Couldn't see a new thread (please delete if there is one!)
So, currently broadcast (and just caught up with) Friday 2nd August. Recap:

Lauren - given birth to baby boy at 24 weeks after Joel hid labour inducing drugs in her soup
Jack - been charged with arson with intent to endanger life (Hope seemed pleased!)
Paul - going to donate his corneas to MND research, much to Bernie's dismay
Beth - lost box of fake t-shirts and told Carla where to stuff her job

What else?

As mentioned earlier the thread, Tracey's transplant would be failing by now. I had forgotten Carla had a transplant!

I had also forgotten that Peter had a transplant!

I can’t remember who was left paralysed when there was a mini bus crash years ago but in the blink of an eye the character was up and walking out of her wheelchair, no physio needed, and no-one mentioned her paralysis again.

Carla was an alcoholic for a few episodes then suddenly back in the Rovers drinking wine.

Ditto when Peter was crushed by the tram. He was at death’s door one minute and fine the next.

Shellingbynight · 07/09/2024 15:03

Yes that's right @Eastie77Returns it was Bradley Walsh.

Carla's alcoholism and mental health problems all healed up really nicely didn't they.

It was Sinead who was paralysed in the bus crash - she didn't have a lot of luck did she😆 Big Jim was also paralysed and in a wheelchair for a while, I think he fell off scaffolding.

So he did😀

Corrie can be very Tom and Jerry

Has Nick has recovered from his serious brain injury? Hard to tell.

AmusedMaker · 07/09/2024 16:13

Nick always looks a bit constipated with those faces he pulls.

BirthdayRainbow · 07/09/2024 16:14

I can't imagine Adam Rickett playing Nick as he is now.

I completely forgot about Nick’s brain injury😂
The only near death experience I can remember with him is when he was sinking in quicksand at the beach.

Didn’t David have Epilepsy at one point? And Max was medicated for some kind of behavioural issue when he was younger. Both issues have miraculously cleared up.

AuntieMaud · 07/09/2024 18:29

Didn't Shona also have some kind of brain injury? 🤕

Mollypolly2610 · 07/09/2024 18:30

And Shona's brain injury

Lulubellamozarella · 07/09/2024 18:37

Don't forget Craigy and his OCD and Chesney and his anxiety. Both seem completely cured now!

familyissues12345 · 07/09/2024 19:03

I think Shona's brain injury is still occasionally brought up, she still blurts things out etc, but I'd say they've definitely forgotten about everything else!

And the amount of transplants which happen and never mentioned. I think there was a brief mention of Carla's ?kidney transplant after the pandemic when it was suggested she'd been shielding as a result but Tracy's and Peters were never mentioned again. Peter's story was so far fetched. He had a liver transplant even though he was still drinking heavily at the time whereas the NHS won't put you on the list until you've been sober 6 months. They're not going to waste time and money giving the transplant to someone who'll be down the pub before their hospital bed has had a chance to cool down. At least Eastenders was more realistic, and Phil was shown to have to jump through the required NHS hoops.

If my memory is correct Carla was straight into the Rovers after coming out of hospital with a new kidney, and was knocking back the wine as if nothing had happened.

HeySummerWhereAreYou · 07/09/2024 20:54

You guys have reminded me of all the storylines that have been conveniently forgotten. 😆 Except for Jack's leg, I had not forgot that! (Not like them!)

Also, Toyah saying to Nick she can't do this to her sister! And practically binning him off! 😂 Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. 😆 HA HA HA Nick!

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 08/09/2024 03:59

Is the pop up transplant centre still next to co op 😂😂

WiddlinDiddlin · 08/09/2024 04:05

But at the same time as forgetting allllllll these long term health conditions and disabilities... Coronation St is totally accessible to wheelchair users without bother (except if they're Paul)...

Wasn't Issy in Speed Dahl the other day, which is accessed only by stairs!

CherryogDog · 08/09/2024 06:41

Not like the old days acting, the actor that played Don Brennan had a false leg in real life.
He walked completely normally.
When he lost it in the soap he had to learn to walk with a limp. No football for him. Today the character would be running marathons and swimming the channel after a month.

Clawdy · 08/09/2024 08:14

Shona did mention her brain injury last week, in a slightly joking way.

Shellingbynight · 08/09/2024 08:17

David had epilepsy long ago. And Max was medicated for ADHD. Neither are ever mentioned.

Yes I thought the same about Izzy in Speed Dahl. I doubt her wheelchair would even get through the door at the Rovers.

Billy hasn’t been that great a husband to Paul, he made no effort to get him an accessible place to live!

Eastie77Returns · 08/09/2024 16:38

Oh and there's was Ken's massive stroke a few years ago. In the aftermath he spoke out of the side of his mouth for a handful of episodes and then he was absolutely fine.

BirthdayRainbow · 08/09/2024 16:52

They have so many writers who don't seem to write a tranche of episodes consecutively so maybe that's why stuff gets forgotten. It's rubbish and disrespectful to the viewers as well as the actors and actresses.

Have i dreamt this or did he have a stroke in real life?
I really couldn't take to the character Paul when he started, but the actor is doing an amazing job. Huge credit to him.

PiggieWig · 08/09/2024 20:47

If Joel’s a goner I’d like his demise to be on a par with Yasmeen’s husband falling off her roof. Geoff, that was it.
A perfect end to that pantomime villain.

BingoNight · 09/09/2024 12:53

Just caught with last Friday's, I think Paul has passed away.
It seemed set up for that with his lack of oxygen scare that Kit didn't mention, Bernie tucking him up in bed, Billy getting drunk with friends and being told not to wake Paul when he returned from his night but to sleep on the sofa.

Yes Ha ha Nick! I said the same myself.
I didn't like the way he was shouting at Leanne who had every right to be sarcastic and upset.

Unfortunately I think you are right. I think Friday's show was gearing up to Paul dying. Kit will no doubt be racked with guilt that he didn't mention the fact he had to give Paul oxygen. Billy will be racked with guilt that he went out. Bernie will be racked with guilt for making Billy sleep on the sofa. It is all so obvious really that everyone is going to blame themselves.
