Couldn't see a new thread (please delete if there is one!)
So, currently broadcast (and just caught up with) Friday 2nd August. Recap:

Lauren - given birth to baby boy at 24 weeks after Joel hid labour inducing drugs in her soup
Jack - been charged with arson with intent to endanger life (Hope seemed pleased!)
Paul - going to donate his corneas to MND research, much to Bernie's dismay
Beth - lost box of fake t-shirts and told Carla where to stuff her job

What else?

OP posts:

They had better not kill off bloody Joel like they usually do with villains to get them off the screen.

strugglingwithlife · 05/09/2024 16:36

I hope they do kill him off, I can't stand him

ArabellaFishwife · 05/09/2024 16:50

Nobody likes him. But we need to see justice done, not have him conveniently dispatched in an accident, unless it's funny of course.

Shellingbynight · 05/09/2024 16:58

You really want to see weeks of Joel, Swain, DeeDee and Lauren in a courtroom?? 🙃
No thanks, chuck him in the canal.

ArabellaFishwife · 05/09/2024 17:08

Okay. But make it funny, at least.

Shellingbynight · 05/09/2024 18:26

Oh yes, I'd be on board with that😆

TheFifthTellytubby · 06/09/2024 00:20

Odd that Sarah and Bethany weren't at Max's 18th to join in all the fun and games ... Gail only has to utter the dreaded words "famleh meal" and you just know it's all going to end in tears 😁

Bettyfromlondon · 07/09/2024 07:48

Just catching up after being away.
Have just watched Beth being seen off by Craig, Daniel and Bertie. Of course Kit just happens to come round the corner.Yawn!
And Daniel of course is carrying a very big Bertie. In soapland children get carried almost until they leave primary school.
Loved the scene with all four quads and a rarely seen smiley Joseph.

Am almost feeling sorry for Leanne, she and Nick have been on and off since they were teenagers. And Toyah! Yuck! Peter, Imran and now Nick! How many more of her sisters cast offs will she sleep with?

Shellingbynight · 07/09/2024 08:44

I saw that last night's episode was written by two long-time good writers (Jonathan Harvey and Damon Alexis Rochefort) so I watched, and it was not a bad episode. Some good lines. Nice scenes with Tracey, and they really know Leanne. That is exactly how she'd behave, lashing out and then manipulating Toyah to make sure everyone gets to be miserable, not just her.

Kit is an enigma, genuinely kind to Paul, and a nightmare everywherelse. Good to see David and Todd getting some screentime, I loved the scenes in the bar with 'old McFly'.

I missed the start but there only seemed to be 2 minutes of Joel and no DeeDee or Lauren👌That storyline is sapping the life out of the show.

She forgot her institute strategies and persona very quickly.

How did Amy expect to receive any money from the institute anyway?

Shellingbynight · 07/09/2024 10:39

A very good question, with no sane answer!

Spidey66 · 07/09/2024 11:01

Have they forgotten Jack has had a leg amputated? It's never mentioned and he walks normally!

The whole thing is quite grim. Leanne has been married to Nick and Peter. Carla has been married to Peter and went out with Nick. Toyah was engaged(?) to Peter and is now with Nick.

MillyCentTap · 07/09/2024 11:53

What was it Leanne said last night? Something about needing a haircut she was waiting so long. I found it funny but obviously not funny enough to remember it properly.

I, and I'm sure many others, could have done without the bit the other night about Steve alluding to shaving (or whatever they do nowadays) his pubes. Pointless and not in any way funny. Actually probably more disturbing, the mind immediately going to Steve without his clothes before you've got time to stop it Envy < not envy

Shellingbynight · 07/09/2024 12:02

Yes that was a good line, something like "get on with it, I'll be needing a haircut at this rate". I didn't watch Wednesday so missed Steve's plums.

@Eastie77Returns On Leanne's wedding day to Peter she was considering leaving him for Nick, who she was having an affair with! And at the moment Classic is around the time that Leanne is shagging Jamie Baldwin, and also having an affair with his dad, Danny.

MillyCentTap · 07/09/2024 12:24

Ew, Steve's plums. I'll leave the rest of my Victorias for the wasps.

Thank you for the reminder of Leanne's line @Shellingbynight 🙂

Cural · 07/09/2024 12:27

Steve's manscaping is not something I want to hear about.....ever!

I agree. What a limp piece of continuity from the writers. Shame on them.

See what I did there?

SORRY 😔

Spidey66 · 07/09/2024 13:37

@AuntieMaud
Maybe his leg has grown back? Anything is possible in soapland. People come back from the dead all the time in Eastenders after all!

Cural · 07/09/2024 13:42

Jack's character is totally unbelievable, even his leg can't act.

Spidey66 · 07/09/2024 13:46

And the amount of transplants which happen and never mentioned. I think there was a brief mention of Carla's ?kidney transplant after the pandemic when it was suggested she'd been shielding as a result but Tracy's and Peters were never mentioned again. Peter's story was so far fetched. He had a liver transplant even though he was still drinking heavily at the time whereas the NHS won't put you on the list until you've been sober 6 months. They're not going to waste time and money giving the transplant to someone who'll be down the pub before their hospital bed has had a chance to cool down. At least Eastenders was more realistic, and Phil was shown to have to jump through the required NHS hoops.

DumbassHamsterSitterPerson · 07/09/2024 13:49

I used to work with someone who had a prosthetic leg.
He couldn't wear it all day, every day as it was quite exhausting. And he had frequent appointments to get the fitting checked and changed, and replacement gel 'socks' that went between the stump and the prosthetic.

And he was a fully grown adult. Presumably a growing teen would need even more appointments to make sure the leg was the right size.

Shellingbynight · 07/09/2024 14:03

They really messed up with the amputation storyline, it is one of those 'raising awareness' storylines which they quickly forget about when it becomes inconvenient.

As mentioned earlier the thread, Tracey's transplant would be failing by now. I had forgotten Carla had a transplant!

I vaguely remember the Jamie/Danny storyline. Was Danny played by Bradley Walsh? Leanne has certainly been around the block a few times.

Steve was quite the looker in his day but his decline has been rapid in recent years.
