This looks right up my street

6 parts on Mon Tue wed for 2w

Channel 5 has announced that new mystery drama, The Wives, will start on Monday, September 16. Starring Jo Joyner, Tamzin Outhwaite, and Angela Griffin as sisters-in-law Beth, Sylvia and Natasha,

the six-part series follows the tumultuous aftermath of their sister-in-law Annabelle Morgan's disappearance during a family vacation in Malta.

As the story unfolds, viewers will see the characters' lives thrown into turmoil as Annabelle vanishes, leaving her husband Charlie and daughter Sky (www.walesonline.co.uk/all-about/sky) behind. With her phone discovered at a c
lifftop, authorities presume a fatal accident.

Fast-forwarding, the Morgans reconvene for a trip abroad, aiming to put the past behind them. Tensions surface when Charlie introduces his new, much younger girlfriend who bears an uncanny resemblance to the missing Annabelle

Doubt creeps in among the family members, leading Beth, Sylvia, and Natasha to question the nature of Annabelles disappearance and ponder if foul play was involved.

Resolving to uncover the truth, they embark on their own sleuthing mission.
In a gripping trailer for the show, confusion and suspicion mounts as Beth Morgan voices her disquiet: "Jade has showed up on the anniversary of Annabelle's death, wearing her clothes. It's just not normal! ", reports the Mirror (www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/channel-5-confirms-release-date-33631990)
.

Beth confesses to her family that she suspects Jade played a role in Annabelle's untimely end.

As they shadow Jade and Charlie across Malta, it becomes evident that secrets are being kept about the 'true' events of what transpired.

The Wives is a brand new six-part whodunnit style drama coming to Channel 5 in mid-September, with a star-studded cast including Jo Joyner, Tamzin Outhwaite, and Angela Griffin.

The series follows the Morgan family as they try to move on one year after the disappearance of a family member (Annabelle). Jo, Tamzin and Angela play three sisters-in-laws Beth, Sylvia and Natasha, as they attempt to piece together the shock disappearance of their other sister-in-law, Annabelle, in Malta.

Unless Annabelle has set the whole thing up to frame Charlie for being a cheating liar and milking her money 🤔

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2024 21:59

Frankie 🙀🙀🙀

friendlycat · 25/09/2024 22:00

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2024 22:00

So means there will be a s2

That didn't end properly at all.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2024 22:02

Wow

Well this has kept me on my toes. I thought she was dead

We all thought was Charlie and then sean but actually was Frankie

So Frankie arranged to have Annabelle killed so he could frame Charlie for her murder and get control of the company, because he’s always hated him?

friendlycat · 25/09/2024 22:05

So was it Frankie embezzling money out of the company?

martinisforeveryone · 25/09/2024 22:08

It's just left everything hanging. Damn.

Who was in the van that Luca said could come out now? was it the police, was he wearing a wire?

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2024 22:09

Omg. Just googled Annabelle and it's the long lost daughter from sherwood

Daphne's daughter

I know Christine Bottomle from in the club and was the midwife

Wow! Wasn't expecting Frankie to be the mob type character he turned out to be. Definitely lots of loose ends.

If police wouldn't they have arrested him

So does Charlie now rot in jail or will there be a second series????!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 25/09/2024 22:12

Well well well. Had to be Frankie. Charlie and Sean too obvious. Who was that in the van?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2024 22:13

Has to be a second series @justjuggling

Hate it when there are questions at the end of the finale rather than answers 🙄

friendlycat · 25/09/2024 22:17

Who was in the van ?
Why was Charlie doing a runner via boat?
How did Annabelle know of the fake payments to a supplier?
Where and what has Annabelle been doing for a year?
Why has Tom been ringing so much?

Rather a lot of unnecessary and unanswered questions.

martinisforeveryone · 25/09/2024 22:21

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2024 22:10

I wanted to know that as well

I thought it was one of the wives

If police wouldn't they have arrested him

Not if they’re still gathering evidence. Maybe they suspect he has an accomplice and need to knit it all together. Maybe the mysterious Tom’s involved.

Will Jade stick around? Will Sky find out who her father is? Will Annabel get her money back?

SydneyCarton · 25/09/2024 22:24

I assume it was the police in the van, although I don’t know how much of the conversation they could really have picked up. I guess Frankie might also have the motive of getting rid of Annabelle in case she ever threatened to tell Beth that he was Sky’s dad.

The whole thing was so much less than the sum of its parts; decent actors, lovely location, interesting premise, but it turned out to be pretty crap.

SydneyCarton · 25/09/2024 22:27

And Tom? What was the point of him, and the mysterious calls, and not being at the tennis club with the other brothers on the night of the “murder”? Where did that all go?

Jojoanna · 25/09/2024 22:34

Who let Luca out the van ? Why did Tasha have the chips, did she get them back from the police ?
Why is there so many loose ends ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2024 22:37

I guess she got her car back with the bag of chips
