Couldn't think of a witty title. Bit gutted re; Grace and Reuben.

That episode was good. So glad they haven't done the final dates this year.
Maybe controversial but I miss the baby task. Always found it funny.
I voted for Mimi and Josh. Interesting how they got no votes from the returning islanders (or maybe they got one, I can't remember!). They are obviously well liked and respected.
I expect Ciaran and Nicole to win. They are the best couple and have lasted from the start. I like Ciaran. I have not warmed to Nicole but I do not dislike her.
I am happy to see Joey go. Jesse seems nice but don't like Joey for her.

sweetpickle2 · 29/07/2024 11:14

I have been away on holiday and missed so many eps, had to follow using this thread and the Love Island IG account! But so glad last night was the first ep I've seen for ages- absolutely fantastic television.

Samantha is deeping it a bit I think (it was 2 weeks and they didn't even snog) but I feel like her getting tearful was more anger than sadness- I would get so frustrated trying to communicate with Joey it would probably drive me to tears as well.

I've voted for Mimii and Josh, but I suspect Ciaran and Nicole will win.

Jollylollylee · 29/07/2024 12:00

Yeah it was frustration no doubt and I think Samantha was also upset her love island experience was cut short. If she’d stayed in for a few more weeks I don’t think she’d have been quite so annoyed.

One half decent thing about Joey was that he never kissed her outside of challenges. Personally I think it would’ve worse if he did knowing he wasn’t into her at all. This should’ve been a sign he wasn’t into her but I think it was easier for her to believe his words - him saying they were one of the strongest couples. She probably also feels a little silly for not picking up on it.

But he is rewriting history by saying they were a friendship couple, when he actually told her they were just taking things slow. It was clear he can’t remember half of what he said to her anyway though!

hallyy · 29/07/2024 12:03

I wonder why they haven't done the final dates this year?

Agree to an extent re Sam but can understand why she's seething and still quite hurt. It's the way it's been handled.

If he'd said 'i picked Sam in good faith, she stood out to me, gave it a good go, then grace came along and there was instant chemistry' fair enough, that's not nice but it's a common enough story.

In dismissing it as a friendship all along the implicature is that she isn't serious love island material/ good enough and it was to be assumed that she was just a placeholder.

Exactly. He had the perfect get out clause in the fact that he already knew Grace and there was unfinished business. Have no idea why he thought pretending he'd made it clear they were a friendship couple made it look better for himself (we already know he doesn't give a shiny shite about protecting anybody else's feelings).

I haven't watched AfterSun yet but it sounds like Joey still didn't "get it" with regards to his behaviour/words.

A decent person (at this stage) would have let Samantha down gently and perhaps given some sort of token explanation/apology for unintentionally misleading her, was caught up in the first excitement of being in the villa in a couple etc etc - or something along those lines even if he didn't mean it! Why be so cruel and mean-spirited to her and (as a result of his association with Grace) to Reuben? He does appear to be lacking in empathy or 'normal' social manners. Jessy would be wise to be wary of a future with him - if something doesn't go his way, he'll drop her, blame her for making him do it and then blank her.

As for who should win, for me it would be Jess/Ayo or Mimii/Josh. But I doubt it will be J/A. There could be a transfer of votes to Mimii/Josh if they get to last 2/3. So that could upset the Nicole/Ciaran apple cart! 😄

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 29/07/2024 13:56

Ayo doesn't deserve it, since he chose Jess over Mimi altho in the first few days of being with Jess his face really lit up, it never had done previously with Mimi. So ok he had made the right choice.
But, he took his brother's comment to heart, he also led Mimi on for quite some time and during one conversation in the last week he actually said he thought he could keep on getting to know both girls after having chosen Jess.
I feel if he had stayed with Mimi they would have won.

Mimi doesn't deserve it either after all that silly secret mission. If Ayo had ever picked her at any further recouplings she would have been there like a shot !

Sean doesn't deserve it, he is not a nice person. He came across nice in the beginning and prob had sympathy from viewers as it took him so long to get a lady. And thinking Joey was his best friend let him down badly, I suppose I could put it down to age / being impressed by a ' famous ' person being in there...

Nicole will give Ciaran the life of hell, she is so insecure. He will never be allowed out without her and if he ever does go out it will be 101 questions and constant texts/phone calls.

I like Ciaran but I think he knows he could/should/would win and has known for weeks as they were the only proper couple in there for a long long time and kept his eye on the prize for weeks hence putting up with her.
When he does end the relationship with her, I hope there is a lot of support offered to her by the producers.

So I guess i don't actually want any couple to win.
Shame we can't have a last minute vote for our favourite people, and Jess and Josh could win.

or the TV company to fiddle/fix the votes and announce 4 joint 1st place winners.

CellophaneFlower · 29/07/2024 14:58

When he does end the relationship with her, I hope there is a lot of support offered to her by the producers.

IF he ends the relationship, I don't really see it's on ITV to provide any extra support than they normally provide, She's a grown woman who chose to go on TV to find love and win a bit of cash. Ciaran has been respectful and she's had a pretty easy ride in there. If her previous hang ups result in their relationship ending, I can't see how this is any fault of ITV.

MooonDreamz · 29/07/2024 15:41

I don't know who to vote for as I don't really like any of them that much although I don't dislike any of them either!

I don't really want to vote for C&N but don't want to vote for Ayo or Mimi or Shaun and Matilda

i might go for Ayo and Jess

MooonDreamz · 29/07/2024 15:43

Joey was quite unkind and dismissive of Samantha. She came in clearly still with a chip on her shoulder though. She should have played it cool. I hope Jessie realises he's not a nice guy. The thing was Shaun was bad too but then Shaun got rid of someone who liked Matilda I think! Can't remember his name

MooonDreamz · 29/07/2024 15:43

I like the start of this Aftersun even if a bit cheesy!

Onceiwassevenyearsold · 29/07/2024 17:40

is it tonight?? What time?

honeyrider · 29/07/2024 17:45

Just catching up on last night's show - Joey wasn't happy to have been dumped 😂

Picoloangel · 29/07/2024 18:31

I can’t vote for Ayo and Jess. I still remember how insensitive they were when Mimi came back alone. I didn’t like that Jess was all over Ayo whilst simultaneously trying to be BFFs with Mimi. After that, Ayo was still leading Mimi on and I’m not convinced even now that he doesn’t still like her.

Jess- she’s OK but I find her loud at times and her neediness is really grating. I do understand though that Ayo has created some of that. They may yet surprise me but I don’t think they’ll last.

I still defend Mimi over the terrace debacle because I feel that she bought in to the star crossed lovers narrative that she was being fed particularly by Nicole. Ayo was also really leading her on at that point. I think she was v embarrassed afterwards and realised that she liked Josh so wanted to forget all about it. Whilst I accept she would have likely kissed Ayo if he’d wanted to, I think she quickly moved on. I do believe that she genuinely likes Josh now and I feel they are much more likely to last than the other couples.

Nicole will quickly unravel on the outside when real life starts to impact on her trust issues. Cieran is too young (sorry Ciaran) to be dealing with all that baggage.

Sean and Matilda. No.

MooonDreamz · 29/07/2024 18:39

You've reminded me re Ayo and Jess

I still don't like how Mimi went about things and then was a bit dishonest about ut

Not Shaun and Matilda

I don't like Nicole enough to vote for them

I probably won't vote!

CellophaneFlower · 29/07/2024 19:12

I don't care who wins. As long as Sean comes last.

Jollylollylee · 29/07/2024 19:23

I agree, I don’t mind them as a couple but I found that situation so weird. And Ayo had the nerve to say to Mimi he found it hard when Josh came in. They both became less self-absorbed though as the weeks went on.

I think I’ll be voting for Ciaran, I don’t know how genuine him and Nicole are but I like how he’s stood on business the whole way through. Like he was one of the few or only ones who called out Sean on his sneakiness towards Omar early on.

But at the same time I want Sean in at fourth so if everyone is voting for Ciaran I may give Mimi my vote. Not that my one vote is going to make all the difference 😆

Picoloangel · 29/07/2024 19:30

I think Ciaran (England match aside) has done everything right. I like him a lot. I just like Jomi more.

You’ve convinced me. I couldn’t decide between Jess and Ayo or Mimii and Josh. I’ve just voted for the latter.

BellesAndGraces · 29/07/2024 20:24

Convinced me too, I’ve voted for Mimii and Josh 😂

Picoloangel · 29/07/2024 20:36

The responsibility @Mummyoflittledragon and @BellesAndGraces 😱

Me for PM? 2028?

Catlord · 29/07/2024 20:37

Ciaran and Nicole for me. If it hadn't been. For Secret Mission and the run up it would probably have been Jomi. Josh is my favourite

HelpMebeok · 29/07/2024 21:06

What's with the filtered screen? They look all blurry

Littleguggi · 29/07/2024 21:06

They all look so different! Have they had makeovers?!
