. I love the one when Daphne's old boyfriend comes to visit and she and Roz compete over him. Also the one when Roz was Kirby's prom date. The writing and delivery are pure genius.
