This will be my 12th Doctor. I’m a big Doctor Who fan. Happy memories of Sat with my dad watching cyber men and darleks.
But what the hell has happened? I’ve just finished, well I managed 25 mins, before I couldn’t take it anymore the 1st episode with the new Doctor and sidekick. Awful acting with a ludicrous plot (yes I know it’s fantasy) but it’s never been this stupid. Can’t help but think the BBC aren’t bothered and think they can put out anything and we’ll watch. Russell T Davies should have his pens taken off him and spare us anymore pain.

I can’t be the only Doctor Who fan who thinks like this. Absolutely Gutted 😞

That’s Thursday night viewing sorted. Anyone know what time?
im going to the pictures to watch finale.

It's 8pm on BBC4.

Ah I wanted to see it at the cinema but no way my kids would agree to me going without them, but also no chance they could stay awake that late 😅

Rummikub · 19/06/2024 15:14

Oo thank you!

I read it on here and did think about not going but figured it’d be good to see it in the big screen. Though I usually watch with subtitles!
im either expecting a full
cinema or just me.

Damn this thread! All that talk of past Doctors has me watching the 2005 revamp onwards.

I am 2 episodes into Christopher Ecclestone and it's making me mad how much more I am enjoying them.

I feel like 'the old folks' when I was growing up that used to harp on about programmes from their day. Grin

Haha I’m properly old… Tom Baker was my first doctor in the Seventies! 😂

beguilingeyes · 20/06/2024 05:55

Ecclestone was wonderful and what a revelation Billie Piper was. We thought RTD was nuts for casting some ex-pop starlet. She was phenomenal.

KomproMatilda · 20/06/2024 09:31

Are Bad Wolf / Disney able to monetise all the millions of viewings this week of the Pyramids of Mars episodes?

I watched them last night (had forgotten what a compelling presence the Fourth Doctor was, and what a brilliant companion Sarah Jane Smith was) on iPlayer - so presumably no one profits beyond my TV licence fee? How do people access those episodes across the world?

Rummikub · 20/06/2024 19:33

Anyone else watching at 8?
the intro on TV guide sounds good.

Which doctor will it be? I might give it a go

Don't worry, it's not just the 'old' people who prefer the past doctor who

Ds and dd made me switch off an episode of the new series so they can rewatch from 2005 onwards.

They wandered off during the new series and said it was boring, but were still on the edge of their seats again for older episodes (order of preference seems to be Smith - Tennant - Ecclestone and Capaldi)

KomproMatilda · 20/06/2024 20:06

Watching!

I’m glad he’s just used the word ‘looting’. I was pretty cross yesterday at the start of Pyramids.

It’s Tom baker and Sarah Jane.

im loving it already

KomproMatilda · 20/06/2024 20:10

But is it just going to be a repetition of the Pyramids episodes, or will there be some 15 + Ruby chat later on?

Rummikub · 20/06/2024 20:37

I presume so.

Im liking the technical references.

JewelleryCat · 20/06/2024 21:16

It wasn’t too bad

Rummikub · 20/06/2024 21:21

Set the scene nicely.
The beast- but how did Ruby’s mum know that.
And he who waits

KomproMatilda · 21/06/2024 15:36

Not long now!

Counting down the hours until midnight …

QueenOfTheEntireFuckingUniverse · 21/06/2024 15:54

I'm so tired, not sure how I'm going to stay awake at the cinema!

Rummikub · 21/06/2024 18:20

Just thinking i must have coffee

KomproMatilda · 21/06/2024 18:41

I’ve started reading The Way Through the Woods to pass the time. (For some reason I’d always assumed the Doctor Who novels were for children. Have found this one on a nibling’s bookshelf.)

"The beast" is another term for satan in some Christian writings - so I assumed she was referring to that. (Eg 666 as "the mark of the beast")

GardenMusings · 21/06/2024 23:02

so anyone watching tonight at midnight?? Is there a watch along thread??

KomproMatilda · 21/06/2024 23:19

I’ll be posting here if I have anything non-spoilery to say …

GardenMusings · 21/06/2024 23:28

I'm up for a live spoilery thread but don't want to start one if there already is one!!

SheilaFentiman · 21/06/2024 23:57

Have stayed awake!
