Another new drama wirh good old ch5

50/50 if will be good or cheese 😂

The Cuckoo is a four-part series will start on Channel 5 at 9pm on Monday April 8 2024, with episodes running across the week from Monday to Thursday April 11 at the same time.

Episodes will also arrive on streaming service My5 (https://www.whattowatch.com/watching-guides/best-channel-5-dramas-all-the-must-see-tv-shows-to-watch-on-my5)

The Cuckoo kicks off with married couple Nick (Lee Ingleby) and Jessica (Claire Goose) having just bought the house of their dreams, a grand doer-upper in the country town where Jessica grew up.

But as the financial crisis hits, the couple fall on hard times and risk losing their beautiful home. With no other choice, they take in lodger Sian (Jill Halfpenny), who very quickly begins to start trouble in the family, flirting with Nick, borrowing Jessica’s clothes and building an inappropriate rapport with their adopted daughter Alice.

Jessica soon realises something dark and twisted is going on, and before long the pair must fight for one another and to save their own lives.

The Cuckoo is a tense Channel 5 thriller series starring Jill Halfpenny as a lodger who forces her way into the lives of her host family.

She plays Sian, a beautiful but mysterious woman who moves in with hard-up couple Nick (Lee Ingleby) and Jessica (Claire Goose) and their adopted daughter.

But as she oversteps the boundaries time and time again, Jessica starts to wonder if there’s more to Sian than meets the eye...

Jill Halfpenny says: "Viewers will know quite quickly what Sian wants, but I think the show then becomes about whether she manages to succeed — that’s the thrill of it.

Nick and Jessica have already made their worst move letting Sian into the house. The minute she’s inside, she can start messing with their minds. People will be shouting at the telly!"

I assume Sian was say she was driving rather then get her daughter in trouble

That's if it is her

I still tho k she isn't

Yes has same birthday but been stalking a few girls I think , thinking they were her daughter

Coma. Yes. Was good

I do like on weekly as watch so much

Equally I like every night as still can chat about each episode which I'm like

Ans sometimes miss things that other people are /work out

I, also, think she's been stalking a few girls with that birth date because when she rang her Aunt to tell her she'd finally found her, I got the impression she'd been searching for a while.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/04/2024 21:25

Yes and Aunty Faye says her daughter is gone

Tho didn't say dead

Alice is an irritating spoilt little brat

Housewife2010 · 10/04/2024 21:58

I'm really enjoying it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/04/2024 21:59

Alice is

And would she really let a stranger who says she is her mum do they to her parents life

And throw her mum down the cellar /in the cupboard

Ans run away with her

The police need to be better

And we still don't know why they left London

Can't find a recap e3 yet

That's strange

Alice has gone down in my estimation just standing by and watching as Sian attacked her mum and locked her up. Then, going off with her in the care knowing her mum was trapped.

Honestly if you watch episode one in the first 10 minutes there's two mentions of her being 16.
The recap is wrong again 🤣

I know, alarm bells might start ringing then!

daffodilandtulip · 10/04/2024 22:30

She's a little crazy isn't she 😧

Teenagers are unpredictable. She feels she's been lied to. I can see why she's been led so easily.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/04/2024 23:26

Recaps wrong @purpleme12 🙀🙀🙀

Never 😂😂😂

Yes alice had gone down in my eyes

She shouldn't behave like that

Tho again why didn't they tell her she was adopted

Mum was an addict - sounds like Sian 😂

How will all this be resolved on an hour

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 10/04/2024 23:27

The not telling her she's adopted is just a handy plot device isn't it

NavyTiger · 11/04/2024 10:05

Just caught up on last night's episode omg she is one crazy bitch 🤪

NavyTiger · 11/04/2024 10:07

I don't think she's her mum

the80sweregreat · 11/04/2024 12:09

Felt sorry for Lee's character not being able to reach his wife on the phones
Sian is a crazy one and I also doubt that Alice is her child.

biscuitsnow · 11/04/2024 12:16

I think her real daughter is dead- hence the "she's gone" comment. I think it has something to do with the cliffs/water they keep showing whilst Sian is thinking.

I think Sian cant face that and so is forever searching for girls born on that particular birthday as a replacement.

the80sweregreat · 11/04/2024 12:23

Yes , her child has probably died and she just wants a replacement for her

JMSA · 11/04/2024 12:51

I'm still watching. I mean, it's ok and perfectly watchable.
Where it falls down though, is in the characters being unlikeable. I'm not invested in them, so don't care what happens to them.

butterpuffed · 11/04/2024 13:14

Did they move after Nick's affair , for a fresh start ?

I don't think even Alice with the permanent sulky face, would say nothing while her mother is thrown in the cellar and locked up .

Just tonight's to go then ..

I got the impression that the move was due to the affair.
He didn't even have a new job lined up, so it was hardly a well executed plan. Unless there was another reason for having to move quickly.

Inkanta · 11/04/2024 13:59

Yes all the characters are not really likable. A lot of high expressed emotion and "we need to talk" scenes.

AuntieMaggie · 11/04/2024 16:11

I've binge watched the 3 episodes of this today, is there a fourth tonight otherwise that's a weird ending to match the weird plot

purpleme12 · 11/04/2024 16:33

Yes,that's not the ending 😂
