Couldn't see a new thread (please delete if there is one!)
So, currently broadcast (and just caught up with) Friday 2nd August. Recap:

Lauren - given birth to baby boy at 24 weeks after Joel hid labour inducing drugs in her soup
Jack - been charged with arson with intent to endanger life (Hope seemed pleased!)
Paul - going to donate his corneas to MND research, much to Bernie's dismay
Beth - lost box of fake t-shirts and told Carla where to stuff her job

What else?

Why wouldn’t they?

Well, I wonder why they wrote it that way? Why not let him make it on time?
What does it add to the episode if its not going to come out somehow?
Maybe by accident.
I mean it did make it more sad, but would that be the writers motivation?

strugglingwithlife · 09/09/2024 21:33

Absolutely bawled 😭

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/09/2024 21:34

I take it Paul has passed away.
I won’t be able to watch it. Ill be sobbing to the point where I can’t talk. I’ll just watch from Wednesday.

strugglingwithlife · 09/09/2024 21:36

It was very sad @Awwlookatmybabyspider and I wish I hadn't watched tbh

This is being done so well. Hope Billy makes it.

It has been done well but very harrowing to watch. There was an announcement at the 3nd from the MND Association saying they worked with them to make people more aware of the disease which is a good thing.

It's not on on Wednesday. NTA are on, so no more Corrie until Friday.

I didn't watch the episode when Lola died in Eastenders. Sometimes you just don't want/can't put yourself through it.

Shellingbynight · 09/09/2024 21:47

@MichaelAndEagle I agree, I think they would have them in the family room when the doctor spoke to them, not sat in a public corridor.

It is one storyline amongst the dross which has been very well done. Peter Ash has played it so well. Oddly enough the line which got to me tonight was Gemma(!) saying in the ambulance “I’ll be here for you like when we were born”. The Billy stuff was to add jeopardy. Unfortunately it will inevitably now lead to a lot of Billy Angst which I can really do without.

As for the Institute rubbish… fortunately it looks like it’s finally over.

BirthdayRainbow · 09/09/2024 22:10

Just finished watching.

Wow. Words fail me.

Bernie really has stepped up. I hope it doesn't come out that Kit had too help as it will just cause more upset for them.

Freespeechisvital · 09/09/2024 22:12

I thought it was awful
Let's make it all about Billy like Paul was an after thought.
Instead we have idiot Billy running about puffing and panting
Wierd and insensitive
He will find out and it will be wringing of 🙏 prayer hands and alllll about him
Grrr

suburburban · 09/09/2024 22:16

Where was Todd

bizzey · 09/09/2024 22:32

Wow 😢😢....in bits 😢..

Even Gemma was good .

Bernie was so brave .

MollsDolls · 09/09/2024 23:16

suburburban · 09/09/2024 22:16

Where was Todd

I was thinking same. And why didn't Billy just jump in a cab once he got out of the car park?Other than that I thought it was brilliant. Harrowing but brilliant. I think Peter Ashe has been fab the last months. Bawling here too.

DumbassHamsterSitterPerson · 09/09/2024 23:25

Absolutely sobbing here.

Why, for once, could someone not die with all their loved ones there. Bernie was incredible. How she didn't just howl, but instead stayed strong and let Billy think Paul could hear him. Wow. What a woman.

WiddlinDiddlin · 10/09/2024 05:20

Didn't elicit a single tear, sorry folks.

I liked the bit where they didn't spell out to Billy that Paul had passed, and tbh, whilst they suspect he was gone he probably wasn't, it was his last breath... but it takes a few minutes after that, he may still have heard (well he would if Billy hadn't done a stupidly long dramatic silence)...

The rest though, drama drama one side of town, Billy and Weasel Platt the otherside wandering around reminiscing and suffering a hang over.. Billy rushing about.. nah. Could have done without that. Now it will be endless Billy PrayerHands doing his infamous Woe Is Me for bloody weeks (until he finds a new shag and forgets all about Paul of course).

Glad the institute shit seems to be over, Rowans creepy face, hahaha! :D

Willthiswork78 · 10/09/2024 06:17

I cried, but think that was to do with Bernie. Should never bury a child. The Billy storyline was cruel.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 10/09/2024 06:48

Bernie was outstanding, the way she ushered Gemma in who was reluctant to was so realistic.

AmusedMaker · 10/09/2024 07:15

Agree *WiddlinDiddlin - I found it all a bit silly. The love of Paul’s life stuck in Fresco’s car park? I mean, how romantic. *

I like all the institute stuff, Rowan is perfect in the role and very convincing.

Clawdy · 10/09/2024 08:07

I liked the bit where Rowan called Leanne a gullible fool! She certainly had been, for weeks!

Shellingbynight · 10/09/2024 08:30

Bernie was great. But it felt wrong that Todd did not have a chance to say goodbye to Paul. I hope he gets some more screentime in the aftermath, although if it is mixed up with Billy wailing and gnashing his teeth I will have to fast forward.😧

eggandonion · 10/09/2024 08:34

Todd will be full of empathy.
Paul actor was brilliant the past few months.
I really want Kit to be nice.
I dread the exciting new pre Christmas dramas to come.

Cural · 10/09/2024 08:35

Paul actually dying was secondary to all the rushing around rubbish.

Left me cold.

eggandonion · 10/09/2024 08:48

For the family at a deathbed that is the whole world in that room. And there is often someone trying to get there...just usually flight delays and not pantomime billy.
Outside normal life continues...just not usually bent coppers, hairdresser institute men with complex swindling, two timing bistro owners, strange detectives and small mouthed misogynists...
Who did Carla knock down? I must have missed that.

suburburban · 10/09/2024 09:02

Why didn't Billy borrow David's phone to check on Paul or get a message to them somehow even if he wasn't sure of number.

Was a nonsense

strugglingwithlife · 10/09/2024 09:32

Also I also thought surely a Dr wouldn't talk about it to the family in the waiting area and would take them into a private room
