Couldn't see a new thread (please delete if there is one!)
So, currently broadcast (and just caught up with) Friday 2nd August. Recap:

Lauren - given birth to baby boy at 24 weeks after Joel hid labour inducing drugs in her soup
Jack - been charged with arson with intent to endanger life (Hope seemed pleased!)
Paul - going to donate his corneas to MND research, much to Bernie's dismay
Beth - lost box of fake t-shirts and told Carla where to stuff her job

What else?

Gemma looked unrecognisable at the NTAs, in a good way, as well. And it shows off her acting much better when she's not putting on that drawn out chavvy drawl, yes the scene with her telling the kids was really lovely.

Gemma looked amazing at the NTA's (Dolly Rose Campbell.) I couldn't believe how different she looked. She looks like a hideous scruffy little skank on Coronation Street, but looked gorgeous at the NTA's. It's like Cilla off Classic Corrie. She looks like an angry bulldog there, but in real life, she's actually quite pretty with a really sweet smile and sparkling eyes.

It's amazing how an ugly personality can make you look ugly too... Although Gemma hasn't got an ugly personality as a character, she's just a really. common skank!

Actually, all the ladies looked absolutely amazing at the NTA's. There really are some attractive women in Coronation Street. Smile

What de fook is up with David's hair?

It looks like the topping on a lemon meringue pie!

AuntieMaud · 14/09/2024 11:52

I've just watched the clip of Jemma s wedding again. That dress!!!!!! 👀😁🥳

I agree she was good at Paul's bedside. No over playing it. just terribly sad.

What de fook is up with David's hair?

In real life he's had a transplant.

Calling another woman, albeit a character, skunk is awful.

suburburban · 14/09/2024 12:06

Him and Rowan, big hair

Shellingbynight · 14/09/2024 13:29

I love David and I can forgive his wild hair. Just about. He needs to ask Maria to cut it for him.

I struggle to find polite words to accurately describe Gemma because she is such a cartoon character. I don't think she's particular nice, she is often rude and whiny (and let's not forget the stealing).

It would be great if Paul's death led to some changes, like Gemma de-chavving, Summer bucking up a bit, and Billy winding in the dramatics.

So where is Dev, did he go to India? I missed that. Just to make Bernie feel even more alone.

DaisyStarburst · 14/09/2024 15:15

I really felt for Bernie, so alone in it all and trying to keep busy and not cry because she'll never stop. I've been there, it's how I deal with grief but it will catch up with her eventually.

WiddlinDiddlin · 14/09/2024 15:44

Ugh, bloody knew it, they're all going to have huge drama about not telling Billy that Paul had gasped his last before the phone call...

Irritating as the latest studies show the dying person can still hear you for quite a while (a really scarily long time actually!) after that last breath, so in reality, he WOULD almost certainly have heard him.

eggandonion · 14/09/2024 16:20

Maybe dr gadass will have read it and tell them. Or Dev in Readers Digest on plane.
David knows about death of a partner. In fact most characters have been through grief....

WiddlinDiddlin · 14/09/2024 19:06

Is there anyone on the street who hasn't experienced the death of a partner or a child, or some sort of major life changing health drama?

bizzey · 14/09/2024 19:20

After wracking my brain ...
Brian
The Baileys (? Dee Dee was close to Paul?)

WiddlinDiddlin · 14/09/2024 19:34

Hmm, you might be on to something with Brian...

The Baileys - the youngest one, the footbally one nearly died at a charity football match with a sudden heart attack.

AnnieSnap · 14/09/2024 23:43

I’m just obsessed with the horrible Joel storyline. I think everyone involved in it is great. I’m warming more and more to Lisa.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 15/09/2024 10:05

Kit seems to have disappeared thought he would have been at Billy's with all the others.

PiggieWig · 15/09/2024 11:16

Kit wasn’t at the hospital either, was he? He dashed off when it seemed Billy wasn’t going to be there. I though he was going to do some dramatic police thing to get him there, but he just vanished.

Shellingbynight · 15/09/2024 11:19

Did they even tell Kit that Paul has died? He wasn’t featured at all on Friday as far as I remember, and Gemma didn't mention him. First there was no Todd, now no Kit.

Lorrymum · 15/09/2024 13:13

I was amazed that Lisa knew that Paul had died. In fact the whole street seemed to know within a few hours.

eggandonion · 15/09/2024 13:31

It is a very close knit community.
And everyone has a broken toaster and kettle so they are constantly in Roy's. Where is Roy?

Shellingbynight · 15/09/2024 15:20

When my friend died, everyone knew within half an hour because her husband went on his Whatsapp group, and they then texted everyone else who needed to know. We didn't even need to turn up in Roys Rolls.

eggandonion · 15/09/2024 15:36

In Ireland we have rip.ie with listings. And local radio read out the death notices.
I hope Paul has a good funeral. He deserves it.

PiggieWig · 16/09/2024 00:59

I think there will be ructions because Bernie wants to organise a right old shindig and Billy wants a churchified affair, but in the end it will work out, and we’ll all be crying.

bizzey · 16/09/2024 01:26

I feel the arguments , hand wringing , shouting and what nots ..is not need after such a poignant death .

Corrie and Peter did the MND story so well ....I really don't want them to spoil it with soap opera drama .

Or at least , if there has to be a bit of drama ....it is not dragged out.

eggandonion · 16/09/2024 08:08

I think Todd will intervene and it will be lovely.

Shellingbynight · 16/09/2024 08:16

Billy is obviously going to find out that Paul was already dead, so more drama and self pity. I suspect he and Bernie will row over the funeral and she'll blurt it out. And then he'll find out Todd knew too, and Billy will blame everyone and behave badly. So never mind about Paul, it's all about Billy. Again.

eggandonion · 16/09/2024 08:59

Poor Summer being stuck with Billy.
