Fluffy. Same here. I’d have been ok with any of them winning

Just watched it. All 3 were really good and most importantly seemed like nice people. I agree re Ella’s eye being bit wonky and Conner oversharing by admitting messy work station. I was rooting for ella but happy with the result.

Did I imagine it or did they use to have the industry people say if interested in working with them after the master class. Not quite job offers but close enough. I suppose that puts industry people on the spot too much now.

I can recall at least a couple of occasions where there were virtual job offers. I know I always thought that to get offered a chance to actually work in the industry - even if it was a short-term contract - would be infinitely better than actually winning! That's your real big chance.

I don't think any of this lot have got what it takes TBH.

I'm happy with the winner but still think the talent was very poor this year. Lots i6f comments on the Glow Up Instagram page saying the same.
I might rewatch the previous series again.

I have just finished and felt that it was all very boring and each challenge was basically the same just face painting with GCSE art 'mood boards'.
It all just gets a bit boring oh wow a rainbow face with horns 🥴

Surly those looks are a niche part of the MUA sector and largely popular on social media but never needed for actual paid work, whereas actually being an MUA is much broader and about day to day makeup for marketing, weddings , tv touch ups, fashion etc.

I am sure many contestants have better skills in standard makeup and they lose out, I think it needs to be more realistic and broad, like doing an IRL bridal makeup and taking the clients satisfaction in the results into account.

Also the end format totally doesn't work and the fact Jess got so far despite every look being considerably sub par is testament to that.
It should just be judged on their challenges the face off nonsense could just be for all of them like the way the pottery challenge has that extra little bit that doesn't really contribute to the end outcome but just demonstrates skill.

I thought it was very funny when Connor announced he was gay and everyone cheered then other people joined in, wow you are joking gay people in the makeup and beauty industry you say - ground breaking 💅🏼

Randomly posting on this thread as we’ve been rewatching the first series and it’s a shocker how downhill it’s gone as a format. Stacey Dooley is a favourite in our house and I know she isn’t for everyone but she actually presents and engages so well with the contestants. Leomie is virtually silent. The challenges involve actual beauty editors and trained MUAs, and not a parade of social media types. In fact a criticism of Val’s early one is that one effort ‘looks very You Tube’. And the final challenges are already on the face paint side but not endless bald caps and white face coverings. The contestants all have a bit of a personal story that comes out in their work but they don’t go on about them quite as much. Basically way more watchable.

CalamititousJoan. I agree with your opinion. Most look like very good kids’ face painters. Leomie is drop dead stunning but as a host is beyond bland and unengaging. It’s all totally uninspired/uninspiring compared with the first 2 series.

MeandBobbyMcGoo · 20/06/2024 21:45

I really liked Maya and her seasons. It has gone downhill in terms of skill and talent, and I'd even say diversity in terms of different ages!

Paxz · 23/06/2024 10:25

I watched the first couple of series. Many contestants were so talented. But found the first judges so po-faced and rejecting. I
found it gratuitously judgy/cruel tbh.

Paxz · 23/06/2024 10:26

So haven’t watched it since I meant to add.
