Couldn't see a new thread (please delete if there is one!)
So, currently broadcast (and just caught up with) Friday 2nd August. Recap:

Lauren - given birth to baby boy at 24 weeks after Joel hid labour inducing drugs in her soup
Jack - been charged with arson with intent to endanger life (Hope seemed pleased!)
Paul - going to donate his corneas to MND research, much to Bernie's dismay
Beth - lost box of fake t-shirts and told Carla where to stuff her job

What else?

Yes I wonder what is happening there. Her kidney transplant has lasted 30 years (very unlikely). Surely she is not up the duff with Tommy's baby. I can't see Tracy wanting a baby, she was a disaster with Amy 20 years ago.

Did Tracy nip to the toilet again last night? Is she pregnant? Or is her kidney going to be remembered?

The character is meant to be 47, so unlikely.

Gosh! I didn't know that when you had a kidney transplant, that it doesn't last for your lifetime. Every day is a school day! Shock I just googled it - and apparently it only lasts 20 to 25 years. I thought it would just last for life ...

I know a man who had a kidney transplant about 17-18 years ago. (He's 56 now.) So it looks like he's only got about another 5 years left before he needs another one. I don't know if he will get one at 60. I don't know how it works. Will younger people be prioritised?

Also Tracy is nearly 48. I can't imagine she's pregnant!!! And if she is. I doubt very much that she'd keep it - not at 48! 😱

eggandonion · 29/08/2024 22:07

Id prefer a geriatric pregnancy to a kidney plot. But agree a kidney is more likely. I wonder who the donor could be this time.

Shellingbynight · 29/08/2024 22:14

@HeySummerWhereAreYou
I only know that about kidney transplants because I knew someone who was a transplant patient and several years after meeting him his 20+ year old transplant failed. He said he wasn't sure he wanted another transplant and would prefer portable dialysis. I know he became quite ill and ended up in intensive year but we then lost touch. (Not that I would expect Corrie to do this in a realistic fashion!)

PiggieWig · 29/08/2024 22:51

No way is Tracy up the duff. She’s the same age as me. It’s got to be the kidneys.

Freespeechisvital · 30/08/2024 07:45

Tracey was born 1977 so is 47.
Not unheard of and other soaps had Sharon and Denise ( EE) pregnant at 50.

Tommy Orpingtons baby? Ugh

Clawdy · 30/08/2024 08:02

Maybe Tracy will need another transplant, Steve will donate, and she will love him forever! 😁

Hopefully.

When Claire King was in Corrie around 2016-17, (playing Erica) she was dating Nick for a while, and she fell pregnant by him - and she was 52! Nick was 15 years younger than her, but looked more like 20 years younger. I remember the media and message boards all over the UK, Royally mocking the storyline with how ridiculous it was.

Imagine if they did a storyline now with Mary and Adam? And Mary got pregnant? Just because Erica was conventionally more attractive than Mary, it was still a ridiculous storyline. Less than 1% of women will fall pregnant naturally at that age, and the vast majority of women would not go to full term. Erica ended up miscarrying, which I think the writers made happen after the backlash.

Shellingbynight · 30/08/2024 11:24

I have absolutely no memory of Claire King or her character in Corrie, I had to wiki it. And reading it, I still have no memory of it. It sounds ridiculous! Link for anyone with similar amnesia

BirthdayRainbow · 30/08/2024 16:57

I felt sorry for Claire King doing that story line as she wasn't able to have children. It felt cruel.

BirthdayRainbow · 30/08/2024 16:57

I was watching Classic Emmerdale and Jenny was in it.

bizzey · 30/08/2024 18:48

Got Jenny AND Billy in it at the moment !! 🤣🤣

eggandonion · 30/08/2024 21:44

Joel is going to get a dna test...definitely Bobby is the daddy. He had a cosy night in with Lauren. That's all it takes.

Roryno · 30/08/2024 21:55

I’m not liking how this Joel story is going. Surely they’d have CCTV around a premature baby unit!!

EachandEveryone · 30/08/2024 22:14

Or I’m expecting Lauren to record him

eggandonion · 30/08/2024 22:18

Is it a unit...there only seems to be Frankie in there. But it does need security.

hattimehead · 31/08/2024 06:56

I loved the one liner between Carla and Daisy in the pub. I laughed out loud.

As for the Joel story, I don’t like the way it’s going. Hopefully, they do catch him and it’s in a realistic way.

Are they wanting us to like Mason?

Shellingbynight · 31/08/2024 08:18

Last night's episode was full of unlikeable characters and ridiculous situations. It started badly with Beth, who I thought had gone - they did not need to drag that out, no one cares.

After the Joel and Lauren scene at the hospital I was feeling a strange mixture of rage and boredom so I switched off 😆

The Joel storyline has ruined almost a year of Corrie now, I don't care what happens I just want him off the screen.

Weatherfield policing is a disaster, you either have corrupt Kit or useless Craig and Swain. They obviously want us to like Swain but they have failed to give her a personality and the acting is one-note.

suburburban · 31/08/2024 10:02

Also the money transfer to institute

Wouldn't you send a £1 first to check if they received it and also do some research and who would send the whole 40K in one go

So realistic

Can't stand Betsy

Roryno · 31/08/2024 11:45

Is a shame Deedee’s mum isn’t still floating about that hospice- she had her nose in every ward there, there was no need for CCTV!

CosmicLove · 31/08/2024 14:00

I'm trying to find the time to get back into Corrie - I've just not had the time since having a little one. This thread is helping me get back up to speed so thank you! What is going on with Nick & Toyah though? How the hell did that come about?

What was said? Multi tasking so must have missed it as don't even remember those two together.

bizzey · 31/08/2024 14:42

It was a great quip .
I can't remember it word for word ...
But it was something like .

Daisy..." that's awful that people can scam other people out of their money "....

Carla..." YES .....isn't it Daisy "
With an absolutely filthy look added in....and Daisy looking uncomfortable !

I remembered thinking at the time...
Ohh nice one Carla 😁 😁!
