So, currently broadcast (and just caught up with) Friday 2nd August. Recap:

Lauren - given birth to baby boy at 24 weeks after Joel hid labour inducing drugs in her soup
Jack - been charged with arson with intent to endanger life (Hope seemed pleased!)
Paul - going to donate his corneas to MND research, much to Bernie's dismay
Beth - lost box of fake t-shirts and told Carla where to stuff her job

What else?

Every storyline seems to me to be going at least a step further than it ought to. For Joel and Lauren, make it about twenty.

Agreed @ArabellaFishwife they just don't seem to know when enough is enough, storylines drag on endlessly. And so much crime and misery.

Last night, Tracey ranting about Rowan in the Rovers: "What kind of heartless person takes tens of thousands of pounds off somebody?" Carla: "I really don't know - any ideas, Daisy?"😂

Ah sorry - didn't spot the post from earlier. But that's what they actually said and it was very funny. Best part was Daisy's face!😂

Swain is very one note. Her expression never seems to change. She also has very starey eyes and doesn't seem to blink!! Obviously she does! It's difficult to see how her character can develop as she only has one personal relationship in CS and that's her daughter. The other people she interacts with are other police and Carla who is far from a personal friend. CS is all cops and robbers these days.

Swain and Lauren's hair both annoy me with their late 90's strands hanging down.

I'm sure Joel would be steering well clear of Lauren, to protect himself. Anyone could have walked in while he was grabbing her and threatening her.
And the scene in Speed Dahl - as if anyone would leave their handbag on a counter near the door, and walk off across the restaurant!

It is annoying me that Lauren's is going totally against all her instincts just to keep this story going on and on
Initially she ran away because he tried to kill her then he grabs her in the hospital, she runs away but then moves into his flat
Hes tried to kill the baby she let's him see the baby, he's now manipulating her into reactive abuse so he can go after custody etc ( I think that's what he's after just speculation)

In RL she would go to the police and WA and he would be locked up by now
Joel's teeth are fricking creeping me out now !

Swain's hair is really annoying isn't it? Despite it being nice hair. She is a terrible cop, maybe she will throw it in and go and run t'factreh with Carla. She'd have to get a personality first though.

The whole Joel-Lauren storyline is totally unbelievable as you say @Freespeechisvital . When Lauren saw Joel she didn't back out of the room and call security, oh no she went in and shut the door behind her, just to make sure he had privacy to threaten her.🙄

I can't stand the institute story line but do think the actor plays it well. Watching that interview is so eye opening- must be hard for him to do but I really think well done to him.

Is anyone else getting all the blonde girls mixed up? Betsy, Lauren, and Bethany keep confusing my menopausal brain fox. It's as well Kelly is no longer in it!

I know what you mean but I remember it this way - in a crowded field, Bethany's the most annoying 😆

I don't get the current crop of blonde youngsters mixed up, but if you put Kelly back into the mix it might be a different story.

Tonight's episode was so poor. Neverending Swain-DeeDee-Joel-Lauren drivel, chasing each other from place to place. I am going to have to stop watching for a while.

I then watched some classic Corrie. So many characters to care about, doing things a person would realistically do.

I can take much more, it’s not Coronation Street I’m watching it’s The Bill, absolutely sick of it.

Why doesn't Lauren just say that Joel isn't the father and get him barred from the hospital. He doesn't have any proof that he is, iirc.
