Did I get this right. Did that criminal genius kingpin in the Biggleswade crew who proclaimed himself an educated GENIUS who was unimpeachable to the Feds (Feds. FFS) actually take payments from his drug punters by traceable bank transfers to him / gang rather than in cash?

Yep..silly little boys playing gangsters.

Sidebeforeself · 04/12/2024 10:42

Although I dont think the two stories were connected..I dont think she was buying drugs from his gang.

They put Tyrone away because of the bank account evidence from Sacha.

Maybe you need to rewatch

Sidebeforeself · 04/12/2024 10:50

@n3f5 That came across as a bit snide! I did say I wasn’t sure!

Lalgarh · 04/12/2024 11:27

County Lines gangs are just horrendous. One of the Detectives basically said that this guy had set up in Biggleswade bcz it was small and he knew he could control the market and operate under the delusion they were Al Capone in that small town, whereas if they were trying that in Luton just down the road they'd all have been shot by now.

Not snidey. It's a massive part of the storyline that you've missed

The bank transfers from the woman actually had the initials 'TY' )the name of the main dealer). None of them very bright.

Hels20 · 04/12/2024 13:36

I know - the TY initials were so stupid!! None of them came across as particularly bright.

good that the woman confessed after initially claiming the drugs were for a friend. I could see how it happened. I wonder if she had actually stopped to think how much money she had stolen? Temptation was there and she couldn’t resist….

As for the solicitor - awful man. Lifestyle funded by drugs.

DancingTurtle · 04/12/2024 15:15

Drugs and misery and heartbreak.
And tax payers, as it’s now us funding the uncle’s care for the rest of his life.

The solicitor is like a modern day Dickens character, defending the indefensible and making shed loads of (visible) money out of it.

And the money to fund that monster car came from.... the proceeds of crime ... and in this case directly traceable back through the supply chain to Alan's bank account. It's a pity the police are not able to retrieve the proceeds of crime to this extent to put that right

n3f5 · 04/12/2024 17:25

As much as I disliked that lawyer, every defence lawyer in the land makes money from crime!

Part of the problem with our justice system is there isn't any money in criminal law - either as a prosecutor or defence. Take a look at The Secret Barrister books.
There's no money in criminal law so few graduates enter it. And those that do often give very poor service. The innocent have been bankrupted trying to defend themselves because legal aid has all but vanished and even if you win a case more often than not you won't get costs.
It's a scandal that effectively only the well heeled can get a fair hearing. And in this case lawyers who smell roses when everybody else smells shit.

Yes I was waiting to see what sentence she got - but it just said she had pleaded guilty. Despicable woman. Poor old guy can't even buy himself a new armchair.

I felt really sorry for him. He said "As long as I get the money back." But they'd said he wouldn't get it back. I hope someone buys him a new chair.

That solicitor!! 🙄That he wanted to appear in the programme says a lot.
It's difficult for solicitors to do a good job for a decent wage when doing criminal work these days. So justice - such as it is - is only available to the well-heeled drug dealers.
Sadly no 'after' picture of Tyrone. Getting in the cops face over being rude to his mum to try put him off his stride. And shouting about how better educated he is while on the floor in cuffs. We needed a smug shot to mug shot 😄

Yes and the solicitor joining in saying "Were you rude to his mum?" to suck up to his client. So professional!

It's a brilliant programme and so fascinating to watch how the investigations develop. Also sad to see the outcomes of the crimes. To Catch a Killer is also good.

Yes the episode with the guy who faked a relationship with the elderly English professor and killed him and the retired headmistress for money was very moving. The video of the professor when he'd been drugged thinking he was losing his mind was distressing

Made into the drama the Sixth Commandment with Timothy Spall

I wonder if he would be able to claim the money back through his bank as she'd been convicted of fraud? They must have noticed suspicious or unusual spending transactions.

There's a new scam where people's HOMES can be stolen via identity fraud if they are working away from home , and apparently there is no formal redress, only compensation from the land registry. Banks barely now pay compy for id fraud so it may be unlikely

FrenchandSaunders · 05/12/2024 20:11

Sacha got a 2 year suspended sentence 😳

Hels20 · 05/12/2024 20:41

@FrenchandSaunders - how do you know what Sacha got?

FrenchandSaunders · 05/12/2024 21:04

I watched this tonight and googled her. It’s on BBC news.

Hels20 · 05/12/2024 21:12

BBC are now reporting. And it shows the story has only been up for 7 hours.

Yes I thought that was hilarious that the cop was so dead pan about it.

I remember a police officer telling me that a number of years ago the gang violence had died down in an area of Luton. When I asked why, he said because all the adult males had been shot and 2 in prison and so they were waiting for the younger generation to get weapons and start it all over again. That seemed so sad - and such a waste.

Bit disappointed though how the producers tried to make out Megan had been killed by not showing her until the end.

Plus naming it "Murder Messages."

Yes they did seem to suggest she was dead by just showing her mother and her in photos. Strange choice. I assume they expect no one to complain as surely it's great she is alive and well? But I was expecting her death to be mentioned all the way to the end.
