Couldn't think of a witty title. Bit gutted re; Grace and Reuben.

Just watched aftersun (first one I have watched all series) and it was so evident that joey only smiled / had his face lit up when he was on camera.. apart from he got it wrong and he was on camera quite a few times when he didn't realise.

I think he's a bit like Ekin sue (but to a greater extent) as in . He has no idea who he actually is anymore as he has spent the last x amount of years living life on reality shows all with their own agenda and having to project different personas to an audience.

If him and jessy stay together, then like a lot of these couples -the general public will never know if they are actually happy or is it just a front.

Anyway I quite enjoyed aftersun

Just saw love island US starts on Monday. Feel like I need a breather from it l but have actually heard good things about the US one (particularly this series) .Anyone else going to watch?

I don't want any of the final four to win. They can all come joint fourth for me. It's been so boring and inevitable that I won't bother with the final

You've come this far- seems a bit odd to quit right at the end?!

CellophaneFlower · 28/07/2024 23:11

How telling it was when Joey told Sean his reason for voting for him. He thinks it's absolutely fine to throw his mate under the bus in a bid to save himself. Like it's OK Sean, don't worry, it wasn't personal, I just wanted to make sure it was you rather than me, that's all 🙄 Honestly, the audacity of that bloke knows no bounds. Sean still didn't have the balls to call him out properly about it though.

It made me chuckle a bit that a PP said Samantha might try and be the bigger person. The minute she sat down she was smirking, she couldn't wait to say his name 🤣

I'd forgotten all about Munveer and Patsy... seems a lifetime ago that they were in there. The remaining islanders must feel like they've been in there for years!

Did I miss a bit when Ciaran was explaining why he had to choose his best mate? He said joey and jessy were easy, then it came down to mimi and josh or ayo and jess. I'm sure he didn't mention matilda and Sean? Obviously I'm guessing Nicole wouldn't want to choose Matilda, so decision made. Think he'll be having a lot of his decisions made for him in the future.

PerfectYear321 · 28/07/2024 23:11

I voted Josh and Mimi.
Nicole and Ciaran are obviously the strongest couple and so I suppose should win (and will). So I'm voting for who I want to come second as I want Sean to come last, and M&J deserve to come above J&A

fairydust11 · 28/07/2024 23:28

@Jollylollylee yes I noticed the missing islanders too, I thought everyone that had been in the main villa would be there, the guy who came in a few days before Casa and coupled up with Jess is another one. I can’t even remember his name!

Raspberry99 · 28/07/2024 23:28

I wonder if they will do those cringy speeches dressed in suits tomorrow night.

Oh yeah I know who you mean but I can’t remember his name either 😆

Rainbow163 · 28/07/2024 23:32

Oh yes, that was Trey

Jollylollylee · 28/07/2024 23:32

Rainbow163 · 28/07/2024 22:54

Oh yeah, also Tiffany and most of the boys from Casa were not there. I think only Hugo from Casa was there.

Ah that’s right - Tiffany too!

Rainbow163 · 28/07/2024 23:33

He is apparently dating AJ Pritchard's ex girlfriend

Picoloangel · 28/07/2024 23:40

A good nights work by the ex islanders! Joey was disgusting to Reuben. I hope it’s the last we see of Joey and with any luck he will fade back into obscurity and he will be better for it. I just don’t think the public eye is for him. He has no idea how to behave.

Sammy879 · 28/07/2024 23:40

Also Lola and Harry were not there but I suppose they weren’t on the show for very long

Longer than Sam 🤣 Proper dig Joey had at him about that too. I've noticed sometimes he says such nasty things but his face doesn't match what he's saying, almost as though he thinks if his face remains neutral/innocent he can get away with the spiteful jibes.

I always quit before the final. Honestly couldn’t give a shit by that point! In fact, the point where they all start “becoming exclusive” and squealing about being boyfriend and girlfriend is the point where I feel manipulated that’s it’s all about winning a prize and not about finding love.

  • yes I know it’s been manipulated from the start but I have plausible deniability until the last week or two!
HeddaGarbled · 29/07/2024 00:04

That was a great episode - maybe the best I’ve ever seen. It was like the denouement in one of those revenge novels. Immensely satisfying. Though I did feel sorry for Samantha. Her hands were shaking when she sat down. Still, she had her say, and presumably, her preferred result.

It can only be an anti-climax from now on.

BigPussyEnergy · 29/07/2024 01:06

Yeah I felt sorry for Samantha, Joey really is a tosser. She was obviously looking forward to getting her revenge on him and then he’s was so dismissive of her that he “couldn’t even remember” what he’d said to her. Heartless twat.

Sammy879 · 29/07/2024 01:22

Joey may have received training before he entered the Love Island villa – with ITV ensuring contestants ‘complete video training and guidance across a range of topics to include mutually respectful behaviour in relationships, behaviour patterns associated with controlling and coercive behaviour and language around disability, sexuality, race and ethnicity, and microaggressions before they meet their fellow Islanders’ – but it feels like he’s made a misstep every step of the way so far.

saw this on Metro.com

YabaJaba · 29/07/2024 08:20

What did Samantha say to Joey?

oberst · 29/07/2024 09:04

Samantha was pretty awful if I'm honest. Very bitter. They only knew each other two weeks. She's obsessed with him; that was obvious.

Soditsally · 29/07/2024 09:09

@YabaJaba
She said something along the lines of he had lied to her for 2 weeks , denied it was anything but a friendship couple and really minimised her feelings
With some Joey yada yada

I'm looking forward to the US one!

Catlord · 29/07/2024 09:53

I don't know who to vote for. Might spoil my ballot.

Individuals, Josh, Ciaran, Matilda but I don't like their partners as much!!

I've warmed to Mimi and she's clearly a good friend but can't fully get behind a straight faced liar even if it did all work out in the end. It's just not my style to tell a porky for now to keep things as I want them and hope everything moves on in my favour

Sean, no way. His behaviour was bullying and sycophantic, casa was sleazy, but it was a bit heartbreaking to see his chat with, I think, Ayo about sticking by Joey even when not sure it was the right thing to do. I think if we had another weekor so we could see a genuine redemption from Sean but he's spoiled his own chances

Just not a huge Nicole fan. Aside from the insecurity. I think she's ok but not perfect but I just don't feel we've got much further than surface level with her.

I like Jess but she and Ayo I think deserve fourth place, I think they're not quite right for each other in an obvious way. Even if the others have their flaws as humans, they show more potential as couples

Not sure whether Jessy's feelings are real or she has her eye money or media success but she worries me supporting someone whose behaviour is that erratic as it will be her who is alienated. It was an absolutely cracking episode. The whole nation was thinking what the contestants were saying. Very interesting to see Joey's responses, on the spot which is one thing and later on After sun. Very strange relationship with the truth and accountability. No empathy either. Anyone else would have taken Sam or Samantha's input on the chin, understanding they were young people who had been left disappointed for one reason or another related of him (whether or not his fault). Not kept making digs at them to try and get the last word.

Ronnie's choice was interesting. He must really not like Sean now. He'd have supported Matilda otherwise

YabaJaba · 29/07/2024 10:01

@Soditsally thanks, the phone had rung so I missed it!

MargoLivebetter · 29/07/2024 10:06

Before all of the Joey antics unrolled fully, I felt sure that Samantha had been played, not just by Joey but by the producers too. I felt sure that Joey knew that Grace was coming in, absolutely 100% sure of it and he was just playing Samantha until that happened. Obviously, I'm not a soothsayer and don't have a crystal ball, but that is how it felt to me! He was so dismissive of her in that last episode, I could see how that would sting and she would feel bitter. I hope she moves on and lets go.

God only knows how Reuben kept his cool. Hats off to him for that.

Not surprised at Sean's turnaround. I think he is a weak person. He's like that kid at school who gets some kudos from not being kicked by the bully, so he thinks that they are friends!

I thought Ayo and Jess maintained huge dignity under quite considerable pressure. I really do like Jess. She has a self contained sense of happiness and well-being that is nice to see.

I can't believe Ciaran and Nicole won't win, so not altogether sure I can handle watching the tediousness of the final. Might have it on in the background.

HeddaGarbled · 29/07/2024 10:16

Samantha said if he’d told her it was a friendship couple at the time she could have explored connections with other people.

Catlord · 29/07/2024 10:19

I think partly Sean was trying to claw it back with the others without Joey's protection by becoming the nice guy again, but I sensed he'd learnt a genuine lesson from the experience. I was glad producers let him and Joey have a chat so Sean could see how cynical Joey's reasons were
