So, currently broadcast (and just caught up with) Friday 2nd August. Recap:

Lauren - given birth to baby boy at 24 weeks after Joel hid labour inducing drugs in her soup
Jack - been charged with arson with intent to endanger life (Hope seemed pleased!)
Paul - going to donate his corneas to MND research, much to Bernie's dismay
Beth - lost box of fake t-shirts and told Carla where to stuff her job

Dee Dee always looks gorgeous

Ikwym about Maureen Lipman’s character - I like her, but she’s not as good a character as Blanche.

I'm nominating Dee-Dee for the best ever Corrie wardrobe! She looks great in everything and her clothes looks like really good quality. I so have wardrobe envy.

I agree DeeDee always looks gorgeous - clothes and hair - and Channique is one of their best actresses. She's the only Bailey success. Uncle Ronnie is okay but he's barely in it.

Yes she's a stunner and one of my favourites. Her screen dad however could do with a new voice. His is cringey and is just about the worst I've heard on any soap. He's up there with David Hunter from Crossroads. 😄🫤

I missed the first 10 minutes. How did everyone on the street find out and why has Joel been released?

The Bailey family haven’t been a success have they. One of them was written out within months, and Dad Bailey is one of the worst actors I’ve ever seen. Mum Bailey I liked but she’s just disappeared. They had to bring DeeDee in to
save the family, but I doubt the Dad will be in it for much longer.

Yes mum Bailey was okay, but again she was barely in it, and then left. Dad Bailey and Michael are terrible.

I hope DeeDee gets on with taking Callum down, I've had enough of him. I liked that she put a tracker on his phone. They need to find that other girl he scared off, Ellie.

And Bethany isn't helping, yelling at Lauren. Just when I think I might be getting over my Bethany allergy it flares up again.

Nice to see some extras in the Rovers again though.

Bethany has turned into an even worse screechy girlfriend for Daniel than Daisy was! He’d never put up with that in real life. And Sarah needs to tell Bethany the truth rather than let her abuse Lauren.

Surely Bethany would believe Lauren considering everything she went through with Nathan or is she so blinded with her past, she can’t think of anything else

Did anyone else think Bethany and Daniel had broken up when she just said "what are you doing here?" to him outside the hospital???

@JewelleryCat and @Wishimaywishimight - totally agree. Nathan is (in this case) completely innocent! Unfortunately Kit is going to have to pay the price for planting evidence in Nathan's van...will Sarah fess up? She does know he planted it, right?

Loving DeeDee, Lauren and DS Swain these days...will Betsy come forward to give more evidence of Joel's wrongdoings? Whatever happened to Ellie?

Bethany is fixated - Nathan is evil so Nathan must be involved in every evil thing that happens. It was very uncomfortable watching her bully Lauren.

I hope all the baddies are a group and can be sent away together for a long time. Fed up with baddies.

I agree, very uncomfortable. Lauren is very vulnerable right now and it seems the only one on her side is Dee Dee. I’m not sure DS Swain is or maybe she is and has to go where the evidence takes her

Roy is supporting Lauren, and I think Max might have come round too? Swain is a bit ineffectual and of course has to overcome the obstacle of Kit the crooked cop. I think it'll be DeeDee who cracks the case!

Yeah Bethany annoyed me the way she was with Lauren.
Sarah always looks perfect, as does Daisy, I'm very envious. Dee Dee is stunning as well

Ds Swain’s plot was a little strange last night - as though Joel got into her head with the pathetic defence he was giving. And she’d been so certain about him after speaking to Betsy and Lauren. it didn’t seem likely to me.

What happened to Max's girlfriend Sabrina? Shame she couldn't come forward about how he was quite slimy towards her

In the beginning if Evelyn I really got the vibe that she was fake Granny. I wonder if the audience liked her so much that they dropped that story line.

I think she has got the measure of Joel because she believes her daughter.

Hope and the necklace aren't going to make any difference now that he has confessed to a relationship with her .
