So, currently broadcast (and just caught up with) Friday 2nd August. Recap:

Lauren - given birth to baby boy at 24 weeks after Joel hid labour inducing drugs in her soup
Jack - been charged with arson with intent to endanger life (Hope seemed pleased!)
Paul - going to donate his corneas to MND research, much to Bernie's dismay
Beth - lost box of fake t-shirts and told Carla where to stuff her job

What else?

I was thinking that @JMSA . He’s growing up into a really nice lad.
I like Asha too. She’s a kind and thoughtful friend.

Another one here who immediately thought of Wendy Crozier as potentially being a foster home for Lauren & Frankie.

The cushion was made in a day! Nina is a fast worker 🤣

Joel actor certainly has the wicked facial expressions worked out well! Hope he goes down very soon.

Is Betsy the biological daughter of DI Swain or was the 'mother' who died her bio-mum?

The younger actors are definitely coming on well, I like Lauren/Betsy/Max/Hope/Sam and even Jack seemed a bit more natural.

Good old Kenny reminiscing about smoking - he mentions Peter but I can remember nearly every character smoked in Corrie in the old days!

I remember Diedre smoking.

It was Betsy's bio mum who died.

I thought Wendy Crozier said that Abi was her last fostering project, and she was now retired? Not that that means anything in Corrie...

Mothers die a lot in Coronation Street. Fizz has survived. Daisy has a mother. Izzy is alive and Abi. Two parents is virtually unknown.

I think it would be feasible to run up a cushion in a day on a sewing machine, which Nina has. I half remember Roy buying her one but I might be remembering wrong. She had all the materials to hand.

@eggandonion Izzy's still alive, but Jake's surrogate mother was murdered.

You stand more chance of surviving in Midsommer than Weatherfield.

We haven't seen child of Izzy recently. He must be due some life threatening incident! I had forgotten that whatsit was the surrogate.
I had forgotten that Nina was a fashionista. I assume she makes a lot of her own clothes. Usually someone sews things in the factory lunchbreak.

An experienced seamstress, or even an inexperienced one tbh, could easily make a cushion in a day if they had everything they needed. I made 2 in an afternoon, and my sewing machine skills are pretty basic.

And nearly every resident of the street is has been in prison, even the most refined individuals. Slightly fewer have been so ill they needed a private hospital room at some point. It’s clearly safer living on Balaclava Terrace!

I've made cushion covers and you're correct a basic one whether square or otherwise wouldn't take long at all but Paul's was all patchwork so that would certainly take considerably longer.

At one point I think Amy was the only child with a) two living biological parents and b) said parents married to each other.

Bit weird when he's the age of my child, but Aadi looks good with that beard!

Also, it's really good acting because i feel sorry for Joel!

Swain is getting far too much screen time, I'm finding her even more annoying than Joel.

I liked the scenes with Daisy and Daniel, even though he's a starchy pillock.

So Sarah and Bethany are in the middle of a huge drama and Gail is yet again nowhere to be seen.

I really don't care about Bethany (nor does Gail apparently).

Loved the scenes with Roy and Lauren tonight. So beautiful and understated.

Made a real change to see Lauren being calm. I almost warmed to her.

Anyone else find the on/off Daisy, Daniel storyline soooooo boring.
I think the writers are desperate to recreate the drama of Ken, Deirdre, with new people
Daisy is so annoying; self- absorbed and stares moronically into background for dramatic effect. And now Bethany drama being thrown into the mix …..

I think having a more chubby actress/character may have made more sense. Bethany is what - 9 stone?

As a pp said, Bethany just seemed to react badly to a comment about her weight last week. Nothing before - ever. Odd.
