Couldn't think of a witty title. Bit gutted re; Grace and Reuben.

OP posts:

If I followed that correctly some couples received more votes than others - Josh and Mimi received fewer than J and J and A and J so why are they being potentially voted out?!

I think he said anyone with votes could be voted out

Catlord · 26/07/2024 23:44

God that sports day was boring!!

Surprised at joey and Jessy voting for Sean and Matilda with no particular reason after their little friendship. not sure if that was a deliberately edgy move, or maybe they thought it might be a chance to undo some of the optics of rowing with Josh and Mimi so much by picking at least one white couple (but not convincing to pick c&N).

I think Sean read between the lines in that chat afterwards

With Mimi and Josh, I though they might pick Sean and Matilda but they seemed to go for revenge served cold!

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/07/2024 01:34

At the end of the show, he said the dumped islanders have a big decision to make. Idk what that means. Potentially they will be deciding which couple to send home, perhaps amongst those, who have received a vote.

I definitely think J and J didn’t want to vote for 2 black couples after their abysmal behaviour towards J and M; Josh in particular. I actually really dislike Jessy now. She’s tethered herself to someone whose behaviour is so frequently unacceptable but doesn’t call it out. She did in the beginning but hasn’t for some time. Inloved that the other Islanders have picked up on that.

It was quite funny watching the penny drop for Sean during that conversation with J and J after the vote. Sean really thinks he’s made a friend for life but Joey has just used him the way he uses everyone.

I don’t think it’s revenge for J and M. I don’t think A and J will last on the outside. She’s very needy and I find the way she interacts with Ayo v cringey - do you love me, have I got a husband - have some self respect! The constant reassurance will drive him mad particularly as he only says 3 words every 2 days. Mimi was steering it away from A and J to begin with so perhaps Josh had stronger feelings about it? Perhaps they have seen things we haven’t.

I don’t warm to Jess but I really liked the way that she had J and J sized up in the vote,

I do agree with PP that Ciaran definitely wants to win. It was interesting- and ironic - that C and N fell out over the vote. It doesn’t bode well for them.

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 27/07/2024 06:35

I have never seen competitiveness like I did with Nicole in the sports day!

Catlord · 27/07/2024 08:08

Agree, I like Jess but she and Ayo aren't right for each other. He will constantly leave her frustrated and she will prevent him from coming out of himself if she constantly overshoots with things like 'i have a husband now!'. She would be better with someone effusive like Reuben (although I think he wanted an opposite hence grace), and Ayo needs space to do all of his slow verbal gymnastics.

@Picoloangel that's fair plus Josh is just glad of the outcome but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a soupçon of middle finger involved for Mimi after the humiliation of CA

What happened with C and N, DP was talking over it? Did he try to vote tactically but she insisted they stick with the task of who is compatible?

Picoloangel · 27/07/2024 08:26

@Catlord I think you may be right re Mimi’s middle finger. I am blinded when it comes to Mimi!

It was v v difficult to hear C and N because they were whispering but what I kept picking up was that C was more inclined to vote for J and M but N wasn’t having it. It was hard to hear the reasons why because of the whispering but that’s what was causing them to disagree. In the end they didn’t go with J and M.

After the vote C and N seemed a bit shell shocked by the disagreement so N kept saying that it was totally normal to disagree about something like that. I think it was the way they disagreed rather than the disagreement which made me think things don’t bode well. I do tend to forget with all of them though that they are v v young.

Strathfan · 26/07/2024 15:44

Why dislike Joey? Hmm…where to start.

For me, he comes off as self obsessed, totally lacking in humility or empathy, he has no listening skills, he is only interested in how things relate to him, he is manipulative, unkind, bitchy and vengeful with a very fragile ego. He likes to dish it out for attention but can’t cope with any criticism of him.

Additionally, he comes off as a misogynistic, racist, ill informed sociopath.

HTH.

Absolutely
I actually can’t think of anything nice to say about him tbh. He is not even charming. Even sociopaths often exhibit some charm
Everyone and their dog knows that he was encouraged to apologise to Mimi by the producers.Joey only cares about Joey. Producer probably told him that his actions looked bad
The way he treated not only Josh/Mimi but also Grace was an absolute disgrace.
He is a nasty bully and his nastiness is rubbing off on Jessy
If anyone believes that he was sorry for his actions then I have a bridge to sell you
He will regret coming on the show

Picoloangel · 27/07/2024 09:47

@Lampzade And @Strathfan

Spot on.

Catlord · 27/07/2024 10:04

It's so odd with Jessy. We've seen so little of her thoughts apart from in direct reaction to Joey or maybe Grace (except her surprise stilt walking). I suppose her parents must see his behaviour but didn't want to blow a big opportunity for her hence having to say they like him etc but this can't be a clear picture of her.

AngryBird6122 · 27/07/2024 13:19

@Strathfan Yes! I remember the show Unreal. It always, always comes into my mind whenever I watch reality shows now.

Bustedpoon · 27/07/2024 14:51

Just catching up and that 25 euro necklace was hilarious. Im secretly hoping it was a homage to Goldie Looking Chain.

GOLDIE LOOKIN CHAIN - YOU KNOWS I LOVES YOU BABY

THIS IS A PROPER LOVE SONG BY GOLDIE LOOKIN CHAIN

fairydust11 · 27/07/2024 19:32

I personally think Joey & Jessy voted for Sean & Matilda purely for tactical reasons, Joey likes to act dumb, but he knows what he’s doing there.
He’s been in so many reality shows, he knows that himself & Jessy need Sean & Matilda to also be nominated as he knows if they’re up, they’ll probably go before him.

CheeseWisely · 27/07/2024 19:44

Late to the game again. Nothing and nobody in the history of Love Island has ever grafted harder than Matilda's bikini in that sack race Shock

A side note, I wouldn't be getting in the pool in that necklace Nicole. She'll have a neck like Shrek in the morning.

BlackStrayCat · 27/07/2024 22:03

Yes, second hand shorts and t shirts in one thing but bloody second hand bikinis and tacky strappy polyester dresses?

I now hate everyone but Jess (Ayo Jess)

Picoloangel · 27/07/2024 22:55

The clothes have been dire this year. I can’t believe that they are expected to share bikinis that is absolutely rank.

Picoloangel · 28/07/2024 06:44

@Bustedpoon that’s interesting. I was only saying to DP the other day that it appears to be in the middle of nowhere and this really shows how remote it is.

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/07/2024 07:59

@Bustedpoon thanks for posting that. It was rather interesting. Especially seeing the structures both attached to the villa as well as those further down the road. The logistics and sheer number of people working on site to ensure smooth operations is quite something.

Catlord · 28/07/2024 08:36

That's really interesting thanks! I didn't watch the whole thing but the remoteness is quite intimidating, both as in security and as in what do they do all day. Also the ops side is interesting, huge food stores, offices, presumably there's a medic there at all times

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/07/2024 08:41

Yes, there must be a medic at all times due to the remoteness. Probably more than this as they’d be used for both staff on site and islanders. I wonder if they avoid bringing large lorries in for the duration of the show. I imagine a lot of the food is kept on site and perhaps only fresh produce is brought in regularly.

CheeseWisely · 28/07/2024 09:00

I appreciate that it looks really remote in that video, but it's only a 20 minute drive from Manacor which is a decent size town (42,000 population).

There are a few smaller towns / villages closer than that too.

Dweetfidilove · 28/07/2024 14:48

The constant reassurance will drive him mad particularly as he only says 3 words every 2 days.
@Picoloangel 🤣🤣🤣

BlackStrayCat · 28/07/2024 17:46

God, I cant believe I defended Joey earler in the thread. Or Jessie.

think they are all (except Jess) terrible and in it "for the gram"

Won[t watch again. It is everything that is wrong with society in my view. (Officially an old lady now in my early 50s) will watch the end of this series, possibly. We all know who will win.

Loved the thread! Thank you all!
