On for 6w on Sunday at 9pm

This thread is tv paced !!!!

This brand-new six-part thriller, starring Jing Lusi and Richard Armitage, promises nerve-wracking plot twists, heart-stopping performances, and a compelling narrative that spans continents. Set to premiere on ITV1 and ITVX on the 21st of April, here's why Red Eye should be at the top of your must-watch list...

Red Eye kicks off with an adrenaline-fuelled opening that sets the tone for the rest of the series. Dr. Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage), after a near-death experience in Beijing, finds himself entangled in a web of accusations upon his return to London.

Arrested for a murder he insists he didn't commit, Nolan's life spirals into chaos.

The plot thickens when DC Hana Li (Jing Lusi), tasked with escorting Nolan back to China, discovers a murder on their flight, unraveling a series of events that suggest a deeper, more sinister plot at play.

One of Red Eye's most compelling features is its unpredictability. With a storyline that introduces twist after twist, viewers are kept on the edge of their seats, guessing what could possibly happen next.

Each episode peels back layers of intrigue, revealing geopolitical tensions and sinister forces that suggest no one can be trusted.

The series boasts an array of famous faces, delivering strong performances that bring depth and complexity to their roles.

Jing Lusi's portrayal of DC Hana Li is both compelling and nuanced, presenting a character whose determination and grit are matched only by the mysteries she faces.

Richard Armitage's Dr. Matthew Nolan is equally captivating, offering a glimpse into the psyche of a man fighting to clear his name while navigating a labyrinth of lies and deception.

Red Eye is both pacy and frenetic, mirroring the urgency and danger that the characters face, and this rapid tempo ensures that there's never a dull moment, with each episode drawing the viewer deeper into the unfolding conspiracy.

Helping to further bolster the series are its high production values and striking visuals – the international setting of the series, spanning from the bustling streets of Beijing to the imposing presence of London's Heathrow Airport, provides a rich backdrop for the narrative.

Even though they were only research, wouldn’t they have known cpr anyway? Don’t all doctors go through medical school before they do their speciality eg medicine/research etc

Might have been PHd docs rather than medical doctors (my OH is, and never uses doctor on plane tickets for that reason!)

Lovemycat2023 · 22/04/2024 18:28

Also wondered doesn’t China have the death penalty? We don’t extradite to those countries (without the right assurances being made). I know it’s dramatic licence but all seemed a bit rushed! I’m a big RA fan from North and South times so always enjoy watching him!

I guess following protocol to make an emergency landing to offliad the dead passenger would spoil the plot line too!

They may that tbh

So far I've only seen e1 and this is tv pace

So e2 they may decide to land

Tho they prob think they can't do anything so he's dead so May as well wait till land ?

Or isn't that what they do on planes when have dead bodies ?

@martinisforeveryone air hostess saw the lady. She had back to trolley but looking in the mirror so knew it had been swapped

hana li was annoying, talking about white privilege, and also believing him guilty so adamently

Piggywaspushed · 22/04/2024 18:47

I imagine the doggy was a support dog. That's A Thing.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 22/04/2024 19:13

Read in the review in the paper that the whole thing takes place on the plane. Obviously with offshoots to Lesley Sharp et al.

It’s going to be a loooong flight.

JewelleryCat · 22/04/2024 19:23

RA’s character is going to get pretty drunk if he keeps swigging those G&Ts and not eat anything lol

Edinvillian · 22/04/2024 19:32

Binged 5 episodes last night and one in my lunch hour today. No spoilers but I really enjoyed it.

Bigbadmama · 22/04/2024 19:34

I was on a flight out of Boston USA to Dublin and someone died about 2 hours out. The cabin crew cleared a row of seats at the back of the plane and put his body there. (
The plane turned round and we all went back to Boston where he and his distraught wife were both taken off the aircraft. They were both US Citizens, so I assume it was the logical thing to do rather than make an emergency landing in Newfoundland.

Support dogs are allowed on flights ?

As I'm in the plane. Not in cages below like the other dogs

Yes, and other animals too!

Although, having researched, this is very limited in the UK.

diddl · 22/04/2024 22:21

It's ludicrous.

I ove it!

JewelleryCat · 22/04/2024 22:29

From my understanding, emotional support animals aren’t legal in uk airports and more American and only ones like guide dogs are legal in the uk but happy to be told otherwise

GoldenTrout · 22/04/2024 22:50

martinisforeveryone · 21/04/2024 23:01

I’m not convinced by Lesley Sharp’s performance so far and I don’t think her part’s well written, which obviously doesn’t help. Didn’t buy into her relationship with the American.

Am worried about the guy who was bundled into the white van in the car park.

She was only on for about 4 minutes, it's a bit early to start forming judgments.

GoldenTrout · 22/04/2024 22:53

FlyingFlamingo · 21/04/2024 22:03

I agree…totally unbelievable. Why aren’t they diverting the plane? Surely when there’s a dead body on board airlines don’t just carry on their merry way?
No lawyer either?

Any Cabin Pressure listeners on here? According to that they might well carry on once the person was dead - the situation is no longer urgent at that point. Admittedly, in Cabin Pressure the theory was that the deceased would rather carry on because he was going back to his home country, which probably doesn't apply in this case...

What kind of animals ?

It’s true, there really are lots of dramatic licence issues.

No rights for a British citizen, extremely hostile handling and yet put in the care of just one young detective.

I looked away for a moment and missed the air crew’s bag swap, but DH told me. Amazing how lax the security is, that and the baggage handler disappearing, but no follow up. I didn’t think the vegan meal was sealed at all. No tinfoil or lid over the tray and yet they passed it across once it’d been served. As PP said, took quite a while for the penny to drop.

The recap says how suspicious it was that Nolan returned a day early and yet his four colleagues were on the same flight.

I’m intrigued though, so still in for now.

I think the four doctors came on the next day's flight, while our man was being held at Heathrow. Then they were still onboard when he was brought on. So he had been held all that time.

GoldenTrout · 22/04/2024 23:46

How does an unknown person manage to get themselves intentionally locked in the hold without anyone questioning it.

I was wondering about the temperature. I thought they didn't heat the olds of aircraft? Haven't there been reports of stowaways dying that way?

Special meals must be ordered waaaay in advance. No way would they have gluten free and vegan meals prepared for the unexpected passengers.

Ah, but poisoned special meals are different.

I don't understand why they would have needed to swap it if air hostess was in on the plot? Surely they could just have given it to her before she left for the airport?

Piggywaspushed · 23/04/2024 06:52

butterpuffed · 22/04/2024 22:55

What kind of animals ?

Depends on airline. Mainly support dogs but TUI also allows cats. Some US airlines allow other animals too.

martinisforeveryone · 23/04/2024 08:12

I’m going to have to go back and watch it again I think, get the timeline straight. I just hadn’t got that he came back the day before his colleagues 🙇🏼‍♀️

What I am finding is that I’ve been watching too much stuff with violence and high tension and I don’t think it’s suiting me. I had to look away last night from Blue Lights, particularly the marching scene. Might catch up on something less challenging like the English paradise one, or something less challenging, give my brain a break.

diddl · 23/04/2024 11:04

So is RA a baddy or not?

Can't help thinking he'll be involved somehow.

Pilot & stewardess also involved?

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/04/2024 12:16

Don't know @martinisforeveryone but I got from watching it that air hostess knew it had been swapped as left it behind her and then stood infront of mirror
