Starting a new SCD thread for chat prior to the series as the last is about to fill.

These threads are usually helmed by @PolkadotsAndMoonbeams and I normally deputise, but I haven't seen her around in a while

This thread will discuss who has been chosen for the show, but not who has been paired with who as that's a spoiler for the first show.

I’d love them to air the nostalgia episodes on a Sunday night instead of the results show, which should be aired live.

Aired live and 15 minutes long!

After casualty results show Saturday night done 😀 Xfactor started the Sunday results didn't they ?

Yep! Thanks Simon! So now we have an hour of any old bollocks instead!

There isn’t enough decent content for two shows. Cut all the dead nan shenanigans and the music performance from the Sunday and you could fit it all into one show.

I can’t think of any reason why viewers would prefer to keep the Sunday night nonsense other than a results segment at 9-10pm on the Saturday would be difficult for young children who need their beds. But it could be recorded for them to watch first thing on Sunday if necessary, or they could watch via the app when they wake up.

I never watch the results live, too much filler! Just watch the group dance, maybe the musical guest then the judges decision.
They've got to take some measures as well as the chaperone thing surely? Some guidance in good teaching practice and limits on number of hours of training?

I don't mind the results show on a Sunday and watch it even though I always get the spoiler. However, it would be much improved if the pro dance was ballroom or latin and not just general titting around, if the musical artiste of the week was forced to sing a greatest hit instead of promoting an awful new single, and if some of the filler time was used up by a pro couple doing a proper demo dance, as in the days of Flavia and Vincent doing an Argentine tango or Anton and Erin doing a Viennese waltz.

I guess nowadays they could also improve it by conducting the goodbye interview while the celeb and pro are connected to Jeremy Kyle's polygraph machine with a giant red siren that flashes on if 'You're the most special person I've ever met and I can't believe I'm not going to see your smiling face every day' turns out to be a great big fib.

I think it's probably one of those situations where it's cheap TV for them to fill a chunk of Sunday evening with footage filmed as live the night before, rather than broadcast live twice on the Saturday evening.
I also think they see that it has decent viewing figures so assume that means people watch it and are happy to 😫
The reality of anyone I know is they either watch it as there's nothing else on, or they don't watch it at all.

I personally don't watch the Sunday one at all. I have it on record, and if there's a guest I like or if it's eg Remembrance Day, I'll watch the pro dance.

They were talking about JJ on this morning Vanessa feltz said he was fine patient and talented and that they were filmed every training sessions, Alison Hammond said her and Alijaz, were only filmed every few days, so a bit of a difference over the years.

We record both shows and I fast forward through any nonsense training videos..
On the Sunday we only watch the actual voting of who is going then the dance off.

A Catherine Cookson coal miner and a Bond Girl; it was a clash of universes destined never to work. Now Amy or Lauren would both make excellent Catherine Cookson heroines. I can see Amy taking a stand against the brutal heir to the local pit until he realises the value of a good woman and stops using cheap rotten wood as pit-props. Lauren I can see more being selected from the workhouse to train up as a lady's maid at the local manor, fending off the advances of the dissolute squire, and squirreling away enough farthings to open her own haberdashery with Jim, the quiet but manly head groom.

It's been such a weird year.

Amanda being allegedly maltreated. Gio complainants.
Bobby Windsor's death. Shout out for any other complainants.
Zara being maltreated. Two pros let go.
Bring back Aljaz. Kai and Nadiya split. Gio and Jowita much earlier split.
Graziano now digging trenches on a farm actually working on the family vineyard where he was already on holiday

Ooh I didn't know about the rerun of Series 1 Ep1! That should be fun. I don't know why they don't keep old series up on iPlayer like they do for other shows, I'm tired of having to watch grainy old footage on YouTube!

I was just reading it. One of the comments is probably aimed at minimising it - Mr Borkowski said Di Prima did not clearly remember the incident, but did not deny there was a kick and the spokesperson accepted that he had "crossed the line".

However, to me, it seems incredibly concerning to kick someone in your workplace but not clearly remember the incident....

WTF? I cannot keep up with all the allegations against the male pros. Seems to be a deep problem with the Strictly culture, which makes me sad as an obsessed fan.
